I think the great gatsby is one if those books adults think they are supp to love and "get", when really its a boring pointless depressing read. Yeah, i read it. Ergo, the movie will stink because story stinks.

Deletevery distraught huh? I think Carey looks fine for the choice of Daisy in Gatsby, Leo's real life certainly parallels Gatsby's so it shouldn't be too much of a stretch. Mulligan and Mumford for the abuse blind for sure now.

"The Cave" by Mumford & Sons came on the radio today, and now I feel like I can't ever listen to one of their songs and not wonder whether or not the lead singer is abusive. I wonder if Chris Brown fans feel a similar twinge. Although the Mumford accusations are all rumors for now, so I can cling to that. I can listen to MJ's music and separate that from the molestation allegations. Hmm, deep thoughts.

Just felt compelled to say that David Belle would hopefully state that he is not the 'inventor' of Parkour as it's but an extension of the fluidity of movement that his father observed from indigenous African peoples during his travels.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if the discipline can be said to be 'invented' then Sébastien Foucan (seen in the amazing opening segment of Casino Royale) has to be given co-founder status.

ReplyDeleteI really like The Great Gatsby, I didn't find the book boring at all. I'm pretty disappointed in the casting for the lead characters of this movie.
ReplyDeleteI did love Moulin Rouge, so maybe I will give this movie a shot. Once the DVD comes out.
The third girl in the picture with Katy Perry and Florence is Jessie Ware, an up and coming Brit artist who was recognised as one of the critics choice candidates at the Brit awards this year (promise I'm not her agent!! Just a big fan)
ReplyDeleteWith regards to the Mumford/Mulligan situation, does the answer lie in Laura Marling's lyrics...Mumford and Sons were originally Laura's backing band and then they broke off, Marling and Mumford were together for a long time. Carey and Laura also bear a creepy resemblance, although I find Laura's face to be much more full of joy than Carey's.
Whatever happened between Laura and Mumford Has never been made public but her third album after their split was very dark and the lead single's chorus goes
'im a good woman and I never did say whatever that it was that you did that day' CRYPTIC. Anyway, sorry for the ramble but just my two cents !
I must admit as well that the hair swept back on Carey M isn't flattering. She's a lovely girl and a haunting actress. And is Isla Fisher teeny or what? Wow.

Deanna Durbin was probably the smartest child star in history. Having been the highest paid woman in America and the teenager who saved Universal Studios from bankruptcy, she knew when to leave and never looked back, quitting the business cold in 1948. Apparently Judy Garland looked her up when she was in France in the '60s and Deanna said something like "Oh, Judy. You're still not doing that (meaning performing), are you?" Two young girls who started out together and ended up having very different careers and lives.
