Erin Brockovich Busted For DUI

So, when you think of Erin Brockovich, you immediately think of Julia Roberts in the movie of the same name with her bust super enhanced. Does anyone really know what the real Erin Brockovich looks like? We all know her name though so when she got busted this weekend for driving a boat under the influence, it caught the attention of everyone. Apparently Erin was having trouble docking her boat and when you are as hammered as she was, that is really not surprising. So, the warden, being a nice guy he is, offered to help and that is when he smelled the booze and Ms. Brockovich was off to the slammer. I smell a sequel.

  1. I always knew what she looked like, and I've always said that Julia was a ridiculous choice to play her. Joanna Kerns would have been much better, but then it might have been a TV movie.

  2. Wonder if she refused the breathalizer test.

  4. @AKM: She does look like Joanna Kerns! Though I doubt she would have had the same box-office draw power as Julia. Maybe in the made-for-TV version?
I don't like JR, but I saw the film, and she was (legitimately) spectacular in that role.

  5. EB was in my city maybe two years after the movie, and came into the restaurant where I served, at least twice while here. She was very nice to all staff, etc.

This news did not surprise me though. That's subtle enough, eh?

  8. You can DUI while driving a boat? What's the traffic there in the sea? Tuna? Sharks? Haddocks? Isn't the ocean big enough to hit another boat although shitfaced?

    2. You can get a DUI operating a BICYCLE.

You can also get a ticket for running a stop sign on a bicycle. Not that I have or anything. *inspecting fingernails*

    4. I live in Texas and we have a lot of man-made lakes so boating is pretty popular. There are deaths every year for boating and drinking. One incident that happened years ago involved a speed boat that hit land and killed a woman. Never found out who the driver was but its been long suspected it was Deion Sanders.

    5. I'm from Texas too! I despise going out on many of the lakes (especially Conroe amd Summerville). To many drunks. I'm currently on vacation in S. Padre staying on the bayside and it seems ok here. Boats scare me.

    6. Drinking and boating in a lake is SUPER dangerous. There are swimmers, floaters, and jet skiers who end up being the victims of party boaters.

  9. She was on a lake, not the ocean. Lake Mead is in Nevada, where the sharks live in Las Vegas.

  10. Melanie Griffith could go blonde and play her.

  11. If you're operating anything with a motor and you're drunk, you ARE in fact Driving Under the Influence. See how that works?

  12. LOL at MadameChef!
We go boating alot in OK and never go out on holiday weekends in the summer. Way too many drunks, it gets scary. A young couple was killed a few weeks ago partying on their boat, she had been Miss Teen Oklahoma or something like that.

  13. Love what Eric Roberts said about his sister's Oscar for Erin Brockovich: "Everyone's going on about how great she was in Erin Brockovich but what did she actually do? Wear some push-up bras. It wasn't great acting."

  14. I remember when the movie came out that the real Erin was complaining about her fictional portrayal, saying "I never wore my skirts that long!" She wasn't kidding, either...

(Mind you, I still think Ellen Burstyn got cheated out of a second Oscar for Requiem for a Dream (all together now: "Ass to Ass!"), but that's MNSHO.)

  15. Of course you can DUI on a boat. You're operating a moving vehicle. Your passengers and all other people on the waterways are affected by your ability to drive and respond to emergency situations perhaps even moreso than when driving a car.

  16. Julia Roberts is hideously overrated.

I don't have much patience for grown women that dress like that. If you know you have big boobs and you don't want that leering, dirty energy of guys slobbering and staring at you, then you cover up. Apparently she likes that kind of attention. There's a way to show what you have in a classy way, and that's not it.
