Woman Rescued After 17 Days In Bangladesh
I am not usually one to write about world news, but I think anyone who manages to survive for 17 days in the rubble of a collapsed building that has killed well over 1,000 people deserves a bit of a writeup. When there is so much tragedy and so much loss of life and so many grim things that have happened this week, it is nice to actually write about someone who lived through something so awful. Think about how happy her parents are to have her back. Think about the joy that came out of the tragedy of Amanda Berry and her fellow captors. How their parents probably gave up hope so many years ago, but have been reunited. I am such a sucker for a happy ending. The woman who survived in Bangladesh had dried food next to her and also a limited supply of water and is actually in pretty good shape. How do you keep yourself going for those 17 days, wondering if anyone will find you before the food and water give out.
Actually, Enty, Amanda Berry's mother can't be glad that she's back, because she died, "of a broken heart" according to those who loved her, a few months after Sylvia Browne, the self-professed "psychic," told her that Amanda was dead.
ReplyDeleteYeah, "psychics" are just fun entertainment, they don't do any harm....
Jas, agree, but dont you have to bring something to the table? Who takes psychic's word as truth? Having said that, it is disgraceful to exploit the bereaved, no doubt about it.
DeleteYou're not one to write about world news?
ReplyDeleteIs that why for a week you left Boston bombing posts at the top of the site all day? Every day!
You are a liar and I HATE YOU.
JAS - I remember seeing Sylvia Brown on GMA in December of 89 talk about how we'd all have flying cars soon after the turn of the century. Liar!!!
ReplyDelete@discoflux did she say which century? :-)
DeleteThis is an amazing story to come out of this tragedy. Over a thousand dead and she's alive after 17 days. Here's hoping that the people requesting goods from this manufacturer step up to the plate with some assistance for these people. Neary as many people died in this as in one of the twin towers. This negligence will hopefully bring global working conditions to the forefront.
ReplyDeleteReally truly amazing.
ReplyDelete@Twistykoi - You play nice, so do I
DeleteFor now. ;O
DeleteI cannot stop focusing on the fact that her scarf and shirt are so Cl
ReplyDeleteWe humans are dumber than we like to admit. But we are also stronger than we realize. That story represents the latter, obviously.
ReplyDelete*clean
ReplyDeletedisco speaks the truth!
ReplyDelete@JAS and disco, did you see Sylvia Brown actually issued a statement that said something to the effect that she's never been so glad to be wrong? Unreal.
ReplyDeleteJust keep praying, talking to your Guardian Angels/Spirit Guides, family members that have passed over, whatever gets you through. Imagine good things, good times, your children, your pets. Anything to stay positive.
ReplyDeleteWow thanks for the dirt on the predictions of Sylvia Brown, I've got a bunch of her books and havent heard of how she's been wrong. Anyone else have any anecdotes about her?
Besides the fact that Sylvia is completely rude?!? She once pulled into a handicap spot as a person with a WheelChair was trying to! She ended up bitching at THEM for almost hitting her!! It was crazy.
Deletenot to post hijack...
ReplyDeleteIs there a site we can send her money!? I want to help!!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't she be dirtier? In sure its a legit photo but it looks faked. Glad she's survived.
ReplyDeleteHope these two events are start of upbeat hopeful news.
ReplyDeleteEnty, you dont hv to apologize for posting world news. Its interesting as any gissip.
ReplyDeleteIn the early days, you used to link news that happened in Australia & NZ. Why did that stop?
ReplyDeleteCall me a skeptic but she has no injuries- She crawled into the wreckage and was 'found'.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great story, but how much more of these building collapses and fires are going to happen before the companies that contract with them have finally had enough and insist on safety regulations? This is at least seven times as worse than the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. When do corporations start being held liable like the 'people' they are, when they put profits over lives?
ReplyDeleteIt is estimated that factory upgrades could cost consumers as little as ten cents per garment. TEN CENTS. I would ask why they won't do it, but I already know the answer. Cold hard cash. Greedy fuckers.
[/off soapbox]
@Snapdragon - you win the internet for that reference. And when people think corporations are so awesome they should have to read about the Ludlow massacre. We have a short collective memory and it is a problem.
DeleteSo much for "Enty" not censoring comments, huh?
ReplyDelete@Tabby - I pointed out the fact that "Enty" posts things from around the world frequently but it was deleted. Guess I shouldn't have used the word "shit" in it.
ReplyDeleteNo, miss o Jenny, I just deleted anything with your name on it - play nice and I will too...
Delete@Chicky - Have you seen any of the things 888 posts? Those are far more offensive than anything I've said today.
ReplyDelete@miss - I haven't - I was just asked to help weed out the assholes who were posting today... :)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteOh what was that??? No - not a lawyer. I was asked to help weed out assholes, and here I am...
DeleteAhahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteDelete all you want, Chicky. It's screen capped.
@tabby - ooh A screen cap! Scary!! I am completely visible online - you can see exactly who I am - play nice.
DeleteSomeone deleted my comment calling you out. Since you so lovingly responded I'll repost. :) P.S. If you'd kindly point out how that comment makes me an "asshole" I'd truly appreciate it.
ReplyDelete@ Chicky, are you an overweight bacon loving attorney? If not why are you able to censor this website? I don't think you even go here.
It absolutely doesn't - I was more to let you know I'm NOT Enty, but I am acting on his request, and no, you are definitely not the target :)
DeleteI haven't said anything not nice. You're the one who is calling people assholes.
ReplyDelete@Tabby Sorry you got caught in the crossfire - I've been at this for 3 hours now and I'm a bit trigger-happy
DeleteThis is fantastic news -- she must have been pinned down right beside a crushed refrigerator or something. Seriously, who still has dried food after 17 days??
ReplyDeleteSweet luck was on her side!
Here's your first clue that your psychic is a fraud:
ReplyDeleteThey call themselves a psychic.
@ Enty U R a sucker 4 a happy ending, huh?
