A day after Buckwild star Shain Gandee was found dead in his car of apparent carbon monoxide poisoning along with two other people, MTV has halted production of the show. The car was found stuck in the mud and the exhaust pipe was buried in the mud which would have led to the poisoning. MTV said in a statement that production had been ongoing but that for now it has been halted. With one cast member probably going to jail for a long time and another now dead, this show might be jinxed. I guess it depends on how much of a season they have already shot. If it is almost completed they could finish up the season and have Shain's death be a part of the storyline.
They never knew what hit them, just went to sleep...
ReplyDeleteThere wouldn't be a show without him. I don't see how they could keep partying and all that for more episodes knowing that he's gone. He was to awesome and essential to the chemistry to keep going. RIP.

ReplyDeleteIs it quick? As in, when he realized the car was stuck how long would it take for them to be knocked out and overcome? (Note to all, invest in a detector. It's worth it)
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of surprised that MTV is doing this. It's the right thing to do, which is why I didn't expect them to do it.
It's pretty quick, I believe under an hour in a vehicle. You just fall asleep and boom, that's it.
ReplyDeleteDEFN invest in a detector, esp if you have kids. We have one in the hall closet, nearest to the bedrooms and one in the laundry closet, nearest to the furnace. They're not expensive - in fact, far less expensive than funerals.
Oh, that came out harsh, I'm sorry. I just meant to say that it is a really good idea to get a detector, your life and the lives of your kids are worth it. Poor wording on my part. :/

ReplyDeleteI know that once it knocks you out, you're toast. I was just wondering how long he must have been trying to get the vehicle 'unstuck' before it happened. Like..2 minutes/5/10? Sounds like they were out having a good time right before though, so maybe he wasn't exactly thinking clearly.
I know in California, if you are buying a house it's law that the seller/bank has to install a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the house. Which is awesome.

Why are people talking about investing in a detector in a house when this was in a car. Would not have helped them.
ReplyDeleteUm, because educating people about carbon monoxide poisoning is a good idea that just happens to have a tie to the situation? No s* it wouldn't have helped them, but not many people know the dangers of CO poisoning in their own homes.

ReplyDeleteYou can buy an inexpensive carbon monoxide detector designed for use in small planes and stick it on your car's dashboard. It doesn't even need batteries. After reading this post, I'm gong to get one for my vehicle. Carbon monoxide detector

ReplyDeleteIt depends on the concentration of it, but it can take between two hours to three minutes to cause death. I would imagine if it took over an hour, one of them would realize something wasn't right, and would leave the vehicle. I just googled it, and it looks like one would experience some symptoms of being poisoned, prior to death.

An old coworker experienced Carbon monoxide poisoning at his house. Was experiencing the onset of a headache and laid down to rest for a bit then shortly thereafter found that he couldn't move/speak. Concious but body was not responsive. Luckily wife arrived home-called paramedics when he couldn't respond-thought he had a stroke. Fire dept found toxic levels of cm in house. CM scary stuff.
