Blind Item #6
This show was on the air a good five seasons. Middling hit. Comedy. Network. The actress who played the co-lead and love interest made about $2M during the run of the show. A couple of years later? Gone. Living in a studio downtown now that is paid for by her parents. She had a bit of a drug issue.
I feel like this should be easy but I can't think of anyone
ReplyDeleteJenna Elfman
ReplyDeleteI just saw Jenna on Damages though. It was only one season but that's pretty bad if it is her.
DeleteJenna is married to Bodhi Elfman (Touch), and is a Scientologist. They have at least 15-20 mil. They bought Madonna's house, 8-10 yrs ago.
DeleteLisa Nicole Carson from Ally McBeal?
ReplyDelete@FSP...That's what I was thinking.
ReplyDeleteLisa's not a bad guess - she's had some serious mental health issues and possibly a drug problem. I loved her on AMcB, but I think it was the issues that got her removed from the show.
ReplyDeleteSounds like one of those King of Queens type shows (but not that one specifically) where the guy is the star and the girl is the co-lead/love interest. Basically, she's just as important, but he gets top billing.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Jenna Elfman on that show with Bill Pullman about the president? It's doing okay, I think - enough that she can afford to pay her own rent.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Bynes, What I Like About You.
ReplyDeleteMy Wife and Kids and Grounded for life were both on for 5 seasons. Also both center around male leads with wives.
ReplyDeleteAMcB isn't a middling it. It was a full on megahit when it was on
Jenna Elfman has been married since 1995 and is on a show right now; doesn't sound like her.
ReplyDeleteLisa Nicole Carson wasn't Calista Flockhart's love interest (as far as I know!).
Amanda Bynes, What I Like About You.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Bynes, What I Like About You.
ReplyDeleteWhat I Like About You only ran for 4 seasons, and ended 7 years ago.
ReplyDeleteSounds like someone in the mid-to-late 20's becuz the parents are paying for the place. So the girl was on a show with teenage kids roles probably but I got zilch for a name. Def not Amanda.
ReplyDeleteWhat I Like About You was on the WB so not a "network" comedy
ReplyDeleteJenna Elfman is a Scientologist. I doubt it is her.
ReplyDeleteIs Jenna a Scientoglist? Lisa M. had some type of mental breakdown. With that said, I have nothing...
ReplyDeleteAmanda has a fashion line or something doesn't she? She made millions from films too. I don't think this is her. She's living in New York. She has to have major bills in the bank to afford that city.
ReplyDeleteSomething to note: it says that all her money was gone two years later. It doesn't say how long her parents have been paying for her studio apartment.
ReplyDeleteWe may need to look farther back than seven years ago.
Also (and this is a longshot), the show was on the air a "good" five seasons--I wonder if it was on the air for a "bad" few seasons, too.
Oooooh...Suzanne Cryer from Two Guys, a Girl and A Pizza Place?
ReplyDeleteJason, Nah. Just looked her up on IMDB. She seems to have steady work.
ReplyDeleteNot Jenna. She is a scientologist. Funny thing...after she became known with "Darma," I remember watching an old video tape of something. It was probably from the early 90's. On came one of those creepy commercials for scientology/dianetics that you rarely see (thank the stars). It starred Jenna Elfman. She wasn't in the commercial as Jenna Elfman, but rather just a young gal struggling with life's issues. It was probably one of her first gigs. I think I still have the tape somewhere. I should throw it on Youtube.
ReplyDelete@Jason, I like your guess. Two Guys and a Girl was only on four seasons, but the rest seems to fit. Even though she has guest-starred on things throughout the years, she's never had another big role.
ReplyDeleteShe was on Monk.
DeleteWhat about Jaime Pressley? I think she was on a show, right? I only really know her from the blinds.
ReplyDeleteChuck fits the timeline, but Yvonne Strahovski was on Dexter after...

ReplyDeleteA year earlier, Brothers & Sisters and Friday Night Lights both also finished after five seasons. They're dramas though.
ReplyDeleteNot Jamie lee pressley- she works and has not dropped out. We should be able to law and order this out.
ReplyDeletewhat about the lady on according to jim?
ReplyDeleteamanda has lots of money...for now...plus she lives in manhattan...not downtown L.A.
ReplyDeletealso she is on Two and a Half Men.
ReplyDeleteRandom but.. Liza Snyder of Yes, Dear?
ReplyDeleteHasn't done much, show was on from 2000-2006. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0811513/
Laura Prepon
ReplyDeleteNo idea. I'd guess Joely Fisher of Til Death but I think she has a family.
ReplyDeleteNot many sitcoms last for five seasons.
Joely has family money Hegg :)
ReplyDeleteJoely has family money Hegg :)
ReplyDeleteJenna Elfman is married to Bhodi Elfman who is the nephew of Danny Elfman who has written/composed/shat out songs for basically every movie that's come out for the past 25 yrs. That whole family is all up in the movie biz. I've no idea who else this could be though but I used to have a couple of songs by Danny's band, Oingo Boingo because I'm old and shit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe...one of the Cosby children, or the A Different World ones.
Plus Danny married Bridget Fonda, and the Fondas have money way back...
Delete..since he was Only A Lad
Couldn't resist. Signed, another old Boingo fan.
The red head from that 70s show? Laura Pepron or something?
ReplyDeleteYeah I like the Laura Prepon guess. The last I heard if her was when everyone here in Canada was freaking out because she was playing Karla Homolka. Not even in cameos.
ReplyDelete@ steph
ReplyDeletei think thats the point, her family money is supporting her!!
Laura Prepon has kept busy. She was the lead in that Chelsea Handler sitcom last year and is set to star in a new series for Netflix.
ReplyDeleteOther than that, I got nothin'.
Laura had one season on a show called Oxtober Road... (I liked the show!) if it's her Enty could have made all kinds of references to AK and MK....
ReplyDeleteLaura had one season on a show called Oxtober Road... (I liked the show!) if it's her Enty could have made all kinds of references to AK and MK....
ReplyDeleteEnty has also revealed Laura Prepon in kindness blind items. I think if she had a drug problem, he'd have told us earlier.
ReplyDeleteEnty's numbers are off. If you were the co-lead in a network sitcom for five years you would have done at least 100 episodes (standard network season is 23) which would put your show in syndication where the real money is. If you did 100 episodes and only made $2M you were only getting paid $20k an episode, which is low for a lead in a series that got renewed 4 times.
ReplyDelete@Bitchy - the ladies on According to Jim were Courtney Thorne-Smith and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Courtney has been around forever and Kim is married to Brad Paisley who is one of the hottest country acts out there. Plus the show ran for 7 seasons.
Vivian Vance. You'd take drugs, too, if you had to make out with William Frawley before TV cameras every day.
ReplyDeleteUmm all of them?
ReplyDeleteWell nothing listed here fits:
ReplyDeleteHttp://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:2000s_American_comedy_television_series
The girl from scrubs
ReplyDeleteLeah Remini
ReplyDelete@Lucas - perhaps you would know this answer, but wouldn't an actress who was considered a "nobody" before the show started be paid less than a known star? Maybe this actress started her fame with this show, meaning she was paid much less in the beginning and her salary was increased as the show's success continued. $2 mil does seem like a low number for a moderately successful actress on a moderately successful network show, though!
