With the soon to be filming remake of Vacation, I thought I would ask what is your favorite Vacation movie? If you have not seen any of them, I would settle for your favorite sequel of any movie.
Ohhh man... Christmas is first just because, and I then Summer and European (I did the same thing the first time I drove on a roundabout). I haven't seen any of the others.
I love that Ed Helms is going to be in it. He's the perfect blend of awkwardly funny. (And I'm still HATING what they're doing to The Office in its farewell season. Downright mean.)
Christmas without a doubt - can watch it all year and still cry from laughing so hard. Original would be second & the a tough call on 3rd/4th. I remember going to see Stonehenge many moons ago & my Dad was like "look, its still there. I thought Clark Griswold knocked it down" - of course, I was a mortified teenager then, but if I go there now I'd probably say the same thing!
All I remember from those movies is Christy Brinkley stalking Chevy Chase ( even as a kid I thought it was creepy ) and I seem to remember a dead grandma in the car?
Favorite sequel of all time? Easy!!!!! Spiderman 2!! My favorite of the series BY FAR! ( ok going to crawl back to my nerd hole )
JoElla, in the original Audrey is asked if she has ever French Kissed. She says yes, and her cousin (Jane Krakowski) replies, "yeah, but Daddy says I'm the best."
The First Vacation was my favorite. Writing visual jokes is easy but writing funny dialogue is a lot harder. John Hughes could write the funniest dialogue. The movie was just pure Fun. The sequel was lazy and sexist. Christmas Vacation is very good - but I've seen it sooooooo many times I feel I need at least a 5 year break from it.
Favorite sequel - Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (don't start with me about that 'but it's a prequel' stuff) and Godfather Part II.
European Vacation for sure! Whenever we're having trouble finding a place it's always "Look kids: Big Ben. Parliament." And when there's nothing on TV (especially at a hotel) it's "God there is nothing on but the cheese channel!"
Best sequel? Godfather II and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
It's a toss up between the original and Christmas Vacation. But, I'll pick Christmas, simply because it's a tradition to watch it every year and I reference it every time drama breaks out at a holiday.
Christmas, but I love the original as well. And watching the Vegas one is where we discovered that my dog does not care for Minnie Riperton's "Loving You" at all.
I am ok with another remake, but I think Ed Helms is miscast.
European Vacation!
ReplyDeleteThat's a tough one but I think the Christmas one
ReplyDeleteI can't choose between Christmas and Vegas. I quote both of them all the time!!! Don't get cheap on me :)
ReplyDeleteThe original was the best with the Christmas one coming in a close second.
ReplyDeleteChristmas! whenever im yelling at home, i think to myself the hallelujah! holy shit! Where's the tylenol? speech. cheers me right up.
ReplyDeleteAll of them!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteEuropean Vacation was my fave hands down
ReplyDeleteChevy Chase's douchery has ruined those movies for me. Plus, I dont find incest funny.

Vegas is my favorite. Wayne Newton and Nick Papagiorgio cracked me up.
ReplyDelete@auntliddy - me too! (about Chevy Chase). Never seen any of them just because he's in them. Didn't know there was an incest theme.
ReplyDeleteChristmas Vacation. Hands down bar none. "I'm going to catch it in the coat, and smack it w a hammer."
ReplyDeleteChristmas! @mmshukla I also say that and I always say It is a bit nipply out when it's cold. I could quote that movie all day long!
ReplyDeleteNever seen a vacation movie. IDK if it counts as a sequel, but I would pick Godfather 2 as my favourite.
ReplyDeleteEuropean Vacation!

ReplyDeleteThe original. The rest in order for me are Christmas, European, and Vegas.
ReplyDeleteIzzie, what's your Office gripe? I'm not sure I follow...
Well crud - Annette Funicello (sp?) just died :( .
ReplyDelete@SusanB. Awwww. I used to love watching Frankie and Annette at the beach when I was a kid.
DeleteAll I remember from those movies is Christy Brinkley stalking Chevy Chase ( even as a kid I thought it was creepy ) and I seem to remember a dead grandma in the car?

Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteOriginal. I love John Candy. Christmas is in second for me.
ReplyDeleteEuroXmas too.... didn't he and the Mom have and affair? Beverly D'Angelo? Great movie.
ReplyDeleteChristie wasn't stalking him that I can see. They were just kept ending up in the same place at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAunt Edna was the one dead in the car and later tied to the roof. And later left on a chair on the porch in the rain. Tough day for Aunt Edna.
Favorite sequel?
ReplyDeleteEmpire Strikes Back.
Terminator 2 would be second...
Incest? Okay I am so outta the loop! Can someone please explain that part to me. #clueless
ReplyDelete@JoElla
DeleteCousin Vicki: I'm going steady, and I French kiss.
Audrey Griswold: So? Everybody does that.
Cousin Vicki: Yeah, but Daddy says I'm the best at it.
They need to STOP. leave the Vacation movies alone, and let them be great!
ReplyDeleteThe original Vacation.
ReplyDeleteFavorite sequel? Toy Story 3/Aliens/Silence of the Lambs? Can't pick.
JoElla, in the original Audrey is asked if she has ever French Kissed. She says yes, and her cousin (Jane Krakowski) replies, "yeah, but Daddy says I'm the best."
ReplyDeleteI still love that movie
Lol thanks AKM for cleaning that up! I haven't seen those movies in 20 years! And lol poor Aunt Edna !!!
ReplyDelete*clearing
Deleteoh yeah - favorite sequel(s): Empire Strikes Back, Godfather Part II, Desperado
ReplyDeleteChristmas!
ReplyDeleteEuropean Vacation for sure!
ReplyDeleteOMG Pairs I totally forgot about that! eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwww
ReplyDeleteChristmas. This is a yearly classic with my whole family. One of my favorite scenes is when the squirrel comes out of the Christmas tree.
ReplyDeleteThe First Vacation was my favorite. Writing visual jokes is easy but writing funny dialogue is a lot harder. John Hughes could write the funniest dialogue. The movie was just pure Fun. Room With A View.
ReplyDeleteOne of my dad's favorite movies of all time was Weekend at Bernie's 2. Apparently it's much better than Weekend at Bernie's 1
ReplyDeleteVegas Vacation!
ReplyDeleteChristmas.... It's gonna be the hap hap happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby danced with Danny fucken Kay....
ReplyDeleteChristmas for sure...I know the entire script at this point.
ReplyDeleteEuropean Vacation for sure! Whenever we're having trouble finding a place it's always "Look kids: Big Ben. Parliament." And when there's nothing on TV (especially at a hotel) it's "God there is nothing on but the cheese channel!"
ReplyDeleteBest sequel? Godfather II and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
whichever one has the line "My daddy says I'm the best French kisser!"
ReplyDeleteIt's a toss up between the original and Christmas Vacation. But, I'll pick Christmas, simply because it's a tradition to watch it every year and I reference it every time drama breaks out at a holiday.
ReplyDeleteFavorite sequels:
ReplyDeleteGodfather 2
Terminator 2
The second Bourne movie (Ultimatium?)
Aliens
Christmas hands down. Know it by heart. "Shitter's Full!"
ReplyDeleteThe original Vacation is my favorite. Sorry, but I refuse to watch the new one. Why mess with a good thing?
ReplyDeleteEurotrip. Scotty Doesn't know
ReplyDeleteEuropean Vacation. "My family and I are looking for sex."
ReplyDeleteEuropean!! No question.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the Vacation movies, but I did love Caddyshack. Bill Murray is awesome. I can hear that 'I'm All Right' and still see that gofer dance.
ReplyDeleteThat is a toughie. I've seen them all but it's hard to choose between European Vacation and Christmas Vacation. Those are my favourites.
ReplyDeleteVegas, Baby! I know it's cheesy, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteThey are all good, my #1 is Vegas.
ReplyDeleteThe original movie was intended to be more raunchy, and it was, but the family theme caught fire and the sequels adjusted accordingly.
Christmas, but I love the original as well. And watching the Vegas one is where we discovered that my dog does not care for Minnie Riperton's "Loving You" at all.
