Dave Chappelle Is Going On Tour

Dave Chappelle is back and for a limited time this year you can see him. Considering you never know whether this might be the last time he ever performs, I'm guessing you should probably see him now while you have the chance. Over five weekends this summer and fall, Dave will be playing 13 dates and co-headlining with Flight Of The Conchords. Yeah, I think it is pretty amazing too. Tickets go on sale later this week.

  2. I remember this being reported in the local newspaper. Tickets were sold out in hours and they added a second show.

  3. Sad move on Chappelle's part. If you are that worried about being outshined by your opening act that you hire the Concord douches, then just stay home.

  6. What sux is that with all the other videos trying to run no one can watch these, Enty. That may be why you get very few hits on them. Oh that and sometimes they're really a waste of time. Never was able to watch this here and had to go to Funny or Die instead.

  7. @fedwaymom: I think he was just hearing too much crap about the comedy he was doing and got sick of it. From the network, from the PTC, from black people.

    1. He was on "Inside the actor s studio" a few years ago n basically said he was afraid of losing.control of what was put out there in his name or with his stamp on it. I.believe he was correct in the assumption that over time his show would become commercial and unfunny. The media in general called him crazy for walkin on a $50mil deal but i sincerely believe his integrity and some fear of the industry pushed him out. Original Chappelles Show still cracks up everyone i know to this day.

  8. As much as I love Dave, I'm not getting my hopes up. My friends and I all bought tickets for his tour years ago, and when it was cancelled we lost a bundle on non-reimbursed ticketmaster fees.

  10. Looks like the Illuminati gave him a second chance, after he pissed them off by saying too much. Interesting.

  11. @barfly - You hit it right on the nose. I also saw another interview with Chappelle where he talked about the skits that his writing partner was pitching and over time they were getting progressively demeaning to minorities. He said that he felt he was losing control over the nature and subject matter of the skits and he would rather walk away then lose creative control. This is same reason that In Living Color went off the air when they were at the top of their game.

  18. I loved Dave's show back in the day. Sadly would never in a million years have enough money to buy tix .. but I am totally Team JoElla on hopes that someone records this.

Like Dave .. fear for his sanity every once in a while though, can't lie.

  20. @Borg Queen, I read that one day he looked at Neal Brennan and something about the way he was laughing at one of the skits got under his skin. The growing feeling that people were laughing for the wrong reasons and them asking him to appear in drag--something he vowed never to do--were the last straws. He was also afraid of the money Comedy Central was shelling out - $55mil - and the implications it would have.

Thank God someone still has artistic integrity over greed. Just a shame they're labeled "insane" and "crackhead" when they do.

    Bring on Brett and Jemaine!

  21. Ah, thanks, csproat! That's what I've actually heard; nice to hear that it's true. I admit that I was not a huge fan of his show, but I LOVED him in HALF BAKED. ;-)
