Did George Michael Try To Kill Himself?

After his one car crash over the weekend, George Michael is being allowed to recover from his injuries. After looking at the photos and reading about how it all happened, he really is lucky to be alive. Of course, with his physical condition, he is lucky to be alive, so maybe he just lives everyday to the fullest. The other explanation, which I am starting to think might be the real explanation, is that George Michael tried to kill himself. He probably figured if he bailed out of a car doing 70 he would probably have a chance of dying. It is only through good luck that he managed to live. A lot of luck. Police are waiting to talk to him.

  1. Awww, George. So sad. I loved him so much growing up. Still do. His music is just amazing.

  2. Why he just won't come out, admit his status and become a role model for HIV like so many other Poz celebrities is beyond me, its like he is on a personal self destruct mission

    1. Maybe he does not want to become a model. I think when celebs admit to illness or disease it shows they are human and have issues like the rest of the community. Becoming a model is such a big responsibilit, especially when sick or if one has always lived a private life.

  3. If he was trying to kill himself, I doubt he'd do it that way. Whatever happened he's lucky he didn't kill anyone else.

I'm thinking there was a wasp in the car. Because I completely lose my shit whenever one flies into mine.

  4. George Michael lives recklessly and has a death wish. When was the last time you heard of someone falling out of a speeding car? Put two and two together.

  5. So his health issues all stem from being HIV pos? That sucks.

  6. I thought there was someone else in the car with him... either way, this is so sad. He is such a handsome and talented guy. This is what happens when you have to live a lie, it destroys you.

  7. He's HIV pos? Thats fact or rumour?

  8. If he's suicidal for whatever reason, he chose a particularly stupid way to go about it if that's what this incident was all about. He'd have been as likely to end up in a wheelchair for life as to have killed himself.

  9. If you're trying to kill yourself, is it really "good luck" that you survive? Not trying to troll here; I am genuinely puzzled by the wording. In any case, I love George Michael and I really hope he gets control over his demons rather than them controlling him.

  10. Yeah, I don't think this was intentional. I think this was yet another "episode" due to his struggles with drugs and/or alcohol. This would be a very odd choice if it were a suicide attempt.

@Greg - it is a rumor because he hasn't admitted it, but it is pretty widely assumed that he is HIV+

  11. I love George Michael. I always have and I always will.
IF, and that is a big IF, he is HIV positive that is his own business. Nobody, except his sexual partners, needs to know. If he wants to keep his health issues private that is absolutely his right.
He has issues, clearly, but I really don't think he is trying to commit suicide.

  12. George's HIV+ status is a rumor, I really hope its not so and of course George has a right to keep it to himself. That said, I wonder if his coming out would matter to those who really need to be slapped in the face and remember that AIDS is still out there.

Sad that its still marginalized as a "Gay Man's Disease" by so many. Someone very close to me died of it when it was still an automatic death sentence. His dementia was a blessing in light of what he went through...

  13. I do forever love GM. His concerts, as recently as 2008 were parties. I can't think of anyone more lively and fun. He has given and I'm sad he's sad.

  15. If he did try to kill himself this way, he is a selfish asshole. He could just as easily have killed someone else who swerved to avoid him. Alternately, he could have succeeded at killing himself, and the person who ran over him could have ended up in jail through no real fault of their own.

  16. Man this guy has alot of demons! If coming out and/ or telling world u r hiv+ will help you, do it. If not certainly keep it private, but stop trying to self destuct. People love you!!!
And Pini, I certainly havent forgotten about aids. With so many women and children being infected, how anyone can think its a gay disease is beyond my comprehension.

  17. The story I read was that he was trying to open the door to better close it and fell out. Why anyone would do that on a highway, though, seems a bit strange. Why TF did he not have a seat belt on?? Hoping it was just a freak accident.

    1. Snapdragon I was coming here to say that too. Dummy tried to re-close his car door going 70 mph on the freeway.

  18. Maybe he was pushed out?

  19. I know of someone who did this because he was depressed, so it has happened. Unfortunately he did not make it and left 2 kids.

  20. From what I have read about him, he has always been a deeply depressive personality, perhaps one who tried to self-medicate with substance.

The other day I googled "What did Andrew Ridgley do in Wham?" You know, the eternal question. Anyway, the answer was that he had the confidence and the charm to get the group started in the first place. George was a chubby, pimply loser and Andrew was the coolest guy in school. Andrew styled George and styled the group and used his gorgeous smile to convince people to book them. And George wrote all the songs and played all the instruments.

  21. Andrew, by the way, married someone from Bananarama and they live in a little British country town where he does advocacy for water conservation. Which sounds to me like a very nice way to live out your post-fame years.

    1. @Nutty: That is indeed a good way to live after enjoying your younger years in fame. So many others should take a cue from him. Classy.

  22. As far as I know, George IS out, at least regarding his sexuality. The rest is just rumour. He does seem to have a lot of demons, but what famous person doesn't these days? being famous seems to be bad for your health, or at least your happiness.

  23. @Nutty_Flavor - thanks for answering the eternal question! I didn't even know I needed it answered, but now that you have answered it, I feel much better! :)

  24. When I read the title all I could think is "Hopefully he does better next time."

  25. @KLM, you're welcome. Funny how Andrew Ridgely came out "ahead", at least in terms of happiness, in the long run.

A bit how like Ryan Gosling was the last of his Mickey Mouse club generation to succeed as an adult, but now has a more secure career and more respect than Britney, Justin, Christina et al.

  26. First of all, that's a lovely pic Enty! Glad you went with one of the pics of his Symphonica shows! I'm a big fan of George and been to lots and lots of 25Live and Symphonica shows (reviews on my blog, lol). Some of the best memories of my life.

Anyway, I'm sad because no matter what happened exactly On Thursday one thing is clear, George is not doing well right now. Either he got confused and tried to get out of a speeding car or ... well, who knows? That "closing the car door" story can't be true! I hope they keep him under close observation for a while so he can't hurt himself or endanger any one else. I think he would benefit from some top quality psychotherapy as well. As for being hiv+, I'm not sure that's even true (he's lucky that way!).

  27. Strange, how in that "I want your sex" video, he talked about " ....boys you can trust and girls that you don't.." Too bad it was a dick that got him at the end or too many dicks. Apparently,Travolta and Michael don't swim in the same pool.

  28. Count me as another fan who wishes the best for George. I too lost a loved one during the crisis. If he is indeed HIV+ that is no longer a death sentence. But then maybe that's what he wants. Get well sweet fellow.

  29. Enty have you read the complete story? Not only was there the driver but also another passenger in the car (I dont think it was his boyfriend Fadi because one of the stories I read said he wasnt in the Range Rover.) Im thinking, as are a lot of my friends, that it was some sort of domestic. Why was the driver speeding? George may have been getting assaulted by another boyfriend (he has been known to cheat) BTW one of my buddies has a Range Rover and he said its very difficult to open the door while its moving--it has electronic doors or something. Also, as a lifelong GM fan I dont see him trying to off himself in a grisly way like this--if he was suicidal, he'd want to leave a good looking corpse. Trust me, he cares about his looks too much to throw himself into traffic. Its more likely a domestic, which is probably just what the cops are thinking.

    1. Speed limit in the M1 is 70, the driver wasn't speeding. I don't think he was trying to kill himself, but something clearly happened.

  30. ^to my knowledge George plays no instruments. Andrew played guitar. Can't argue with the rest.

I hope George realizes how much he is loved and gets the help he needs.

  31. He has a lot of money- what I don't understand is with millions of people (with much less means) living almost HIV free due to drug cocktails-why does he have so many health issues because of it? Doesn't add up.

    Sad either way.

  32. Everytime I see George Michael I only think of the fake new wave group Pop! that Hugh Grant's character had been in in the film "Music and Lyrics". Although he was the non-George Michael member of the fictional duo. I wonder what Andrew Ridgeley thought of Music and Lyrics?

    ReplyDelete
  33. yes Nutty Flavor I was devastated to learn Ridgeley had to learn how to fake playing a guitar - I got this from one of the bios on Wham! AR had a record out post Wham! he has a better singing voice than many who have gotten recording contracts but he is no George of course and Andrew and his then backup singer girlfriend Shirley - she married one of the Kemp brothers talked George out of coming out of the closet during the Wham days, bit disappointed at that since most people I knew assumed George was gay and couldn't care less, fans and non fans

  34. Although I adore him and wish him the best as well, I have to admit the (From the Sun, I think) headline, "Scrape Me Up Before You Go-Go," had me in stitches.

Awful, I know. I hope he's on the mend.

I believe he is on a death wish. Cant come out and own it, and be an advocate because he probably kept sleeping aroujd KNOWING he had it and the lawsuits would ruin him.

  36. @nudibelle, oooh, good point! Wow, and ugh! I'll bet you're right. His conscience must be trying to kill him!

I agree with the domestic dispute theory. the way that this is worded I don't think that Enty's talking about a rumor. Plus, that's an incredibly personal life/death issue that I just couldn't see Enty casually putting out there if he didn't truly believe it himself. If it is just an unsubstantiated rumor, my opinion of Enty would be lowered. He's a well known cheater, and apparently HIV+, I hope that he settles down a bit, and can enjoy his life, but he seems to enjoy a certain kind of lifestyle, and who am I to judge what anyone wants to do?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I figured he was wasted and opened the door because he didn't have the presence of mind to know where he was, but I'm sure he was being tested for drugs after this happened.

  39. I have read that many police departments consider all single vehicle accidents with male drivers attempted suicides till they can rule it out.

  40. I've always thought if GM committed suicide he'd be the hanging from a belt naked a'la Michael Hutchence and David carradine kinda way

  41. @Discobitch
David Carradine did not commit suicide. It was a sex act gone wrong:
