I never "got" this show I guess. I always thought the mother was either Buffy Chick or Reporter Chick. So why does Bob Saget narrate it when he's not seen on screen? What does he have to do with this group of people? Are they going to McGuffin it in and say he was just out of camera shot every shot but was there?
My first thought was the mother isn't very attractive. It will be interesting to see this play out. I'm way more interested in the other characters' story lines.
CBS finally confirmed on zap2it.com that even though she was billed as "Girl with the Yellow Umbrella" she is in fact, the mother.
The actress btw is Cristin Milioti and she did amazing work in the Broadway musical "Once" and i've seen her on a few other items She's got an amazing voice.
All in all - didn't like how they did the reveal but glad they finally got it going.
Look, @Rowdy, I didn't create or cast the show. I have no idea why they didn't have the guy who plays Ted also narrate. Maybe suspend your disbelief and assume Ted's voice changes again for whatever reason. If it makes you feel better, assume that at some point Ted gets punched in the throat. ;-)
Loved this show the first few seasons. **** Spoiler alert *** I never could get used to Barney and Robin being together so I stopped watching. Definitely not what I was picturing for the mother. I might start watching again just to see how this all plays out.
@Cathy It's a bit different with Daniel Stern voicing the future self of a character that is 12 in the show and Bob Saget voicing the future self of an already 30 something year old man.
And c'mon, if I wanted to really talk crap about VO's I'd ask why they paid Viggo Mortenson millions for his few minutes as Megatron in the Transformers films while having Frank Welker (the original and iconic voice of the character) do voices for other characters in the movies lol
LOVE this show. And I'm thrilled that christin milotti was cast as the mother. I saw her in Once and she was fantastic-so charming and funny! She's totally "adorkable" in a non-Zoey Deschanel "look at how adorkable I am" way. I hope the role of the mother allows her to showcase that.
I read on EW that NPH, who's a huge broadway fanatic, flipped out when he saw her on set and deduced that she might be the mother.
So thrilled Cristin Milioti's doing stuff that will get her more recognition. She was fantastic in "Once", very charming and heartbreaking, can't wait to see what she does with the mother. Got the chance to meet her after I saw her in "Once"--really sweet and down-to-earth, gracious, stayed to take pictures and talk to all the fans. Stopped watching HIMYM because I got frustrated with all the fake-outs, but might have to start again.
She looks like the guy's sister. They could be twins. I've never watched the show, so I can't comment too much. I agree with Rowdy though. Why would a 30 year old man's voice change into someone else's?
Since the "mother" has been revealed, does this mean the show is finally over?
Bob Saget is the voice of the "father" becuse most of the people who watch this grew up watching Full House! It is amazing marketing in their part, because it is the classic "dad" voice! Facebook ruined who the mother was for me since I wasn't up to date on the episodes!
Oh yay!

ReplyDeleteBob Saget is supposed to be an older Ted, telling the story to his children in the future.

ReplyDeleteFinally.

@Snapdragon So he goes through another puberty and his voice becomes that of Bob Saget?
ReplyDelete@Rowdy - clearly you did not grow up watching The Wonder Years or you wouldn't be harping on the difference in voices.
ReplyDelete@Cathy *high five*

ReplyDelete@Kate, Barney and Robin together are pretty awesome, actually :)

I wonder how many times Ted and her will break up and get back together in the final season. My guess is 5 or 6. His character is such a f'ing pussy.
ReplyDelete@Fritters She looks like Allyson Hannigan (Is that Buffy Chicks name?) and Jennifer Love Hewitt had a baby.
ReplyDelete@Snapdragon. Hilarious comment. I'm still laughing.
ReplyDelete@Jeannies Bottle: Thanks... happy to oblige :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so torn!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Miranda Cosgrove for 2.5 seconds

final season
ReplyDeleteColor me disappointed
ReplyDeleteShe looks like Cobie Smulders and Allison Hannigan had a baby.
ReplyDeleteThis show should have ended 3 years ago!
ReplyDeleteThe May 6 episode was beyond awful.
LOL. Spoiler warning, but the still-shot is of the character in question. Oops!
