Blind Item #2

This married with children A list female director not named Jodie Foster has a thing for young blonde women. Look for the semi-famous actress at the time who has a few lines in her movies. The blonde changes, but where they spend their nights never does. Our director's hotel which is why she rarely films movies in LA.

  2. Kathryn Bigelow?

Not sure if she's currently married, but her name was the first to pop into my head.

I like the Sofia Coppola guess, esp since she's cast ScarJo and Kirsten Dunst in her films.

  5. Sounds like a reveal about Jodie Foster being the director who likes Disney tweeners.

  7. Sofia Coppolla and Elle Fanning looking PRETTY cozy in pics together.

Which, I think, fits the previous part of this blind that says the ~director~ had a thing for ex-DC actresses.

    1. That's very interesting, because it plays into the whole "Dakota is gay," thing. Hmmm.

  8. I would guess Coppola or perhaps Jane Campion, although I don't think either woman is based in LA.

  9. Happy Birthday to Lotta and Kloie!!

  10. Sofia Coppola, Bigelow is not currently married.

  11. Huh. I never would've thought that about her, but she totally fits.

  12. Dang, now I'm picturing Sophia Coppola gettin' busy with her "Bling Ring" star, Emma Watson.

To quote Jayne Cobb, I'll be in my bunk.

  13. @Jonathan, LOVE Jayne Cobb.

  14. Oh my! I wonder if she & Kiki had fun on the set of Marie Antoinette!

I loved that movie, no apologies.

    2. Izzie: if we're to believe that blind about Kiki and the bartender, then she could pretty much be up for anything couldn't she?

  15. @Izzie--I LOVE MARIE ANTOINETTE. Don't be ashamed! Definitely one of my favs. I can watch it over and over again. I love the historical setting but with a modern soundtrack. And they had unprecedented access to film at Versailles which I thought was really cool to watch.

  16. Hot!

Plus I love that it ain't just men preying on fame whores. At least this one doesn't have a fetish for breaking in tweens like yesterday's director.

Sofia Coppola sounds fine to me. Lost In Translation and her knew one have/had young sexy girls in them. Plus she's got that look in her eyes that seems like she is one tough lady. Not that that means she's not straight, it just seems to be a common thread with lesbians, like they're not trying to attract men. Which Hollywood women are constantly broadcasting that they're trying to do.

    Happy Birthday Lotta! You rock!

  20. In what world is Sofia Coppola a A-list director?

    ReplyDelete
  21. She's A-list in name recognition. There are very few female directors that anyone can name.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Angela, in a world where you're a Coppola. This world.

    ReplyDelete
  23. the 2 last Sofia Copola movies are filmed in LA : Somewhere and The Bling Ring .Elle Fanning was 11 when she worked with Sofia

Now she lives with her husband Thomas Mars (french band Phoenix's lead)and their 2 kids in NY and in Paris during the holidays(i lived in the same street in Paris during a summer some years ago)

so this BI is a made-up blind item

Happy Birthday LadyColada! And, based solely on having watched The Piano the other night, I second Campion....

  26. Happy birthday, Lotta! If your name does in fact indicate a fondness for a certain tropical drink, I hope you get to indulge in many of them this weekend! :-)

  27. Yeah, Sofia's with Thomas Mars who fronts Phoenix. He's full of win - she's also been married to Spike Jonze, who is hoooooooot. To me.

  28. barbra streisand? she is alist recognition wise. but is she directing currently?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yeah, I get it...
But Sofia Coppola is mostly a director of what would be called art or specialty films in a box office way. Sure, she got a few awards, but A list means that you can get a movie greenlit and the actors you want when your name gets attached to it. As MM says, she's just A-list in name recognition.

Besides, there are a few other things that would make little sense if it's actually her in the blind item.

She rarely films movies in L.A.?
imdb mentions that part of The Virgin Suicides was shot in Los Angeles (even if most of it was in Toronto). Lost in Translation was Tokyo. Marie Antoinette was Versailles and Pinewood. Every time, there was a real reason for not filming in L.A....
But Somewhere was mostly L.A., especially Chateau Marmont, and The Bling Ring is 100% Beverly Hills...

The hotel she owns and where she brings her blondes are apparently the reason for which she films outside of Los Angeles. Which doesn't match with Coppola.

Other established female directors would be: Kathryn Bigelow, Agnieszka Holland, Sarah Polley, Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine), Penny Marshall (who's divorced), Jane Campion, Patty Jenkins (Monster), Betty Thomas, Mimi Leder, Catherine Hardwicke, Nancy Meyers.

There's almost zero information on Hardwicke's private life, but she directed the first Twilight and the version of Little Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried.

@whodathunkit Does that make Roman Coppola A-list? ;-)

  30. I thought Sofia Coppola and Scarjo...but Scarjo was the lead.

  33. Well do any of them have small speaking parts with blondes? That's the best place to look - movies with waitresses, secretaries, girls at the bar. It's not Kiki or Scarlett or anyone like that - it's someone who has a small part and that you probably recognize. Someone like ALice Eve or Brooklyn Decker.

  34. Happy birthday, awesome ladies.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ Angela - I don't think Enty means she owns a hotel, I think he means the hotel(s) she stays at while filming.

    Sofia is a great guess.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is Zoe Cassavetes. And the Mercer Hotel!

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Fairmaiden, @Armadillo cake, @AKM, @JasonBlueEyes- THANK YOU!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is made up. First Enty had a blind that was generally agreed upon to be saying that Sofia Coppola was having an affair with Brad Dourif during the filming of Somewhere. Now she's a lesbian. Of course she could be bi, but it's unlikely. I think it's very possible she's a lesbian (her camera made love to Scarlett in Lost in Translation) but there is no actress that fits this blind.

  39. This is Amanda whats her name from "married with children".
    She is A list director.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Bearse took up the challenge of television and film directing while appearing on Married... with Children. Between 1991 and 1997, she helmed over 30 episodes of the show. She also directed episodes of Reba, Mad TV, Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher, Malcolm & Eddie, Pauly, The Tom Show, The Jamie Foxx Show, Dharma & Greg, Veronica's Closet, Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, Jesse (starring her former Married... with Children co-star Christina Applegate), and Ladies Man. In 2005, she directed The Sperm Donor, a pilot for NBC starring Maggie Wheeler and In 2006, Bearse teamed with Rosie O'Donnell to direct The Big Gay Sketch Show, which debuted on Logo on April 24, 2007.

  41. I would have thought if this were Sophia Coppola there would have been something about her very famous surname or lineage.

Other than that I got nuthin. Katherine Bigelow came to my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not a lot of Alist directors so I'm inclined to say Coppola as well.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've never heard a thing about Sofia being bi or gay - but, all of the clues point directly to her: award-winning A-List director, younger blondes cast in her films, two kids, and the hotel reference seals the deal, as her dad's in the hotel biz, owning Palazzo Margherita in Italy, as well as properties in South America.
