David Beckham Retires

One year in Paris is all he wanted. Turning down the chance to stay on for another season, David Beckham is retiring from professional soccer and will focus on his tribute band Spice Boys. David spends most of his time with the band preening on stage and throwing tantrums while pretending he is better than everyone else just because he married well. David Beckham is probably one of the most famous soccer players in history and managed to become arguably one of the most famous faces on the planet.

  3. Wonder how long the marriage will last with him home all the time. I knew a couple like that. They were fine when they both traveled for work, the second he was around more they were divorced 5 months later.

  4. That haircut on him is the worst ever. His hairstylist must have decided to take revenge for some reason.

  6. @audrey. Adam Levine does that to me. The voice kills the face. I hate his high falsetto singing voice.

  7. Thank God, he is so freaking overrated. I'm glad he didn't blow in America.

  8. My friend and I used to go to H&M just to stand in front of his posters and sigh.

  9. He sings? His voice sounds like Tinkerbell. Weird how European soccer player + has been European girl bander from 90s = A list American power couple. We are easily impressed by the British.

  10. His Guy Fawkes facial hair is fucking hideous.

  11. A more than decent player, but no world beater. He did make the most of his attributes though, and fair play to him for that. More than 1 of his moves was predicated on the number of replica shirts he would sell, but that's not his fault.

  12. I just realized I've never heard his voice....off to youtube...

  13. Well it's really not that high pitched IMHO. I don't think I would've noticed anything if I wasn't primed for it.

What ever you think about his voice or his choice of wife, he killed it on the pitch. He was a supreme footballer, no lie!

  16. He is a good soccer player (football if you are not illiterate and think that something involving a ball and feet has to be called football and not something which is played with the hands), but not a historically important one.
He was a handsome marketing product and not even the best in most teams he played (when he was in Real Madrid, Zidane was way better than him, but he is bald and an ugly moor). He banged dozens of females when he was in Madrid (even Ana Obregón says she was one of them), but he was a working, serious guy.
Nice guy according to people who met him, and a good player.

  18. He was a decent player for a while but has always been a triumph of marketing over ability.

Don't get me wrong, he couldn't have achieved this level of fame without some ability to back it up, it's just that he's not considered even in the top 5 of British football, never mind worldwide. Good, but not all-time-great.

Of course there are several thousand kids with No.7 shirts who will disagree with that, but as I said, good marketing trumps reality every time.
