Rihanna Needs To Go To Rehab

I have said it before and I will say it again. Rihanna needs rehab. She needs it in a big way and at this point, drugs are the reason why her behavior has been so erratic. Previously it would cause her to miss little things or be a little late. Now, her drug use causes her to cancel shows and show up to events four or more hours late. The problem is that Rihanna sells a bunch of records and employs a bunch of people who are all dependent on their income from her so who is going to tell her that she needs to go. Who is going to be that friend in her life that tells her she needs to go. The friend that will be yelled at and maybe banished forever from the Rihanna orbit.

Yesterday Rihanna was forced to cancel a show in Houston. She will cancel lots more before this is all done.

  1. Addiction sucks ass. Hope she gets help.

  2. I have mixed feelings about her. I know how hard it is to kick an addiction but she's a person that has it all and it's throwing it down the drain. It makes it hard to feel sorry for her.

  3. She needs to take care of herself. If doctors are telling you to slow down, slow down this lifestyle. She's a gorgeous girl, I imagine how much more beautiful she would be if she took care of herself. Such a sad cycle these young stars go through.

  4. Or, one hopes, eventually her fans will catch on and just stop paying to see her shows. That should get her attention, if nothing else does.

  5. MediaFAKEout has a blind item similar to this...hmmm,

  6. she is on Jay Z label. He should sit her ass down hard and give her an ultimatum rehab or the label will drop support of her.

Oh who am I kidding she will keep going until the cash cow dies.

  7. yup @robert.

too many people trying to be where she is. instead of fans waiting around to see her through her issues, they will find someone else who can actually come through with their performances and music.

on that note, anyone heard of nikki williams? her new song is titled "glowing". very catchy.

  8. Considering how she was raised, is it surprising? Addiction IS hell on earth, I can attest to that. Be well, Riri. :(

  9. RIhanna loovvves cocaine. No one tells her no. like ever. I went to dinner with her and her assistant and 2 other people from Roc Nation...She and Melissa got into an argument about Rihanna's drug use while we we're walking to the restaurant, Rihanna picked Melissa up and threw her into the bushes. I was horrified. She better get it together, people are sick of her.

  10. I used to feel for RiRi after the whole Turd Brown incident a few years ago, but nowadays, all of her actions are self-induced.

Houston does not want her to re-book her canceled concert. We have plenty of talented home-grown local and regional musicians from Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana that work hard, travel constantly, consistently show up for gigs on time and put on a helluva a show. Oh yeah, and they DON'T lip-sync!

Go get help for your "illness" and quit glamorizing the use of cannabis on instagram and other social media.

  12. @hollywood dime, what do you think the proportion of coke use is in the entertainment industry?

looking at this site, seems like everyone is on it.

  13. I think she has to get drugged up to hang with Douche Brown. Not sure it is worth it just to peg his ass.

  14. @ T.E. Its every where and so easy to get, I'd say 50-60% are have used it, tried it or are users in some way. The bar at Chateau Marmont has a "welcome to Hollywood cake" Its a small chocolate cake that come out on a mirror with 5 white lines of powdered sugar on top to look like cocaine. That's how accepted it is. The crystal meth use is whats shocking.

  15. @h'wood dime, fergie used to be a meth head, right? and i'm guessing tara reid as well?

    that's so scary. :(

  16. She'd better get help fast, but she is not a smart person, so I doubt she will.

I know, I know, smart people are addicts too, but it certainly doesn't help to be stupid too.

  17. What gets me is a lot of you folks are ones saying, no big deal to smoke some pot, do a little blow. Why is it a problem for her, but not for you?

  18. hollywood dime - Those are the details I love to get on this site. Thanks for sharing.

  19. nightowl, it is a problem when someone can't function without it.

People who recreationally use drugs, and can go weeks without even thinking about it do NOT have a problem.

  20. So she's the one who had the overdose?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I have also hear crystal meth is really not a big thing in LA. What gives man! METH!

  22. I meant, it's used openly and frequently but people outside of the crackle universe as a party drug.

  23. Friday night is one thing, but if I was doing a rail and a shot of vodka on Monday morning at the office, I would have a problem.

  24. I wonder if she's the 'popular superstar' who overdosed two nights ago....

    ReplyDelete
  25. She thinks this is the lifestyle. If she doesnt ser a problem, I doubt she will fix it. Honestly, she seems a little thick and like she wants to show everyone she gives zero fucks. When people express concern she basically tells them to go eat dicks. Ok, girl. Do whatever the hell you want.

  27. @timebob-Rihanna is NOT signed to Jay Z's label. She is signed to Def Jam. She is however managed by Jay Z's Roc nation. Which means he probs gets 20 percent maybe more of her revenue. I don't think he particularly cares too much what she's up to as long as she's working. Besides not saying I believe ALL of this. Where is the proof? She cancelled a couple of shows and has poor time keeping? It is bad to let down the fans but where are the receipts? People only rushing to believe it because it suits them to.

@ Hollywood Dime - Appreciate the info but two things. Rihanna's friend Melissa is a big girl (Tall) and looks quite sturdy. How is Rihanna throwing such a person? Also, to not be rude but Melissa looks to be on the old sniff sniff herself (Perhaps something else). She used to look quite cute but looks so hard faced now. Anyway how can one garner 'how bad' someone's addiction is from hanging out one night? Can you share any more on what Rihanna has been up to?

  29. This has been obvious for a long time.

It's also obvious that until the money is seriously affected no one in her entourage is going to lift a finger to help her.

Does she get writing credit on her "songs"? If not she makes her money by touring and if she keeps canceling left and right the money drying up could be sooner rather than later.

  30. I thought Katy Perry was somewhat of a good influence on her..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but after Brown (for Rihanna) and before Brand (for Katy) they were pretty close and Rih didn't get in that much trouble.

I followed her Instagram for a while, and it's all about 'ThugLife', 'NiggasBcrazy', tons of weed, talking about drugs, showing obscure photos of Chris Brown etc. Nothing of substance. A couple of years ago she seemed like a completely different person; not trying to be cool, ghetto and shit. She looks like such a show off right now, almost the ghetto version of 'punk/tough'Miley Cyrus.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Katy Perry has her own love of coke, so she wasn't likely a very good influence on Rihanna at all.

  32. She's going to end up like Whitney Houston :(

  33. From experience. Starts with an "out-of-nowhere" abuse. Straight to denial. Next stop weight loss. Final step-horrible decisions that cause excommunication because you feel you can act like you are bigger and better than the original issue. Unfortunately, you are numb and sick and unless you can see the forest for the trees, and at least have a family ( real family and friends that will call you out ) that looks out for you-You're fucked. Thank God I had people around me that knew I was deeply depressed over the fact I was "not that girl" but opted to help me shred the stigma. I didn't have multi-millions and "yes" people. Thanks be to that. She's making excuses and she is as good as dead if she doesn't recognize.

  34. *I've split this into a few post so that I don't lose some of it. I don't know if any of you will actually read the whole thing, but I'm trying to give a little insight into life in show biz. Commenting on this site, and doing it with such long post is just a tool to help myself get through a tough time. I apologize to all of you for taking up so much space!*

I just thought I should comment on the numbers Hollywood Dime was throwing out about cocaine use in Hollywood. I haven't been in the business for 40 years, but I've been in it long enough to have seen a dramatic change in drug use over the years.

Here's one of the deep dark secrets of Hollywood... most of the people regularly working in the business go to bed before 10. They have to get up at 4 or 5am to get to the set so they go to sleep early. They get to stay up late on Weekends or when they've got a lull in shooting, or they're doing press for something, or doing a night shoot for their movie/TV show. Of course they could be doing drugs during those times, but the reality is... the majority of people in this business are boring as hell.

Music is a whole other animal however. I think Hollywood Dime might be mixing actors and actresses with musicians. Because in music it's an insane level of drug use. I guess when I think "Hollywood" I think actors and actresses, and I think most of the people I know in Hollywood think of it the same way. Yes, it's all a part of "show biz", but the way that those two parts of show biz work is VERY different.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hollywood Dime mentioned meth, it's not nearly as rampant as he/she makes it sound. It's popular with a lot of the stars kids, as well as film/TV executive's kids... but it's not very big in the acting world. Maybe with people that haven't acted in a long time, but regular working actors don't mess with it because they risk losing their looks. Of course that doesn't stop some of them, but most actors are very careful with what they put into their body because they have some health guru telling them that they can prevent wrinkles if they eat this and not that. A lot of younger actresses smoke because they say it keeps them thin... but most of the young actresses that I have known over the years stop by the time they hit their mid 20's. I know it seems like everyone smokes, or does drugs, or drinks, but the overwhelming majority of actors and actresses are super careful with what they put into their body. It wasn't always that way though, and I think that's where a lot of people have their ideas of Hollywood from. "It was like that in the 80's and 90's..." But over the last decade it's changed dramatically.

When I got into the business cocaine was still fairly popular, (not just in Hollywood, but throughout the country), and you would show up to some parties and they'd have a room with a table that had a mound of coke on it. The thing is, the rooms that had the drugs in them weren't filled to the brim with people. This was the case at every party I went to, and the only people I would see in those rooms were actors that weren't getting the parts that they used to get and some lower level executives and producers.

Over time those parties would have fewer and fewer big names showing up... not because the parties weren't fun, or the food was bad, or the person throwing the party was no longer famous/powerful... but they didn't show up because they didn't like the "Caligula" atmosphere. Of course those parties are still thrown, but you're not going to see very many big name actors that still get regular work at them. Instead you'll find Lindsey Lohan, some porn stars, some aspiring film makers and actors, lower level executives and producers, etc. This business has a ton of people working in it, what you hear on these sites and on TV is only about 10 or 15 percent of the business. The Screen Actors Guild merged with AFTRA, so now they say that the membership is at 160,000 or so. AFTRA has far easier guidelines to become a member, but in SAG you had to make a certain amount each year to continue being a member. They had different amounts depending on the type of actor you were, (background and commercial actors didn't have the same numbers as movie stars). You had to pay your dues (financially speaking) to be considered an active SAG member.

I'm getting way off track from my original reason for writing this... the point is, you're only hearing about 10 or 15 percent of the people that make up this business. And perhaps you're basing your ideas on Hollywood off of crazy stories that you've heard, stories that took place in the 60's, 70's, 80's, or maybe the 90's. As I said earlier, the music business is a whole other beast. If you think the world of acting is hard on people, well, don't get into the music business, because it's so much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know this whole post is all over the place, but as I've posted on a few of the other stories on this site, I'm just trying to do my part to educate people that are not in the business, or are on the fringes of the business, what our world is really like.

Back to the main point of this whole thing... Meth is used in music a ton, as is cocaine, (of course weed is huge, you just have to listen to a few songs to know that!) But the majority of show biz is not like that anymore. The real issue is prescription drugs. I know a lot of people have mentioned Adderall, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about sleeping prescription pills.

With all of the traveling and night shoots our sleep schedules can be a little off. While most go to bed early, they will still have a few days here or there where they're schedule is thrown off. For actors in particular, the big thing is "beauty sleep", so when a lot of people have one night of restless sleep they freak out and go to the doctor. I know it sounds stupid, but so many people in this biz believe in beauty sleep, and they will go to great lengths to get it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I try to get my sleep when I can, but I travel a little more than the average person in this business. Plus I have a family history of sleep issues. It's why I'm posting on a gossip site at all hours. I've gone to the doctors, I've tried all of the pills, and I was becoming dependent on them to sleep. I needed them when I was traveling, when I was doing night shoots and had to sleep during the day... but I also had to use them when I hadn't been traveling for awhile and I had a regular work schedule where I had to be on set at 5am and then get home at 5 or 6pm. You would think that I wouldn't have an issue sleeping then, but I had become so used to needing pills to fall asleep that my brain wouldn't let me sleep until it had it's "medicine".

So when I see Hollywood Dime talking about Meth and cocaine as being the biggest things in Hollywood... I just laugh. Yeah, those are used by the down and out (it's part of the reason they're down and out in the first place) and by people in the music biz, but by far the biggest issue for movies and TV stars is prescription pills.

Pain pills are also big with actors that do their own stunts. While most stunts won't get you killed, they can bang up your body pretty bad. So you start taking the pills because you truly need them, but then you go and do another movie where you've got to do stunts again... it just keeps going. I know you might think that they're "addicts" in the traditional sense, like the people going from doctor to doctor to get pills... but the actors I'm talking about don't take more pills then they are prescribed, they don't go from doctor to doctor, they are genuinely hurt. I mean actual damage that doctors can see, bones that didn't heal right, torn muscles, arthritis when they're in their 30's, you get the idea.

These are the two biggest drug issues in Hollywood. We're an industry filled with people dependent on pain and sleep meds so that we can function. I stopped the sleep meds recently, and now I'm going through hell sleeping an hour or two once every two days. I have commitments for movies that have huge budgets, so I can't take time off to sort it all out. Many are in the same boat as I am, and it results in them having a breakdown, going back to the pills, or taking some time off to go to a sleep specialist. I've chosen to tough it out, so instead of going for the pill bottle I'm going to the laptop and commenting endlessly on a gossip site. So if you are wondering why my post are so long, it's because it helps me to not think about taking a pill to fix my problems. I would rather comment on a gossip site then have a very public meltdown... which I was headed for not long ago. So I guess Enty can take credit for saving me! :)

Anyway, this simply an outlet for me, so if you're going into the comments of a story and you see my name, I won't blame you for skipping over it. Thanks to all of you for indulging me, I don't know how much I'll be commenting on here, but when I do I will try to educate everyone on what's really happening in Hollywood, or what's happening with a particular person. I don't know if I will tell you who is gay, or who is a drug addict, or who is cheating on their wife... but when I do comment it will probably be to tell you who isn't doing those things. Alright, that's enough out of me, thanks again everybody!

FASCINATING! Feel free to comment as much as you want JayJay. I think many of us use this site and commenting as an outlet. I've often wondered that about Hollywood, about people having early mornings and supposedly partying late. I'm glad I'm not the only boring, early to bed type. I think everyone does look wayyyy better with plenty of beauty rest. Plus, the coke and meth use would definitely be a problem when one is trying to sleep early, or at all.

  39. On the cocaine/Hollywood subject, I also think it's important to note that it's more fun to do coke and then go somewhere like a nightclub or stay home or at the home of a friend or dealer/friend. Huge "Caligula" parties are just a waste of an evening, unless you happen to be in the small fraction of human beings who enjoy voyeurism/exhibitionism, and that's not a big slice of human beings who like that nonsense. Stay home and do drugs, drug addicts -- phone in a few hookers, a la Sheen, and start smoking and injecting.

I really logged in because of the "go to rehab" meme that Enty was pushing. Drug addicts don't all benefit from rehab. Rihanna in particular doesn't have a personality that could benefit from talking to human beings in a closed environment. Her narcissism and her "issues" are too great. She would need to be put in a clinic for six months to ten years to make a dent in her pathology.

  40. JayJay, I just watched the film "Crying for Love" on Netflix and loved loved loved loved loved it. Pillpopping Hollywood in the late 70s.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @Anna Nonymous I was worried people would think I was rambling on, so I'm glad I'm not the only one using the comment section as an outlet.

@Barton Fink I certainly don't want people to think that I'm naively saying no one does drugs in Hollywood, and I certainly have known people over the years that do coke at home and then spend all day scrubbing the floors on their hands and knees... then they call the maid and say they're not needed for the day!

But again, it's not a huge chunk of Hollywood. Most of the people in Hollywood are normal, except they have a job that they love; a job that's pretty unique. But Tom Hanks would be the same person if he were an accountant. He'd still be goofy as hell, he'd still be kind, and he'd still collect type writers, (he just might have fewer of them!)

Also, I have to say you're on the money with your "go to rehab" comment. It just doesn't work for some people. A lot of addicts, famous or not, just have a hard time being open in group. They're afraid to admit things that they're embarrassed about, they're afraid that they will be judged, or that the information will get out. And lets face it, sometimes horrible things happened in their lives to send them down this path. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, a parent that abandoned them, or witnessing something horrible like a murder. The traditional rehab just doesn't work for them, so they, their family and friends, or the people that work for or with them, have to figure out an alternative way to deal with their issues.

Thanks everyone, I guess this is turning into MY "alternative way to deal"!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks @jayjay for the info! I always love to hear from people who actually know what's going on, because the rest of us can speculate all we want to, but we don't truly know the story!
