Nicki Minaj Blames Other Judges For Low American Idol Ratings

Far be it from Nicki Minaj to stay quiet when she can have an opinion. According to The Enquirer, Nicki is blaming all of her fellow judges for being boring and that in turn is leading to the lowest ratings ever for American Idol. It has been around forever. Maybe talent formats are dying out and with any show, the longer it is on the air, the lower the ratings get. The Voice is on right now and you are asking people to commit to two separate shows that are basically the same. The Voice is newer and fresher so it wins for now. I think the judges are the same as they have ever been and I think way too much focus is put on the judges. It should be about the talent.

    1. Looking at this person makes me feel like FSP's avi.

  2. To me, the main difference between American Idol and The Voice is that AI is about tearing people down, while The Voice is about building them up. Puts a much more positive spin on the whole competition genre. Plus nothing beats the Blake/Adam bromance!

    1. Agreed! I secretly watch The Voice when I'm on my treadmill. There no unnecessary drama and the banter between the judges is entertaining.

STOP CONTOURING YOUR FACE! Stop. Just stop. You look no less ridiculous now than you did with all the absurd colors because your makeup is showing so freaking much.
Although I guess if she stops she can't say that her nose job is just the work of makeup

  5. It's not worth weeding through the crappy "talent" on AI to see the one or two worthy performances. And the judges are not at all appealing. AI does stunt casting for its judges, and then only pays attention to the judges' egos.

The Voice has a very appealing slate of judge talent that actually supports the singers. And their singers are *far* more talented - probably because they are seasoned a bit and practiced on stage.

  6. I like Enty's spin on this. The show is old, period. The talent that I see, is usually the same, technically good singers that just sing a song technically well, but don't put enough passion/pain/personal experience in to their expression of the song. Nicki is annoying to watch because it's all about her, the maple syrup thing? She was talking on and on about how this person's voice was like maple syrup, how she heats it, puts it on waffles, etc. She loves to hear herself talk, although to be fair, obviously so do I.

  7. I don't understand why she is a judge in the first place. She's still relatively new compared to Mimi and KU; and is not talented at all, IMO. She does a wonky voice and has a big ass, I could do that and for half the money.

  8. This is the first season I haven't watched American Idol from start to finish, and Nicki is the reason. Well, Nicki is awful, and Mariah is just an embarrassment. I can't believe she's the highest paid of the judges.

I disagree that The Voice is basically the same. I think it's almost the opposite of AI, in that there isn't any age restriction or anything else. They just have to sing really well. And the ones they invite onto the show really do.

The Voice is the only singing competition I'll watch anymore, because it's actually a singing competition. It isn't all about Nicki.

  9. I started boycotting AI because my friend, who is a GREAT singer, didn't even get past the first group of people (ie the producers or whatever). They told her she had a great voice, but that they had already given out the yellow papers.

At least Xfactor told her that she needed to work on her emotions while she sings.

I don't think she has tried The Voice yet.
Not trying to advertise, but here's a link to her singing.

  10. Ive watched AI sporadically this season and what irritates me the most about it is that damn Mariah. All she does is "dahlig this, dahling that" and she constantly interrupts everyone else on there and slurs half her words. I like Nicki faaaaaaaar better, and.that shocked me. If it wasnt for Sparkles I wouldnt even watch it at all. If he leaves (and I heard a rumor in the entertainment news last week that hes wanting out of his contract.again) the show is ovah.

  11. Um, I wasn't going to watch anyway, have not in YEARS, but once I heard this woman was a judge, no way in HELL would I turn it on.

    Yes Nicki, because of YOU.

  12. I gave up when a contestant's personal story was more important than their talent.

  13. I have a sick obsession with The Voice and I watch each ep at least twice. It's just a feel good show and it always makes me smile.

AI is just old and played out. The format is tiring and the judges are annoying. I watched the first 2 eps this season just to see how Nicki would do (surprisingly she didn't grate my nerves as much as usual) but I probably wont be watching again.

  15. Simon Cowell is responsible for turning the judges into the stars of the show starting in the early seasons of AI. Did it to further his own two-faced talentless hack career all the way to the bank.
So no way was I going to watch The Nikki and Mariah Show. Same reason I don't enjoy The Blake and Adam Show.
Most of these poor kids and contestants are never heard from again, forgotten by producers, judges, and viewers over the years.
I'd rather see them take some of the show money to truly mentor their contestant long term for years. Not just throw the winners against the wall and see what sticks. It's sad. Judges and Producers make tons of money and boost their careers. Any contestant that lacks long term support in the industry will be back where they started without it.

  17. This is the first season I quit watching AI. I waited and waited for MC to wake up and say something constructive. Surely she could tell that many of them sucked cheese, right?

  18. These shows have always seemed like Ed McMahon's Star Search moved from syndication & put in prime time. I don't remember high school talent shows as being that entertaining. Some theater girl would belt out a song from Funny Girl. Some bad rock band would play Smoke on the Water. And some trio of guys with acoustic guitars would play a Pure Prairie League song. And occasionally a few band geeks would want in on the fun & would start a Blood Sweat & Tears or Chicago type band heavy on the horns. Most of the acts were interesting to the participants' parents & boyfriend/girlfriends only.

  19. The ONLY reason to watch AI this season is Candice Glover. She is CRAZY GOOD and do yourself a favor and watch her version of The Cure's Lovesong. Amazing. That is all.

  20. Talent shows are over. Just go away now.

  21. What also doomed AI for me was the audition round. It gets boring watching fame whores who sing badly embarrass themselves. The first few seasons -- when I could accept that some of them didn't really know they were bad -- it was amusing. However, now every bad singers *knows* it and is doing this for their 15 minutes.

  22. I have always watch AI. This year I watched one or 2 episodes. Minaj is awful, she just yaps and yaps. Mariah looks like she absolutely hates her. The Voice is my new show of choice.

OT What is happening in Boston? Explosion? People losing their legs at the end of the Boston Marathon? 2 explosions being reported. Prayers to everyone involved.

  23. Yes, we're going to listen to someone who made her ass bigger ON PURPOSE.

  24. Getting tired of her ego. We know now that Meredith Viera single handedly kept the Today Show on top after Katie Couric left, so deflecting blame doesn't fly. She is part of the problem too. Enty makes a valid point.

  25. @cc423 I agree, Candice Glover is wonderful, so talented! I have all her songs on my ipod. The live versions though, not the studio, because AI consistently turns the studio versions into plastic sounding crap.

I like The Voice better than AI because the audition process on TV is better (AI is cruel and makes fun of people who are obviously damaged in some way); the judges are better (Nicki and Keith are the only ones who say anything worthwhile--Mariah and Randy are usesless); and the contestants on The Voice are just better. AI really shot itself in the foot this year by trying to stack the casting to make sure they had a female winner. Instead of casting the best, they put in a lot of weak male singers and good female singers.

I think viewers are getting tired of AI's extremely obvious audience manipulation.

And I won't even start on the music with AI's "No new songs allowed" policy.

  26. This season I watched the AI auditions and found it unbearable. Urban was extremely annoying with wanting each contestant to fit perfectly neatly into a marketable box. One person did two songs from different genres and he thought it was a bad thing. You're supposed to be discovering new talent, not manufacturing washing machines!

  27. I lost interest this season, and I've watched every one. They didn't learn the last time when they went with 4 judges. No one wants to hear them drone on and on endlessly with commentary- it needs to be like 20 seconds per judge or something. And watching them all hate each other is uncomfortable to watch. None of them talk to each other. It's horrible. The worst chemistry between 4 people I've ever seen. The talent is awful - there are a few girls that are good but the guys were just awful. No wonder why Ryan wants out of his contract!! At least last season, the 3 judges had some banter between them, they're better off with Steven and J Lo !!!

  28. this year, they started eliminating the final 10 before we got to know them. before, its been the top 12 that they start the weekly eliminations with, and the top 11 go on tour. this year, right out of the gate a tour member was gone, and we didn't even know who they were

nicky says weird things; "your legs are giving me everything i need tonight"..."i wanna have your baby"..."i want to eat you". wtf?
