Jimmy Fallon & Jay Leno Duet
This is the time when Jay Leno likes to have everyone believe he is just a fun guy who would never sabotage the careers of anyone else. Lull Jimmy Fallon into a false sense of security by performing with him.

Meh.
ReplyDeleteI think they both came across as good sports. I also think neither of them are doing anything wrong - it's NBC trying to have their cake and eat it too. Seriously guys, there's a lot more background on this story than you've seen in the past 4-5 years - read "The War for Late Night" by Bill Carter.
ReplyDelete(No, I have nothing to do with either show or Bill Carter - just believe in being fair to everyone.)
Ha! Ita. Someone asked whether I was jays publicist when I voiced a similar opinion. Those two guys are doing what they're legally obligated to do which is play along. I hope Jimmy is successful just so the constant chirping about the Conan situation can go away
DeleteHear, hear, @SusanB!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the least bit of logic in casting Jay (or Conan) as the villain in the last kerfuffle, and I don't see it here.
Why shouldn't the man take back the job he loved when invited? He didn't cause Conan's ratings to tank, and he didn't force NBC to invite him back. He's still winning his time slot, so what the heck?
Now, this time around, NBC thinks replacing him with Fallon will bring in a more desirable demographic. Maybe it will. Maybe not. Who knows?
But it's NBC calling these shots, not Jay Leno and not Jimmy Fallon.
I just miss Johnny :-(
ReplyDeleteEverybody knows that's how you survive in Whoreywood. Jay just gets crucified because he's somewhat conservative. Paltrow did it to Ryder long ago, and enty's still kissing her skinny a$$. Paltrow is box office poison to me, just like Sarandon, Penn, Clooney & Affleck.
ReplyDeleteWhy do talk show changes have to come with so much drama? Networks cancel TV series & put people out of work all the time. Why is it such a tragedy when it happens to Jay Leno?
ReplyDeleteluv jay leno ,hope he gets a new gig soon so i can watch
ReplyDeleteThank you! I thought I was the only one who didn't blame the messenger. I couldn't get anyone to explain why they did either.
ReplyDeleteSo you jumped on the Hate Leno bandwagon with all the "cool" manchidren comedians too? Ooh, good lawd!!
ReplyDeleteJay Leno even sucks the funny from Jimmy Fallon. I adore JF and I'm not sure moving him to The Tonight Show in a year or two is the best move for him. I genuinely don't get the appeal of Jay Leno but if it works I'd rather he stay and Jimmy Fallon stays another 5 years if it means he builds a big enough fan base where if he gets screwed by NBC he has somewhere to go.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if he would have the opportunity that Conan would, and even he ended up on TBS.
How is Jay leading Jimmy into a false sense of security? Jay Leno isn't the one with any say. If anything, Jimmy is leading Jay into a false sense of security...cause if Jay is definitely fired, Jimmy will jump at a chance to take over.
ReplyDeleteYou can see it in Jay's squint, what Enty's saying. I like Jimmy, and Jay sucks. He really really does, so not funny. Never been. EVER.
