Kelly Ripa Doesn't Talk To Regis Philbin
Lets face it. When you quit a job or get fired or graduate from a school, how many people do you keep in touch with from the place you left? Depending on the circumstances, it might be none or it might be a couple. When Regis Philbin left his show behind last year, it looks like he left it the same way many of us leave our situations. According to an interview Kelly Ripa gave this week she says she has not been in contact with Regis once since he left the show. The man who gave her a huge break does not even get a hello or happy holidays or anything. "I have not been in touch with Regis." It is kind of sad when you stop and think about it, but to be fair to Kelly, is it much different than the way we would handle the same situation when we lave a job or a co-worker leaves a job?
Agreed. I recently left a job and I speak to precisely three people from the 100+ I used to work with.
ReplyDeleteThey've been doing commercials for TD Bank since then.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Regis & Kelly weren't really that close. It's not like Regis isn't friendly with his former coworkers (he & Joy are regularly seen having dinner with Kathie Lee & Frank Gifford.) Maybe he and Kelly weren't that close. I know I don't really stay in contact with everyone I've ever worked with over the years, just the ones I became close friends with.
ReplyDeleteGod, I have absolutely no room to talk. I've had people who remember me from other agencies come up to me, remember my name, start chatting away, and I have no clue who they are. My ex-college roommate (the one I like) lives 5 minutes from me, her son is one year older than the twins (who have been living here for a year and a half now,) they've never met.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'll bet Regis knows the number of the studio if he wants to chat.
I talk to... Zero people I went to school with, and zero people I used to work with. After I quit my last job over 8 years ago I talked to a few of the girls and some drug or facility reps would call but after about 6 months that stopped. Heck, I haven't talked to one of my sisters since a few days before Christmas and another sis I haven't talked to in atleast 3 years. I rarely talk to my youngest half sis. Mainly when she wants something.
ReplyDeleteWow no wonder I have so many roll over minutes.
If both of them annoy each other like they annoy me, I can understand why they haven't talked...
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know my mom more than keeps in touch with my "almost aunt"....and that engagement was broken over 40 years ago....
ReplyDeleteI don't stay in touch with my former co-workers. They were work friends and that was it. Once you move on past the job, you and the friends move on as well. Paul Shaffer and David Letterman have been together on the "Late Show" for about 31 years and Paul says they have never spoken outside of work.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the onus on Kelly to contact him? It works both ways, and let's face it, there's a huge age difference, so maybe they have absolutely nothing in common. Not a big deal.
ReplyDeleteI've had really great working relationships with people who I never spoke to again once I left the job. Happens a lot.
ReplyDeleteyeah, agree. its easy to drift when you dont see the person every day.
ReplyDeletehigh school reunion will be awkward....
It's not a big deal, unless you are looking to hate on Kelly Ripa. And for this reason? Wow, that's reaching for some hate, Enty. I wouldn't blame Regis for not staying in touch with her, or even trying to. She's annoying.
ReplyDeleteHuge age gap, she is closer in age to his daughters than him. Frank and Kathie are closer in age (well Frank especially) so it would make sense they are still friends.
ReplyDeleteJust because he tapped her for the show, does not mean she is obligated to be friends with him for life.
I just don't get how Kelly got to keep the show after Regis left. She is SO ANNOYING!
ReplyDeleteI am known among my friends/family as the person who will keep in touch with far flung (and near flung) folk but I am really not in touch with that many of the people I have worked with through the years. With most of them the thing we had in common was the job and once that wasn't a part of the equation then there is no real reason to maintain that relationship. I can't imagine this twosome had much in common other than "Live with" either
ReplyDeleteShe got the job on her own merit, it's not like she had to casting couch for him. Someone else maybe, but not him. Their thing was that they were opposites, she annoyed him, he made jokes at her expense that she didn't understand, back and forth. I can see why they don't talk. She could send a note and flowers for special events though, to show she cared.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if its any different in other countries
ReplyDeleteBig WOOP. Kelly has a great life with her 3 children, commercial endorsements and friendships....
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't look too far into this- as everyone above says, how many people do you really stay in contact with. Regis WALKED AWAY from morning television- leave him alone!
They don't keep in touch and you assume it's because SHE doesn't call HIM?? I'd peg it the other way around....
ReplyDeleteSince I find Regis as annoying as a fly or mosquito buzzing around my head, I wouldn't keep in contact either.
ReplyDeleteYou always mean to keep in touch, and for a while you do, , then relationship dies a natural death. Just the way it is, not a bad or good, just life.
ReplyDeleteKelly no different.
DeleteI'm confused. Is Enty saying this is a big deal, or not? I don't think (s)he knows. In any case, it isn't. Life goes on. Love Kelly BTW!
ReplyDelete@bobbi, you sound like me, I talk to family members on the phone every few weeks, the only person I talk to regularly is my mom and only because she'll just keep calling if I don't. Ex coworkers get an email or text every so often and that's just around four or five people that I really like. I'm just not a big phone calling, keep in touch kind of person.
ReplyDeletetesting
ReplyDelete@Anna - nooooo! It's Friday! No tests on Friday!!!
DeleteThey are in different social circles and age brackets. This is really a non story.
ReplyDeleteIt just means the both don't use Facebook - the place where old coworker-friends, high school buddies, and far flung relatives connect to annoy each other with political statements and game requests.
ReplyDeleteI always found it odd when like fans and interviewers and stuff seem to think that just because people play BFFs or family in movies or TV they must be superclose in real life. Whenever I see something like that mentioned during an interview on Entertainment Tonight or Extra I think about this. Like people expect the people from the Brat Pack to still all hang out. Or the Harry Potter kids to be close. They're just coworkers. And sometimes they've only worked together for a matter of weeks.
ReplyDeleteMust suck having to pretend during the promo period when you secretly hate someone, lol.
No biggie on this one. Like others mentioned few of us stay in touch with coworkers. I usually only have one from each place I worked that I was close enough to want to be friends outside of work anyway. And the age difference has a lot to do with it too. They BOTH get a pass.
ReplyDeleteNo, Mr. Regis is not home.
ReplyDeleteDidn't he fail to tell her he was leaving and she didn't find out until he announced it on air? I'd be mad too.
ReplyDeleteUgh, Kelly Ripa. Coke in the morning. She shouldn't be loved by middle America and probably wouldn't be if they knew the truth. I don't watch that crap, so I don't really care, but damn, is she a fake.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the truth? I'm nosey.
ReplyDeletei always took her for a health nut
ReplyDeleteOnce you leave a job, there is not a lot to talk about. Most of my work "friends" were all people who griped about the job.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Regis is old enough to be Kelly's father or grandfather, so there is not a lot in common.
I can see why they don't keep in touch.
can't wait to see ripa in the household appliance repair spots, butt crack (her good side) and all.
