Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj Leave American Idol
You knew it was coming, but it had to be done to make sure that Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj could save some face. I'm not sure how much face Mariah Carey has after the producers tried to fire her during the middle of the season and the story got out. Nicki managed to tweet how much fun she had on the show. Mariah could not be bothered to Tweet anything on her own and just retweeted something from her publicists about how great "Beautiful" is and that Mariah is going to do a world tour so can't possibly do Idol. Yeah, makes it seem like the whole thing was Mariah's idea. I think the producers are just glad to see them gone. Keith urban is hanging on by a thread. he really wants to come back. I think being away from Nicole Kidman so much gave him some life. I will say that if the show adds Justin Bieber I will not watch or even discuss it anymore.
I thought all the new judges were supposed to be AI alum?
ReplyDeleteYeah, bring back Adam Lambert! He certainly has the time.
ReplyDeleteI think it should always be about the contestants and not the judges. But what do I know. Poor Keith, he can always launch a three times around the world tour to run consecutive
ReplyDeleteI thought the AI producers were trying to get Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, and Glambert as judges. That would leave Keith Urban out. It would be cheaper to get AI alum anyway since a lot of the winners aren't doing anything now.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to Minaj. How she ever became a judge is beyond me. I'd love to see a judging panel with Glambert, Clay Aiken and Kelly Clarkson!
ReplyDeletethey need judges who will really mentor and critique, or just cancel the damn thing.
ReplyDeleteAI has that age limit. I think that limits the appeal of the show for anyone over 25. So they shoehorn in the likes of Bert Bacharach (sp), Barry Gibb, Barry Manilow and all those other classic artists/composers as mentors...It just confuses the show. imo.
I think Kelly Clarkson would be the hardest to get. She's one of the most successful besides Carrie Underwood. There's always the gray haired guy and Ruben What's His Name to fall back on.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Taylor Hicks. I picked him as the winner from his first audition. (Really!) But he was terribly mismanaged from the start. I should say packaged incorrectly. Should have been more like Michael Bubble or Harry Connick Jr.
ReplyDeleteBuble...
DeleteOh Pugster, ITA---Taylor Hicks really had a potential with all those lady fans....should have stuck with the Soul Patrol angle. I loved the songs he used on the show....."A Change is Gonna Come" and the like.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't Idol go back to its roots? Pick out two industry vets and one singer who was popular in the 80s or 90s as judges. I am already hating the thought of putting up with Jennifer Hudson next season. I hate Justine Beeeepeeepeeee, but I honestly think I would prefer him if for no other reason than to see someone on there who could be a foil for Ryan--I miss Ryan and Simon's spats!
ReplyDeleteIs Nicki Minaj stealing the Jaden Smith™ face?
ReplyDeleteWow, scratchy kitty---Your avi--have you had work done? Something subtle? When I pay good money for plastic surgery, I want to know it's gonna LAST, y'know?
ReplyDelete(I've re-watched "Behind the Candelabra" twice now. LOVE!)
boycott the f'ing show if Boo-ber has anything to do with it!
ReplyDeleteI think Keith Urban was a good choice to keep. The others, including Randy, needed to go.
ReplyDelete@Pugster Mom. I only watch the first few weeks of auditions because the rest of the show is crap, but I too picked Taylor Hicks right from the start ... I really liked his voice.
ReplyDeleteYes!! The tension between those two was too much
ReplyDeletethe producers knew what they were getting into when they hired mariah and nicki. that it backfired on them is no one's fault but their own.
ReplyDeleteTrue that...
DeleteI liked Keith on.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows yese chicks got canned. Not hat it was a great idea to use them anyway.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Idol has had its run. Just take it out of its misery and put it to sleep.
