  1. Rebel Wilson looks like Jonah Hill in drag.

KStew and RPattz could really use an industrial strength shower.

I like Seth Rogan. I think he's funny.

    1. Sansabelt was a brand of pants from the 70's/80's. They had an adjustable interior waistband, so you could wear them sans a belt.

      Delete
  4. "sans a belt" "sans" is French for "without."

Rebel looks really made up in the pic. Photo shoot? Also, I really hate those LV bags.

Seth is getting work again. :-)

    1. Well yes, that is what it means, but Enty is, of course, referring to the slacks that were branded by Silver Manufacturing in the late 50's, as Sansabelt, featuring the wide elastic band sewn into the waist. Literally, needing no suspenders or belt, or sans a belt. :)

    2. Everyone's grandpa used to wear Sansabelts. Sansabelts pulled up snugly to just above the belly button :-).

  12. I dunno. If I was eating in a restaurant and that Rebel Wilson person approached me out of nowhere, I might tell her to f*** off myself.

Sansabelt pants used to be heavily advertised on 1960's game shows, like "Let's Make a Deal".
    *sighs that I know this*

  16. I was subjected to the movie "Bachelorette" over the weekend, and the moment when Rebel Wilson pantomimes snorting and injecting drugs was the only funny thing in that whole movie.

    And those slippers rock.

I'm always glad to see a pic of RDJ. He looks like a man who is happy and appreciates where he is in life.

  17. I believe Enty is referring to the 1970s era brand of men's pants called "Sansabelt." Now I feel old for knowing that. They didn't have belt loops, so Tom looks weird with loops but no belt.

I see Tom's still sportin' his steroidy-looking puffy jaw below the ears.

Oh Rebel, fully matching workout clothes with contrasting shoes doesn't do anyone favors but that neon green with neon pink is eye-killing.

I wonder how p*ed Tom would be if he knew the pap behind him is wearing the same pants. I demanded Xenu pants!

    I <3 Seth Rogen!

  23. RDJ Has aged so well and his stylist needs to get a bonus ASAP. He is so hip!

Regardless of the info dished her on CDAN about Ryan Reynolds, I find him to be a great comedic actor. His movie Just Friends has cracked me up since I first watched it. Wish he did more like that.

Same goes for Tom Cruise. He may be bat-shit crazy, but I love him in his movies. Only after a while did I realize I was a fan. When I went through his IMBD one day, I realized there were a lot of movies he has done that I really like! And yes, I will be at Oblivion next week.

As for Morgan Freeman...he is great and all, but I have a quick story. About 15 years ago, my brother and I stopped into a deserted gas station to get some junk to eat and an icee. It was 11pm at night, in Vegas. Suddenly, we saw a limo pull up and out walks Morgan Freeman. Now, we are just as big fans as the next guy and couldn't believe it. He walked over to get a drink right next to us. Naturally, we were star struck and started to say hello. He looked hung over or something, hair all over the place, and no make-up on so his bad skin complexion really stood out. He was dressed semi-casual. Could have been a meeting he had been at but we figured more of a bad date. From the moment he walked out of the limo, he did not smile or have any expression for that matter. As we started to get in a quick hello, he put his big hand in front of our faces and said, "I don't have time for this right now." He paid for his drink and left in the limo. Of course we couldn't stand that mother fucker for a while, but over time, my brother and I came to realize there are a million reasons and things that factored into that night and in particular, that moment in his life. To this day, we laugh about it and have always made up shit of where he was and what has happening before our paths crossed!

  27. I was going to comment on what percentage of the people wanted Big Being #2's autograph were Scientology shills, but then I noticed that they'd cloned Tommy Davis. Twice. Now I'm a little creeped out and need to hide under my desk for a while.

  28. Kowalski and Taffy...Count me as another who remembers the "sansabelt" pants from the past.

I just don't find Seth Rogen a) cute or b) funny.

Great story Manatee! I'll bet losing a lot of money at the tables was one of the stories no doubt.

Rebel's head looks too small for her body and yep, the outfit is doing her no favors. Did anyone read the story about how Russell Crowe was his usual dick self when she went to tell Nicole Kidman thank you for her scholarship? What a tool RC is. I hope he ends his years in obscurity like Paris. And your music sucks too, you 30 odd grunt.

  40. Ok guys. Don't blame me if these are boring :)

I'll start with Mariah Carey: About 15 years ago, my brother was infatuated with Mariah Carey. He named his dog after her, wanted to name his child after her (he was out-voted) and told his ugly wife she looked just like her so he could scream Mariah's name out during sexy times! (I know! Barf! Funny thing is my horse-faced, idiotic, bitch-in-law believed, and still does, that she looks like Mariah Carey. It is an inside family joke!)

Mariah was new to the market and was everyone's darling. For my brother's birthday, I decided to treat him to one of her concerts that was coming to town. We went and had a blast! She is truly one of my favorite singers because she is such a natural talent and not a phony like so many others.

It was a freezing (!) night when the concert let out and late into the evening by the time we got outside the venue.

Since our parents worked in various casinos over a course of 20+ years, we knew the 'ins and outs' of all the back door entrances and exits into most casinos and venues in Vegas. They were very lax with security those days too!

So, instead of calling it a night and going home, my brother begged me to wait with him for Mariah at her exit so that he could catch a close-up glimpse of her as she drove away. How could I resist? It was his birthday!

We made our way around to where the artist's exit for this venue was and found a few more people there doing the same thing. In all, there must have been 8 of us gathered outside a huge dock-area, freezing our butts off and hoping to catch Mariah as she drove by in her limo.

After an hour, I couldn't take it and mentioned that maybe it was time to go. My brother insisted we stay. Another hour went by and I spoke up again. Again, I continued to wait with him and the others. Well into the 3rd hour, I don't think I could even open my lips to speak anymore because they were frozen shut! But he was my little brother and I was providing a "dream" for him as he put it.

Finally, the group saw Mariah at the far end of this loading dock getting into her limo. We all warmed up real quick with the screaming and arm waving we were doing to catch her attention. The limo started up and we were all pumped that her limo was going to drive by and she would get to see our silhouettes against her tinted limo window as she whisked herself away to her WARM penthouse suite.

As the limo approached, do you know that it STOPPED when it got in front of the group? Did it break down? Was a bodyguard going to jump out and beat us for being such annoying fans? Was one of Mariah's entourage going to scream at us to go home and get a life?

    NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Instead, as we stood in total silence at this unexpected development, the back window rolled down and there was the ever beautiful Mariah in all her glory! She stopped to meet and greet every single one of us. She sat there while we all shoke her hand and did a little bit of chatting. She was the warmest and most pleasant of all people. She thanked us for waiting in the cold for her and then drove off.

Needless to say, I think a few of those die-hard fan's heads popped off that night and they are still rolling around in the desert somewhere! I know my brother's is!

I wish I had a pic to share, but those were the days before digital cameras, internet, cell phones, etc. That is what made this moment that much more memorable. We did not have access to celebrity lives or gossip as easily as we do now. We relied on weekly supermarket tabloids and news coverage (not shows dedicated to entertainment either), to find out what was happening in the lives of our celebrities. So the fact that we got to "touch and talk" with Mariah was unheard of!

  41. I have been a fan of Morgan Freeman's since the day's of The Electric Company and Another World. Gads that makes me feel old lol.

Through the years I have been blessed with meeting many of the greats in country music. I have been fortunate in that having friends and family in country music has allowed me an inside look and love of the music and people. Sometimes more than what I have seen put here on the blog.

  43. Another quickie: Jessica Simpson brought her Reality Tour to town in 2004. My brother and his family happened to be at the venue (not the concert) and unexpectedly saw her and her entourage making their way up a back stair well after the concert.

My brother rushed over to her with his son in tow and asked if she would provide an autograph for his son, who was the cutest and biggest fan of hers.

She smiled and instead of just providing an autograph, she invited them to hang out with her in her VIP after party suite.

They stayed for almost an hour and where offered a full course meal and elbow rubbing with her whole clan. I think he even has pictures!

The event was clean and safe for even a 7 year old to attend (I think it was before she even met Nick and was new to the circuit). They left not because Jessica Simpson kicked them out, but because his horse-faced wife kept calling him to leave!

  46. LOL @Sunny - she is such a bitch! And she has been in the family since she was like 15 or something. The sad thing is that I haven't spoken to that brother in several years because over time, he too, has developed her twisted views and morals and slowly morphed into her! Sad really.

  47. I know there are plenty of you on here who have had celeb encounters or know someone who has. These are encounters from a person who typically doesn't deal with or work with celebrities, so they become a big deal when they occur. I'm sure yours are way more awesome than mine, so please feel free to chime in.

Last one for tonight- Part 1

My family and I were at Universal Studios one summer, minding our own business. Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of someone exiting the souvenir shop trailed by a small crowd. Before I knew it, the crowd got HUGE and formed into a circle.

Mr. Manatee is not a crowd person at all. So I turned and looked at him saying no words. He looked at me with rolled eyes, scooped baby manatee into his arms and gave me a disgusting nod of approval, which was my 'go ahead'.

As curiosity guided me through the tightly bound crowd, I swear when I surfaced in the middle of it, I had to grasp for air. The crowd was relentless and only getting bigger. I felt my legs pressing against a picnic table that everyone was gathered around.

As I looked around to see what the commotion was, there to my side, in all his greatness and glory, was Muhammad Ali! I couldn't believe it!

My town is a HUGE boxing town. I grew up hearing stories of this great legend and I was trying not to fall onto him. He had developed Parkinson's by this point, so he was sitting there looking down at the table and his arms shaking considerably. On the other side of him, was a lady who could have been either his wife or daughter. She had to bend over and yell into his ear in order for him to hear her.

That is what struck me the most. The crowd was making it impossible for Mr. Ali to situate himself to even begin to speak to them or do what they expected of him. It felt like a loud, packed concert with all the chatter and pushing and shoving that was going on. My legs were only getting more and more pressurized, so I could only imagine what Mr. Ali was feeling. The lady kept trying to avoid tipping over and was constantly rubbing his back to keep everyone off of him.

I kept wondering if Universal Security had accompanied them and where they were at in that moment. From my vantage point, all I could see was Muhammad Ali and the lady.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Part 2

I ended up being so close to this couple that I could hear the lady repeatedly asking Mr. Ali if he wanted to get up and go. Each time he said "No". Eventually, in the softest of voices, he said that he wanted to stay and sign some autographs. Unbeknownst to us, I think the lady and I had the same thought at the same time...Really?

So the lady began to grab the papers that were being shoved towards her and handing them to Mr. Ali. Surprisingly, Mr. Ali was pretty quick in signing his John Hancock. Since I was real close to getting paper cuts on my ears from the papers that were being shoved in my direction, I too, began to grab papers and put them in front of Mr. Ali to sign. I looked up for an instance at the lady and got a smile of approval for helping her out.

There was no greater moment than that moment for me. Somehow, I had unofficially become a non-assistant assistant to the Ali's. I mattered to those people to get their paper, stuffed toy, dirty drink cups, whatever they could shove our way, into the hands of the great Muhammad Ali to sign. I was suddenly in a position of authority and was in demand!

I couldn't see above the heads of the crowd, but I tried to get a glimpse of Mr. Manatee to see if he could see me in my self-appointed role [He later told me he thought for a weird brief moment he saw a golden glow come from the inner circle of the crowd ;)]. I was smitten!

This went on for a few minutes and abruptly ended when the lady saw how much Muhammad Ali was sweating. She told him it was time to go and started to help him up from the picnic table. I tried to do my part and help clear some of the crowd, but surprisingly, everyone cooperated and started to disperse once they saw him getting up.

As the pressure began to subside on my legs, I realized that there was more and more of a gap forming between me and Mr. Ali. I knew I had to act and do something to seal this moment in time for me and never forget the experience. The only thing I could do was reach out and gently touch his arm as he turned around and left.

That was enough for me. A moment in time with the great Ali!

  55. Those were awesome stories. I'm glad Mariah and Jessica and Mr. Ali are all nice.

I think the reason Tiny Tom doesn't wear a belt is because it would cut him in half, that all one color thing is what they tell shorties to do to give an illusion of length. I have no idea why 'I' a six ft tall thin Amazonian princess would need to know this..but there ya go. Ahem.

@figgy - Not even an Oprah sighting? :)

I'll see about posting a story here or there in the most recent Random Pics comment section so please look for me there. Especially if I see a celeb in the pics that I have a story for!

I know Enty just announced the CDAN forum as a place to do additional posting, but when I visited it, it still doesn't have enough momentum.
