Pippi Longstocking Claims Self Defense
I remember reading all the Pippi Longstocking books when I was a kid and I really thought they would make more than one movie considering there were so many books. The actress who played Pippi was Tami Erin. Although she was just 11 at the time, she is now 38 and lives in Northern California and people probably have no idea she played the role. Over the weekend she was arrested for hitting her male roommate. After she was released from jail she claims that the reason she hit the guy was because he was filming her. Not naked, but without her permission. I could see why she would be upset. At some point the guy started yelling and a neighbor came over and held Tami until the police arrived.
Now this is going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day
ReplyDeleteThat song just brightened up my whole morning!

Delete@VIP. Nope, not gonna click! ;)
ReplyDeleteI understand this!! I loathe getting my pic taken, so I can well imagine I'd go batshit if someone was filming me w/o my consent. Of course, it's not okay to hit someone, but I understand!
I was OBSESSED with that movie when I was little - I think there was a period of about 6 months where I watched it every single day.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking for Halloween. I ended up getting rear-ended and having to stand on the side of the road for almost an hour in full costume.
@VIP- you win the internet today :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, was OBSESSED with that movie when I was little. Didn't it go, Pippi Longstocking is here to save the day? Something like that. It was so fun, lighthearted and silly. And Tami Erin was perfect in the role, she was adorable. Why in the heck didn't they make more of those movies? Was it not a hit?
ReplyDeleteJust saw the link, thanks for that VIP, good clicky!
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading the story, the theme song was already playing in my head :-)
ReplyDeleteThere's only one Pippi, so this is an impostor!
ReplyDeleteI don't know many young boys that read pippi books
ReplyDelete@Katie: Ha, I was thinking the same--my brother read the Hardy boys and dungeons & dragons type books, while I read Pipi Longstocking and Anne of Green Gables.
ReplyDeleteOK. If she asked him to stop and he wouldn't stop filming, then I'd have hit him too...or kicked his camera. NO MEANS NO!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved pippi!! This sucks. If she doesn't like that imagine if she had gotten famous.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch Pippi Longstocking movies on TV when I was young, so there must have been other movies.
ReplyDeleteT-Grape!! I haven't seen a post from you in forever, darlin'!
ReplyDeleteI thought Pippi was played by a Swedish actress. I'm confused.
This is O.G. Pippi Longstocking clicky.
ReplyDeletePart of my family is Scandinavian, so there were some Aunts and Uncles that had all these movies on video for when the kids visited.
I was simultaneously fascinated and freaked-out how her voice never really seemed to match her lip movements or her size.
I was a kid growing up in Sweden when the American movie version came out. I was very upset, decided the movie sucked, and never watched it...*L* It was released in Sweden too, dubbed into Swedish, which almost never happens, we have subtitles. Xander - that is the Pippi I grew up with...but, you know, in Swedish...*L*
ReplyDelete@Maja with a J: PIPPILOTTA VICTUALIA RULLGARDINA KRUSMYNTA EFRAIMSDOTTER LÃ…NGSTRUMP!! Hahaha, Swedish pippi is the real Pippi in my book, I didn't even know there was an American one? So I read the headline of this post and went WTF there for a sec, lol
DeleteWow, she is smoking hot. I would actually buy PB for pics of her. How is she not getting regular work playing the guest star mom of victim or murderer on one of the procedurals?
ReplyDeleteI'd have whupped up on him too.
ReplyDeleteY'all need to watch "Hollywood Complex" on Netflix...you'll find out what Tami Erin has been up to...and it ain't pretty
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody else remember that blind from forever ago where enty ran into an actress in a resturaunt and he barely recognized her from back in the day, they talked forever and she spilled all kinds of secrets? Immediately thought of it after seeing this post.
ReplyDeletelol. i remember one time my boyfriend and i at the time were looking for his parents. we had just gotten back to his house, and it was about 7 at night, but we couldn't find them. after going through the whole house, we finally found them in their room, watching pippi longstocking. none of us had ever seen her before, and we were kind of like frozen, watching her weirdness. still makes me laugh now thinking about it.
