Eden Wood's Mom Accused Of Child Abuse

I think you could throw a dart at a group of moms who enter their daughters in a Toddlers & Tiaras type pageant and you would find someone who probably abuses their child. Even in the very edited episodes with carefully selected moms, it seems like they are always on the edge of going ballistic with their kids. In a new book written by Eden Wood's former manager, and excerpted in the new issue of Star, the manager claims that Eden's mom forced Eden to drink Red Bull and espressos all day beginning at the age of 6 to keep her energy up and that her teeth were all falling out because of the constant amounts of sugar Eden was eating. Despite the horrible condition of her teeth, Eden's mom refused to take Eden to the dentist. The six year old Eden was also forced to practice for up to 8 hours a day and when she would make a mistake would call her a loser, just like her father and make her practice some more. This does not surprise me at all. I think many of these women are just trying to make their own lives better through those of their kids and also having their kids fulfill dreams they were unable to fulfill themselves.

  2. Question: Don't 6 year-olds' teeth fall out because they're 6?

Looking at that picture, I just had a flash to 20 years from now, Eden Wood sitting on a bed high with her face painted like a clown and posting videos to YouTube.

    1. Amber, I think the adult teeth come in later around 8-10 years old.

    2. My son is six and he still has all his baby teeth, my nephew started losing his after he turned 7. I actually just read an article about dentist seeing kids as young as three losing their teeth because of poor diet and poor hygiene so I can believe her teeth are falling out.

    3. They can start losing them at 5. My kindergartners always want to show me their lack of teeth!

  5. Sad - it seems like the pageants are more for the moms who live vicariously through the beauty of their child. I see no point to them and anyone who would treat their child this way doesn't seem to deserve to have one.

  6. lost my first tooth when i was like 7. but i still went to the doctor and dentist regularly.

she might need to lighten up as far as the hours of practice goes, but i don't think this is true "abuse" (aside from withholding dental care)

  7. 6 years old isn't an unrealistic age to start losing teeth. I have 4 kids and they started losing their teeth around 7 or 8 years old (but I'm obsessive about them brushing/flossing and seeing the dentist.)

  8. Who?

These people are not celebrities. Please stop covering them.

  9. My niece is 6 & lost 2 already so not a big deal. Baby pageants are sick.

  10. My nephew is 7 and lost his two front teeth right before Christmas. He lost his bottom teeth a year before that.

  11. Calling your child "a loser" IS abuse, folks. I think some may have missed that. Verbal abuse = ABUSE.

  12. Both my kids lost their teeth starting around 6, the dentist, I think that is pretty common.

These pageant moms are insane though. Living their lives and dreams through their kids. I don't get why the pageants think the little girls are beautiful. They all look better with their own hair, non spray tanned skin and a pair of jeans and a t shirt. They look ridiculous all dolled up.

  13. I think you guys are missing the point. She is losing her teeth because they are ROTTEN. Not because she is 6 and she's naturally losing her baby teeth. At least that's what I get.

    2. @auntliddy, these girls wear a set of fake teeth called a flipper to the beauty paegents so her real teeth don't matter

  14. I'm always confused by the grown-ass man involved with these pageants as the announcer describing their dresses and talking about what's going on. I don't even think the dude is a pedophile - I think his dad just never let him play with Barbies when he was a kid.

  15. Making a child drink Red Bull and calling her a loser is abuse.

  16. little girl looks creepy with all that get up.

  17. This is abuse, she's verbally abusing her and why would you have a six year old practice for eight hours? That's extreme.

  18. From the time I was about 4, my folks let me drink Coke for dinner every night and eat candy bars after school every day. I had my first cavity when I was 17, and 30-odd years later, I've still only had a grand total of 4 cavities in my life. They also let me drink 1/2 cup of black coffee from the thermos when we went on car trips because I felt very grown up doing that. I grew up with awesome parents who loved me with all their hearts.

    1. I drank coke as a young child and still do. I still have all my teeth. Even a baby tooth that never fell out and didn't have a permanent tooth behind it.

  19. I know of a woman who had nice teeth her whole life but never brushed them. Never flossed, never went to the dentist. She drank only the most sugary and carbonated drinks and it still took 25 years for her teeth to fall out.

    1. rejected - her teeth fell out after 25 years? And this is supposed to be normal?? Really??? Who is telling you this? So not normal.

      Delete
    2. Yes they did. It's a relative of mine so since I physically saw the condition of her teeth for my entire life , I'm not making this up. I have her senior photo and her teeth were intact and now most of them have fallen out. She does no drugs that would cause rapid tooth loss. I never said it was normal. It's just an example.

  20. IDK here's a pic of her w/o her flippers in @ 6 years old and her teeth look fine. She has a cute little gap.

  21. Here's a pic of her posted on 4/22 - I think she's 8 now. Her permanent teeth are growing in, and crooked, but they're not all Lohan meth mouth looking.

  22. My daughter lost her first tooth at 4 (which is when I did too) and was the star of preschool that day. She has beautifully healthy teeth as a tween, just got her braces off (which she also got earlier than most kids since she had all of her adult teeth) and has zero cavities. Just like kids grow at different rates, some kids lose their teeth early and some late...it's genetics.

  23. Having said that, if you've ever watched Eden's show, her mother is a whackadoodle who is obviously in it for the vicarious fame.

  24. So he saw such behavior and incidents toward the child and did....

    nothing?

Until a magazine needed an interview.
    Interesting.

  25. @Lola - I had my braces super early, too! I got them in 5th grade. It was awesome, because I got mine off as everyone else was getting theirs. :)

  26. The flipper thing is odd to me. What's cuter than that missing tooth smile every kid gets in first grade!? The beauty of children is not celebrated in these pagents, it's the drag queening that's being celebrated. Little girls like playing dress up, but the false teeth and lashes together with the adult makeup and costumes are kind of horror show-ish. And seeing the child's chubby little hand on her momma's shoulder, contrasted with her painted face, makes me sad. Poor little thing. She's too little for all this nonsense.

  27. My youngest sister had to have all her baby teeth pulled out by the dentist when she was not quite 4 because they were so rotten they were starting to rot her permanent teeth before they came in (because her idiot father and mother gave her all the candy she wanted and never made her brush her teeth.) OTOH, my step-father didn't have a cavity until he was around 40, he grew-up in a town that had fluoride in the water. Jerk. *pout* There are a lot of factors, besides diet that go into how strong your teeth are, so unless it's extreme (like Cora's case) I don't know how much of that I'd blame on the parents.

The name calling, hours of practice and Red Bull, though? Straight up abuse and if TLC has that on tape, they should be turning it over to the Police, not editing it for TV.

  28. the mother is just prostituting her child. its gross.

  29. Each kid is different when it comes to losing teeth and general oral health. At her age it is normal to be shedding some of her incisors, however if she is losing molars then that is a problem and is not normal.

Yes, some people never brush and floss and have bad diets and never have problems but there are also people who smoke a pack a day and never get lung cancer. Oral health is important. My PSA for the day haha.

  30. I just don't understand the child pageant thing. Let kids be kids! Plus it is so weird to see grown men judging little kids in swimsuits while the contestants are making sexually suggestive poses and gestures. How many pedophiles flock to those things? Disgusting.

  31. I think the post makes it pretty clear that the condition of her teeth (which does matter, flipper or not) was a result of sugar (and probably poor nutrition all around). Yes, our genetics mean some have crap luck when they do everything right, and some can have appalling dental habits and never have a cavity. I don't think that's the point here…

Child pageants--let's be real, GIRL pageants, because are there beauty pageants for boys?--turn me off in a big way. The whole thing just seems really unhealthy.

  32. Love how most the pagent moms are obese and ugly or anorexic and ugly. And don't get me started on some of the haircuts these women have. You'd think being around make-up artists and hair-stylists so much they would oick up a few skills for themselves.

I'm shocked! Grown women who dress their daughters up and pose them like prostitute dolls aren't Mothers of the year? shocked I tell you!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Looking at her smiling is not really giving us any kind of realistic idea of the condition of her teeth. The molars are usually the first teeth where you get cavities from over consumption of sugar unless the kid is falling asleep w a bottle of sugary drink (eg juice) in their mouth.

  35. I'm okay with pageants for little girls provided they a) WANT to do them, b) look like little girls and c) aren't fulfilling the dreams of their uglay mamas. Posing as the main character from "Pretty Woman" is disgusting and completely inappropriate. Let these girls be children.

And 8 hrs of practice and verbal abuse is abuse.

  36. octo mom, teen moms (the jennelle drug post right above this), lohan, kris jener, all the negligence i see IRL daily (take a look at parental involvement in public schools).... different level than making the kid practice something.

echo the comment about the moms living through their kids. hit the nail on the head.

  37. Actually there are beauty contests for boys. They are usually called Little Mr. contests.

What I seem to find extremely interesting here is this person is now saying all of this but did nothing about it when it was going on. Why didn't they do something when it was happening? Why not call protective services? Why let someone know? Instead they write a book and get a big check and make money off of what they are trying to claim they saw.

Many of these kids do practice for several hours but that is usually in things like dance, gymnastics, voice and other classes and it is broken up during the week. They also have school. Time to go out and hang with their friends, go to movies, when little play in the mud, ride bikes or whatever.
I have seen this as I have watched 3 separate girls go from being in pageants. Starting the county fair level as babies and then the parents entering them in different ones as they grew older. Now they are still competing and some have competed in the state levels. One has went on to compete in the Miss USA. The poise, confidence and pride these young ladies exhibit is something.
For very nightmare pageant mom there is at least 2-3 loving, nurturing ones.

  38. Micky Wood is bat-shit crazy and I've always felt sorry for Eden--she is a sweet little girl who has never known anything but being her mother's puppet. She is not really very talented--she kind of struts around but really can't sing or dance--and in a toddler it's cute, but as she gets older the novelty is gone and once she isn't a draw for the attention Micky feeds on I feel sorry for her. You never see the dad--he lets Micky do whatever she wants.

  39. CDCN, Thank you for talking about my new book, "Unleashing a Momster" and for everyone who has responded, I appreciate your feedback as well. What a lot of you are missing from "Star Magazine"s coverage is that Eden's teeth were ROTTING out of her head from the endless indulgences of junk food, sugary drinks and Starbuck's Tall Hazelnut Lattes with 6 Sugars (Eden's drink). You could actually see the cavities in her teeth when she talked or sang. Her front tooth was also blackened from decay.
Please note though, FAR MORE IMPORTANT is that Eden DID NOT ATTEND SCHOOL. This was the WORST abuse, as by age 8, the little girl still could not read - at ANY grade level. In theory her "teacher/mother" was to be homeschooling her. In reality, their days were filled with practice and playing the fame game. And before you lay a bunch of crap at my feet and give me the "Why didn't you say anything" accusation, I assure you, I DID. Almost daily I complained to Mickie about her lack of attention to Eden's education. Unfortunately, she didn't heed my words and the state of Arkansas doesn't seem to care that their Home-School Children are falling through the cracks. I encourage you to check out www.UnleashingAMomster.com for the complete story. Best in all, Heather Ryan

  40. Oh, and "Car54", in response to your question, I'm not sure you WANT to know the truth about Mr. Wade Wood. That chapter is called, "The Terrible Awful" and I believe it is the most sinister of all 72 chapters in my 240 page book. I mean, it's really, really, really bad. Almost one of those, "You can't handle the truth" kind of situations. I imagine that will be the next scuttlebutt in the press should the media continue to talk about the book. Again, please feel free to check it out on the website or on Amazon for Kindle. Best in All, Heather Ryan
