Blind Item #1

This A+ list rapper has banned this former B list celebrity from ever working with anyone he does business with after she opened her mouth and said some nasty things about the A+ lister. A lot were true, but, she is going to find it very difficult to make a buck now.

  7. If he wasn't married to Beyonce, I would have no idea who Jay Z is. So would that make him A list? I know it's a petty quibble and I sure as heck don't want to get into star ratings. lol

I'm a 90s child so I can tell you Jay was seriously a fucking great rapper back then - behind BIG he was the best in NYC - then - I don't know wtf happened - corporate sponsorship? Radio play? Honestly I don't know but in 95 he was so dope its almost unimaginable what a crap rapper he is now. I only knew who beyonce was because of him haha

  11. I wouldn't know JayZ either, @Basil, but in the ways that really count in Hollywood, I think JayZ is big time A list--he has real power with producing music and stuff.

Can't stand rap music either, but hey, I'm about 25 years past its target audience.

  17. I've never heard a Jay-Z song. I only know him through his 'celebrity'. With few exceptions, I stopped listening to 'popular music' almost 20 years ago (hair/metal ruined radio for me personally). My musical taste is mostly Sondheim & 60's/70's.
I'm not trying to insult anyone. It's just personal taste.

  18. This"blind item" is bullshit. Those things that Foxy supposedly said have been floating around being and being attributed to her for at least 10 years. Some other blog posted them and she decided to finally put it to rest by denying it. Foxy has mental health issues which have prevented her from working and add music consumers change in taste of music and thats why she isn't as visible as 15 years ago when she was hot. Not because Jay-z is threatening to blacklist any one. You guys writing this site now have been reaching on stories for a while now and calling them blind. Its crazy.

Yup - Foxy was part of The Firm - she had Nas and AZ - she CERTAINLY did not need JayZ for a damn thing. She was super talented - I always hoped she'd make a comeback - or at least cut a couple tracks with Nas again

That honestly shocks me, not because I think it's insulting, but because I want to know where you live. I want to go there when I retire so I don't even have to know who the president of the US is lol.

    ReplyDelete
  29. If this would have said A list celebrity I would have guessed PMK and Jay Z. The E! stunt pulled on Bey's pregnancy is going to bite her in the ass. Mark my words, Jay Z has some nasty history about payback's on those who cross him. No guess on this one though. Would Lil Kim be considered B now?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Cee Kay- it does not mean you "have a life" lol. I think most of have lives, and have you know, done things and heard good music so we would know who Jay Z is. He is not like a Kardashian who is known for solely being a waste of life, he is talented musician (even if rap is not your thing). In fact I wonder the kind of life you have had (unless you are older) if you HAVENT heard of him and his music.

  33. I didn't think anyone read my comments, yet THIS is the one people pick up on? Okay. lol

I didn't mean to offend JZ or his fans, but it is true! I had no idea who he was. I assumed he was a record mogul like Clive Davis or someone like that. I suppose I might have heard a song of his on the radio, but since radio doesn't tell you who sings what song until 5 songs later, I must have missed him in passing..

BTW, who is the President of the US? I might have missed that one too.

  34. @Basil - The correct answer is always Bill Pullman. :)

@ basil - no offense taken or meant :) I just happen to be an old school east coast hip hop junkie - jay's album " reasonable doubt " was my soundtrack along with BIGs " ready to die " in the mid 90s - my comment was meant more for info rather than being defensive or whatever :)

  43. Jay still makes good music. While i didn't enjoy his verse on Suit&Tie, his verse on No Church in the Wild was great as was most of Watch the Throne. For those of us who enjoy words and the ways they can be wove as art, Jay will always have a spot.

It's fine if ya'll don't know who Jay is, i wouldn't know a single real housewife without this site. Of course Jay has cultural significance and actual talent so it's a little different but w/e.

  44. FYI: Knowing or not knowing who certain celebrities are, watching or not watching reality TV shows, listening or not listening to certain music does not make you cooler/better/smarter than anyone else.

Jesus Christ, it's like a fucking playground in here.

  45. Not knowing who JayZ is isn't insulting. Music has been Balkanized now for 30 years. I listen to the alt rock stations so I've never heard a JayZ song in my life. Why should he be insulted that I'm a fan of alt rock. I've never heard a Keith Urban song either. If these guys hadn't married movie stars I would barely know who they were. How much do you know about Sleater-Kinney or the Dandy Warhols? Different musical tastes don't equate to an insult.

  46. @ Libby I am actually am very well versed in history and politics etc. I will say I also am when it comes to somewhat current events in biology and chemistry (but not the technicalities as I am bad in math).

I am not a huge rap fan-never have been, but my point was, you don't need to be to know who Jay Z is. Also I can admit if someone has talent even if the type of music is not my "thing". I didn't say knowledge about Jay Z, just knowing who he is, bc he is basically the biggest player in a huge industry- and he is branching out quickly into others.

I would assume that more people would know who Jay Z is then say, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Llyod Webber, or Sarah Brightman (who I love). I guess my point is, you don't have to like the music to know a person.

  47. @lazyday603,

Sleater-Kinney FOREVER! Every time I go to Seattle, I whoop at that exit!

I'm curious as to why everyone is getting up in arms over CeeKay's remark. She said she doesn't know how JayZ is because she has a life - not necessarily implying anyone who DOES know who JayZ doesn't. Like someone else mentioned, I would know the names of any of those Real Housewives of Whereevervill or one of those Teen Moms were it not for this site. It's not an insult, settle down!

  50. @libby. did you really just tell someone to go fuck themselves, over Jay Z?

    ReplyDelete
  51. For those of you who have frequent this site a lot but yet you have never heard of jay Z, I call foul. There have been so many blinds about Bey and Jay. One of the blinds that got the most attention was the one where people guessed it was Jay Z, Gwyn Paltrow and Beyonce; where this married AList actress was sleeping with her BFF husband who's an AList rapper.

JayZ is one of the biggest not just rappers but entertainers of all time. National attention was brought to him when Paltrow attended his concert in Paris and tweeted "Yo Niggas in Paris for real Yo! Yes Gwyn Paltrow tweeted those words. In her defense the song is called "Niggas in Paris."

Whoever said Bey made Jay popular; you must be high. Jay was a multiplatium rapper 6 times over, owned Rockefella records and Roca A Wear before he sold it, owned a small percentage of the Nets basketball team before he sold his share and now has a sports agency where he has already signed NY Yankess Robinson Canoe. He still ownes a large portion of the 40/40 night club Club in NY. So if you don't know, now you know.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'll admit I don't know who Jay-Z is. Yes, I've heard the name and seen pictures/commercials with him but I know nothing about him, so I say I don't know who he is. His form of music is just not my bag and seeing here he was part owner of the Nets doesn't mean anything because I'm not a fan of basketball. Baseball, yes. Basketball, football, soccer-couldn't care less.

Why are people getting up in arms because someone says they don't know who a person is? Are we supposed to keep up with everyone that people think are "special"?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous2:38 PM

Instead of fighting about whether or not everyone should know who Jay Z is, I'm thinking perhaps people are just not realizing they are listening to a Jay Z song. I mean, if you follow pop culture in the slightest (which I would assume anyone reading this blog does...), you've probably heard a number of them either on the radio, on television, or referenced.

    Can I get a....
Big pimpin (hey Libby that keeps autocorrecting to "Pippin," so there's your musical reference ;)
    99 problems (but a bitch ain't one)
empire state of mind (this song w/alicia keys is everywhere, you would have to live under a rock to avoid it)
encore (also a mash up numb/encore w/linkin park)
    hard knock life (ghetto anthem)
Izzo (H to the Izzo, could not escape that one either for years)
    Poppin tags
run this town (w/rihanna, big in top 40)

Those are just the most famous/ubiquitous of all the songs he's recorded in the past 20 years--mainstream radio, tv commercials, Super Bowl ads...you've heard something, I promise!

Otherwise I'm kind of with Katie!

    ReplyDelete
  54. @RowdyRodimus

We are not getting all up in arms nor do we think Jay Z is special. It's just that most people that post here are up on pop culture or follow it. Maybe you just came to this site or you don't follow pop culture as closely as some of us do. Maybe some people have just been living under a rock for the last 20 years; I don't know. Perhaps they have never seen a music award show because he's pretty much been all over them. I'm assuming you don't know who Beyonce is as well.

If that's the case then perhaps you don't know Jay Z but continue on this site and you might get to know him well.

Hey I don't really listen to Neil Diamond but I know who he is.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Actually, Jay made Foxy a star on his song "Ain't No Nigga." It is common knowledge among hip hop fans that Jay wrote Foxy's verses. I'll agree, she has a good voice for rapping, but to call her one of best? I have to disagree.

That being said, this is probably about them.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think this is Kanye and Kris Jenner......

  57. We all have different tastes and it's all good. I love the old stuff like Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Desi Arnaz. I love corny pop like Barry Manillow. I also know the lyrics to every AC/DC song ever written. My son is named Dylan after Bob Dylan. Bob Marley was a genius. Eminem, I can't get enough of. Red Hot Chili Peppers, awesome. New kid from England, Jake Bugg, And who can forget the Beatles, The Band, the Doors, Neil Young, Green Day, Blue Rodeo, Metallica and etc. etc. etc. So what's the diff if someone doesn't know Jay Z? To each our own :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. What I took away from this post was that there are Sleater Kinney fans here. I also whoop at the exit!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Rock fans stopped listening to Top 40 radio decades ago. The only rock bands to chart consistently on Top 40 are the crap bands like Nickelback and Maroon 5. Why bother?

    ReplyDelete
  60. It's probably the case that all of us have knocked, mocked, & tuned out entire music genres (+ their fans) for various superficial reasons.

I sure missed out on a lot of great music.... Anyway: yeah, Foxy must have gotten loose-tongued at some gathering & entertained people with stories of JayZ back in the day. She's denying like crazy now, but it was an incredibly stupid move.

And if anyone wants to say they have never heard of JayZ or listened to what K Stewart calls 'Ghetto Music'... alright; whatever rings your bell. But yes: Jay might never even have to say a word--Foxy B may soon be in the ironic position of applying for a job at an In&Out.
