The Rock makes The WWE Very Popular

Last night, John Cena won the WWE world heavyweight title from The Rock. It was the biggest grossing event in WWE history as almost 81,000 people watched the event and paid $12.3M for the privilege  That does not even count all the television money. Bringing back The Rock once a year is paying off big for the WWE. Cena had to win because the WWE can't afford The Rock full-time but it was nice to see him last year and last night going back to his roots and at least acknowledging how he became famous and not turning his back on it. You don't see Stacy Keibler doing the same thing.

  1. Stacy Keibler might be back after her current gig runs out- should be shortly.

  2. love the rock. but what's the deal with him? never linked to anyone, keeps such a low profile. no scandals. what's the gossip on him?

  3. It helps The Rock too. He had a few movies come out and reminding the WWE crowd that they like him probably helped his movies.

  4. Oh, I remember when Keibler was with the Dudley Boyz

  5. Stacy would be glad to go back and has asked more than once. The WWE turned her down. Many wrestling sites reported this.

I'm not ashamed to admit my love for The Rock. And yes, it's love. Twu Wuv.

I follow PeeWee Herman on twitter and he was tweeting about this all night. Who knew he was such a big fan? He's hilarious and flipping adorable. Viva la PeeWee!

  9. The Rock is one pretty man. Me. Ow.

  10. I kind of admire celebrities who keep a low profile and don't do much to be gossiped about. Makes them much more like us regular folk.

  11. The Rock is like fine wine. He's getting better and better with age. Gotdayum.

  12. I like that he is respectful of his roots too. Was Kiebler really a wrestler? The women are such cartoons in that world, it's funny. I like the Rock, he's sexy, seems nice, down to earth, what's not to like?

  13. Haha @ Alicia, same here. I adored him in that Tooth Fairy movie!

  14. I hope Stacy ends up winning an Oscar or something. My sister-in-law danced at the sane studio in high school and she hates her. It really burns her ass when Stacy does well for herself, so you go, Stacy Keibler!

  15. I believe the Rock was married for many years, and is relatively recently divorced. I saw a clip of him trying to chat up Ellen DeGeneres on her show, to predictable results.

When the Joe Jonas 'sex tape' chatter started to make the rounds, I thought: who wants to see as sex tape starring Joe Jonas? Give me the Rock in all his glory. That I'll pay money for.

  19. Can't imagine George would be too keen on Stacy doing WWE. He wouldn't even let her do DWTS, Enty.

  20. I love him in his jammies on the milk commercial....all sorts of things run thru my mind (sorry little girls) you can have the milk I'll take the man

  21. I love the Rock since his wrestling days, he's hot and seems like a nice guy.

  22. I too find rock very likable. As fir hossip, he was married for years, has a daughter, and ideally, so boring no one bothers to write about him.

  23. Stacey is doing all her wrestling in the confines of George's bedroom these days.

  24. I'm not a super fan like I used to be, but I did order Wrestlemania 29
last night because of The Rock.
OT, I met my childhood hero, Bret the Hitman Hart a couple of years ago. He was so nice to all the fans.

  26. Love the Rock and his movies. Thought John Cena was very handsome in "The Marine."

  27. When I lived in Santa Monica, I saw The Rock eating breakfast at the Firehouse Cafe in Venice Beach ( think it was across the street from his gym). Despite me following him to his car (unbeknownst to him), he did NOT fall in love with me. I repeat, he did NOT fall in love with me
    (He's soooooooooooo cute though!!)

  28. The Rock does not owe the WWE anything and neither does Stacy Keilbler.

  29. I love the Rock. Wish he tried to do more comedies, he really is quite funny and has great timing.

(And is very, very easy on the eyes.)

  30. The Rock has gossip. He was a notorious flirt and cheated on his wife a lot, hence the divorce. Supposedly he made some female wrestlers uncomfortable with the flirting it was so bad. I have a friend who he personally hit on. Told her which hotel he was staying at and everything.

And for the record I'm not a Cena fan either for the same reason. He recently got divorced after cheating. He was linked to a porn star and now is dating a female wrestler.

Oh and we watched Wrestlemania last night and while my son loved it, it wasn't as good as years past. No celeb fights, the main event didn't have performers, and for heavens sake they inducted Donald trump into the Hall of Fame. I guess they spent too much money having P Diddy and The Rock there. Oh I forgot Brock Lesnar too.

I was glad to see Trish Stratus and Mick Foley get inducted though.

  31. This kills me every time. Not often a man can rock a pink silk dress and feather wings with that haircut.

    And hanging with Stephen Merchant.

  32. Sorry if I sounded whiny, major sleep deprivation coupled with all the moving, painting, and the fact that I just spilled an entire XL soda on me and my light colored floor board has me foul today. Plus I've been off caffeine for a week and am feigning.

  33. This wasn't a yearly event for him he 's done multiple ppvs since the fall. He wrestles because he wants to give back and give a needed boost to the business which made him a star. He may be on Wrestlemania next year too if his schedule allows it.

  34. The Rock is great and John Cena is a rooster. Too bad it had to finish with Rock losing.

  35. I'm only a second time poster here, but had to throw this in there. The Rocks dad and grandfather were both professional wrestlers and he's always wanted to "make them proud". I'm sure that's why he keeps returning. :)

As for Cena? I used to a WWE employee (not a wrestler) who told me that he had a soft spot for the guys. Before he got married I was told (take it for what it's worth?) that he made out with a male waiter one night while on the road. Most of the guys would have phone sex with their wives/girlfriends, but Cena very rarely spoke to his Gf at the time.

  36. I told my husband I might pay to watch this because of the rock. He harrumphed and I said, if you had the opportunity to see Charlize Theron half-naked wouldn't you pay? He nodded.

  37. I find John Cena incredibly boring. We always watch WWE on Saturdays and it's been so good having The Rock to watch.

  38. I love the Rock and think he is so fine!

@Cassandra Kelly both Brett and his brother Owen were sweethearts.

Living in Memphis in the early 80's My brother was a wrestler during that time so have access to that life was wonderful. I was lucky enough to get to meet some of the wrestlers and even party with some. My ex was there every Sat. morning no matter what as he was totally nuts about them and was constantly talking to them. When I would go they would laugh and tease me like a little sister and stuff and it would bug him as he didn't have that kind of thing. I was pregnant and the wives would ask how I was doing and Jerry Lawler's wife would bring me desserts from their restaurant they had if she knew I was coming.

I loved watching Lawler and Bill Dundee partner up. The same with seeing Randy Savage or Roddy Piper be complete nuts in the ring and then be fine backstage.

  39. @Lisa..

WOW! What an amazing experience to have had! Wrestling was so much better back than too.

Comparing the Rock to Stacey Keibler is like apples and oranges. She was not a wrestler, she was in more of an "eye candy" type role. It is totally understandable if she doesn't go back to WWE as the Rock does. Give her a break, Enty!!

  40. I watched it, it had a PPV feel but definitely not a WM feel. P Diddy was awful, there were absolutely no surprises or swerves. A lot of fans were hoping for Ziggler to cash in the briefcase or to see Cena turn heel after winning (not that anyone was naive enough to think THAT would ever happen), but there was nothing. They also had to scrap a couple of events.

I think Rocky will always come back to the WWE because he can get a massive paycheck for not much effort. He probably made more appearing at WM than he did in his last 2 movies.

  41. I don't know, my guess is that G.I. Joe and Fast & Furious 6 are making him a shit-ton of dough. And worth every penny!
