Carrie Fisher Is Going To Be Princess Leia Again
In an interview with Palm Beach Illustrated, Carrie Fisher has confirmed she will be reprising her role as Princess Leia in the upcoming Star wars movie. She says that her character will be living in a senior home and that she will be just as spunky as ever but not necessarily always willing to go out and fight. I get the feeling this Star wars movie is going to be a way for Disney to try and squeeze every last dollar out of the franchise they bought and try to get every possible segment of the audience to come spend $20 a ticket on 3D.
As much as Disney paid for the rights, you bet your sweet bacon loving @$$ they will, lol
ReplyDeleteI hope she gets to wear the gold bikini again. Mmmm…sexy granny.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere Mark Hamill is waiting anxiously by his phone.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I used to dress up like Princess Leia for Halloween when I was a kid. I also pretended that Luke Skywalker was my boyfriend. Obviously I didn't get the concept of incest at the time.
ReplyDelete@gmg - got a little Lannister in you, eh?
DeleteUm. Doesn't anyone ever actually read the articles. She didn't say that is where or what her character will be doing. She was asked, "What do YOU THINK Princess Leia is like today?" Ans she answered (obviously joking): "Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]."
ReplyDeleteHmmm I wonder if they can afford Harrison Ford at this point?
ReplyDeleteThey already have confirmed Harrison Ford for the next Star Wars movie
DeleteI love Carrie and this might be her bipolar talking or wi$hful thinking. But until Disney confirms casting I wouldn't believe anything that the old cast says trying to crowbar their way into it. I can only see Disney wanting Harrison Ford for marquee value.
ReplyDeleteIf this is true can carrie fisher still act? shes been a mess lately high on stuff. Did anyone see her on the roxanne roast she was outhere.
ReplyDeleteI wish whoever took that photo of her would take a photo of me!!
ReplyDeleteOk, the Rat's profit motive aside for a moment, however who else are you going to get to play Leia?
ReplyDeleteReally??
And you know Mark Hamill is drooling waiting for his offer.
Mark Hamill is in the next movie. That's already been confirmed. Waiting on Han Solo!
ReplyDeleteMark has not been confirmed. Mark confirmed that he'd been approached. Many headline read "Mark Hamill (Or Harrison Ford) Confirmed for Star Wars VII!" But if you actually read the article that is not what was said.
ReplyDeleteI don't need to see Carrie Fisher in 3D.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Auntliddy and Sugar on this one. No way does she really look this good. nope.
ReplyDelete@Merlin you're assuming the characters will be in the movie. They might not be. I think they are just looking to revive past glory and if you say something enough it doesn't make it true.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind them in a cameo role but I think they are looking for bigger parts. There isn't even a script yet.
Poor Mark, he never went much further than Star Wars and all the rest have.
ReplyDeleteI think by choice. He does all stage acting
DeleteWhat did she do to her face? Her nose get done? Something looks very different about her. And a Google search mentions something about a Star Wars Holiday special? Really? Never knew this:
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star_Wars_Holiday_Special
Sherry - the Star Wars Holiday special is the stuff of legends. I remember watching it and thought it was awesome. It is only when I got older that I realized how cheesy it was. I believe Carrie Fisher has said she was high through the whole thing, which is actually how you should probably watch it. George Lucas bought all the rights so it will never see the light of day again. Classic!
ReplyDeleteI doubt she will be in it. Could they actually get insurance on her? She's a bit cray cray.
ReplyDeleteI still want a pet wookie
ReplyDeleteEveryone's assuming Mark Hammill isn't working, he's hoping-hoping-hoping to get back on the Star Wars franchise train. Mark has been doing a lot of work, most specifically voice work for cartoons and video games (he voiced Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum. And yes, I'm a geek). I'm sure he'd be happy to do it, but he's not exactly rotting in the has-been neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI love Carrie and hope she's got her bi-polar under control. She's a brilliant writer and terrific actress.
I love him in Adventure Time
DeleteGlad there's other cartoon and gaming geeks out there. I was just going to say that MH does a shit-pot ton of voice work.
DeleteI hope this new movie will be awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks Life..I would love to see it now but unless someone has an old copy that won't happen.
ReplyDelete@Timebob
ReplyDeleteI'm speaking as an Uber-Geek - even if all they do are cameos that have been digitized to hell and back, they're (Harrison, Mark and Carrie) going to be in this movie at the very least.
There. I the Great and Powerful Merlin have spoken.
(Make note, Disney)
@Izzie Marceaux
ReplyDeleteMark Hamill also voiced Fire Lord Ozai in the Avatar series. I keep hoping he'll to a cameo in the new Korra series, like Zuko's voice actor did.
I, for one, will be tickled if all three come back.
If they bring Leia back, they need a kick-ass Leia. That was the best part about MY connection with the character, from the start. That Leia was tough & confident, as well as pretty.
ReplyDeleteI always hoped they'd make a movie about Leia's youth, and her exploits as a rebel spy--like her teen years. I'm sure there's novels covering that time, but I always wanted that movie made.
I just went to IMBD and saw Mark HAS been keeping busy! I usually think voice actors are wannanees screen actors, but maybe not for him? It's nice work, you don't have to bother with make up and dress, probably daytime hours, good for a working actor.
ReplyDeleteI think all 3 must be in it, but just for cameos.
@msgirl, a lot of people think that, but voice work pays really well. Andy Serkis - the guy who voiced & CGI-acted Gollum in the LotR movies - is a fantastic voicer. He did the voice of my all-time favorite video game character - Monkey in Enslaved. (Told ya I'm a geek.) The other main voice actor in the Enslaved game is Lindsey Shaw, who plays Paige on Pretty Little Liars. Voice work is for working actors like overseas ad work is for big star actors - good bank using your talent.
ReplyDeletemsgirl---Mark also has aged weirdly, and not well, probably from those car crash injuries to his face.
ReplyDeleteI. LOVE. HER.
ReplyDeleteIf I could pick one female celeb to have a girls' day out with, it would be Carrie. I'd refrain from my standard adult beverages out of respect for her, of course, but we'd still go shopping and get mani-pedis and have lunch and talk about boys. I just adore her.
My husband would run off with Carrie in a hot second. She's been his crush since he was 6 years old. Doesn't matter that she's older, or gained a few lbs, he looks at her with his geek-goggles on, and it's Princess Leis in that gold bikini all over again.
ReplyDelete@Merlin from your lips to Death Star's ears!
ReplyDeleteJJ Abrams has proved he can weave original characters into a reboot franchise. However they are used or not used it will be done well.
I just thought it was funny they are all saying they are going to be in it when there isn't a script, JJ isn't exactly a spoilery friendly guy to let anything out of the bag.
this one makes me smile...
ReplyDeleteLet no person say bad things about Mark Hamill!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL you can if you want to... but like said above, he's very busy, doing all manner of things, lots of voice-over work. Pretty much any cartoon made in the past twenty years, you're probably hearing his voice.
Voice-acting in a lot of ways is harder than regular. You have to speak in entirely different patterns, change the sound of your voice. Look at Shrek, Toy Story, any of those big movies: "Oh, it's Eddie Murphy, looking like a donkey, sounding like Eddie Murphy." I'll bet a lot of the big actors couldn't do what Mark Hamill does!
One more thing (because I can't shut up about Mark Hamill - he's my hero!!)
ReplyDeleteHe's actually a big, dorky geek. He wears a Homer Simpson watch, collects all manner of cartoon and superhero stuff, and even sent in a photo of himself to the Svengoolie show, while wearing his Sven t-shirt. So for him to do voice-acting, he's right where he wants to be!
KA-ching
ReplyDeleteMark Hamill is one of the highest paid voice actors out there.
ReplyDeleteBecause I live with an EXTREME Star Wars geek...
The rumor is that the next series will focus on Han and Leia's kids (Jaina, Jacen and Anakin) and Luke's kid (Ben) so they won't recast and the 3 of them would be expected to have aged. Most of the kids' stories are considered cannon and are acknowledged as such by Lucas.
Harrison Ford was the first to be confirmed (he is really close to Lucas) as, supposedly, are Anthony Daniels (C3PO) and Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca). Leaving Mark Hamill as the lone unconfirmed (but he's supposedly in talks). Kenny Baker (R2D2) is also unconfirmed but will likely be replaced since he's +/- 80 years old.
This (and more) is courtesy of Lola Jr.. She would like to impart more info (and is trying to...blah, blah, blah) but I've reached my SW geek limit for the day. O_o
@ Lola - OMG, Frufra Jr. was just filling me in on all this earlier tonight. He's pissed about the notion of the kids' storylines being considered cannon. We should get our kids together - geek love connection???

DeleteAs an aside, Mark Hamill looks better than he has in years. He starred in a movie a couple of years ago and looks like he's had some reconstructive surgery. IIR his nose was rebuilt from one of his ears after his accident.

ReplyDelete@Sherry & @lifeiscrazy...

(It will never disappear, as much as Lucas would (very much) like it to be so.)
That's a link to the Holiday Special, in all its glory, BTW.
ReplyDeleteShe jokes. She JOKES.
