Barbara Walters Finally Admits She Is Retiring Next Year
Remember how for months everyone has said that Barbara Walters is retiring next year and she kept denying it and said she had no plans on retiring and that she could do interviews long after she died, because she was basically just wax and botox at this point anyway. Just hook up a recorder to her back and prop her in a chair and she could go for the next 50 years. Today on The View she will finally admit that she is retiring and is expected to name her very young replacement Betty White to succeed her on The View.
I wonder if she's got much else going on in her life besides work. Some people are like that - they dread the weekends.
ReplyDeleteBetty White jokes are hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed that Joy, Elisabeth, and Barbara are rarely on together? Like one of them always has the "day off." Or am I just reading into things?
ReplyDeleteWhether it's because they hate each other or not, it's definitely been happening.
Deleteit's definitely been happening since joy said she was leaving. but remember elisabeth isn't "leaving" according to babs.
DeleteNutty--Like Regis. He'll be 12 hours early for his own funeral.
ReplyDeleteThis is long overdue.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Southland was cancelled. I think there are a few fans of the show on these comment threads. I'm more upset about that.
ReplyDeleteGo alreafy! You've stayed too long at the ball!
ReplyDeleteI hope she has a more peaceful retirement then Regis. Everytime I turn around he's somewhere on television making out dated references and absolutely no sense.

ReplyDeletePlease go now Barbara...
ReplyDeleteBarbara - get a real life! Where are the people you mentored all these years who are meant to follow in your footsteps? Did you finally get enough money? How many people worked 30 years and more to do what you continued to do long past your prime died waiting for their opportunity while loyally supporting you? You're greedy, and it's shameful. Over the top greed like this is why we used to have estate taxes. That needs to come back yesterday. /end rant. **tosses bag of dog poo on Barbara's door step, lights it, walks away weeping for this country**
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a day (or two) makes. While a daily/nightly reader, I tend to only comment when I know people involved or guessed as being involved. More and more I found myself scrolling through entire comments sections as their were filled with no relevant comments and at times were repugnant. If people want to have porn conversations, there are sites for that. Hopefully, the on point comments of the mocking commentators on Friday and Saturday hit home and people will get back to their entertaining and pithy comments.
ReplyDeleteIt's only about 10 years too late.
ReplyDeleteSo is the reason for not admitting to an upcoming retirement a concern it will cause a dip in the ratings? Don't get that.
ReplyDelete*pats _-_=_* there, there. It's going to get better.
ReplyDeleteBut having said that - to some people, work is their whole life. I'm not saying it's healthy, but there are some people that feel like that. If you can do the job, you should be allowed to keep working after retirement age, it that's what you want. Of course, Barbara Walters hasn't been able to do a good job for years. But I understand the need to keep working long after it's necessary.
SusanB - thanks, better now.
Deletefinally!! since some months ,she's rumored to retire
ReplyDeleteGood! I'm tired of seeing her

ReplyDeleteI dread the next year...the long goodbyes only seem to work for Oprah.
ReplyDeleteI was amused by all the major news sites going ape over this "big announcement" on Twitter last evening. I used to think Ms. Walters was a decent journalist, and she got into the business at a time when it was still an unusual (and difficult) thing for women to do. But she's long since jumped the shark. Her planned interview with Lindsay Lohan was, for me, the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. I can't imagine how anyone, male or female, who considers himself/herself to be a professional journalist would waste so much as a microsecond of time interviewing that brainless bimbo. Based on that belief, I'd say it was past time for Ms. Walters to hang it up.
ReplyDeleteI think Bawbwa wanted her news to be a big supwise, so when it weaked a few months ago, her thundah was stowen. I think she denied the woomahs thinking she'd just make her big announcement waiter and it'd be some big deal.
ReplyDeleteSo supwise, evweebody, Bawbwa Wawa's weetiwing!
Read her autobiography. It's very good and I think explains her work ethic. She led the way for other women, but IMO she should have stopped the celebrity interviews a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteLong overdue.
ReplyDeleteThe thing she does when she has a one-on-one interview with a VIP-- she'll tuck her arm through theirs like they are new besties as they stroll through the garden-- makes me want to shake her until her dentures rattle.
Barara was a groundbreaker, and a very good journalist for many years.
ReplyDeleteShe helped pave the way for women in serious journalism, not just doing the fluff pieces. I think she is probably a workaholic and just didn't know how to stop.
She may be wax and botox, but she actually still looks great,so kudos for having a great doctor.
I am with you Del Riser she paved the way for many Women in Journalism and really mocking a speech defect? Wow. I think younger Women sometimes do not realize how hard it was to succeed in a male dominated world 40 years ago and I am happy for that because it means people like Barbara, Helen, Bella and Gloria had success in what they tried to do.

ReplyDeletebig annoucement my ass
ReplyDeletewe couldnt wait till ya old ass got off. No pleads for ANYONE to stay on
I hope she retires The View with her. That show is the ultimate crapfest. It even spawned a worse show on CBS. I think Julie Chen thinks she's the next Barbara WaWa
