Ben Affleck Protects His Kids From The Paps

It sounds like it was a pretty intense and scary situation between Ben Affleck and the paps on Friday when he was picking up his daughter Seraphina from school. It got so bad that Ben stuck out his foot at the paps to tell them how far away they needed to be. Reports are also surfacing that the paps were yelling at his daughter who is only 4 and she got so scared that she started crying. Why would you need to yell at the daughter to get a photo? I think a three foot distance is being really nice and that is what Ben was suggesting. Why do you need to get closer? Do you need to see if Ben has something in his teeth? Are Ben Affleck photos that exciting? Sure, if you catch him at a strip club getting a lap dance, you want to get close so you are not mistaken. Sure, if you catch him making out with someone other than his wife or using his trailer for said assignations, then yes, it is helpful to be close. But, when he is picking up a four year old from school? Back off. It is not like the photos are going to make you a ton anyway.

  1. Disgraceful. There need to be some laws.

  2. I would not hesitate beat the ever-loving crap out of someone who made my 4yo daughter cry. I'm the judge would drop the assault charge when he saw the pictures of her sobbing.

    Jerks.

  3. I saw the paps go after Jessica Alba in New York, they were right in her face....it's out of line.
    And children are off limits...

  4. If you've ever watched paps going at it with a celebrity, it'll make your blood curdle. The things they say to get a reaction are disgusting.

  5. they are just trying to provoke him so they get some good snaps of him going ape shit

  6. Say what you will about the Garner/Affleck marriage, they do seem really devoted to and protective of their children. I admire that about them.

  7. Clearly boundaries were crossed, but it's not exactly
Like they didn't just court 'happy family photo-ops' with the papa for the last 6 months in support of his Oscar campaign. It's just now that he doesn't want the attention that it's an issue.

And that's why laws are pointless: most celebrities have relationships with photographers/photo agencies and use 'candid' shots to their advantage. For the most part it's not hard to avoid being photographed by paparazzi all the time.

  8. I live in the community where that incident occurred. I always find it interesting that the celebrities leaving that establishment use the main exit, where the paps are hovering. There are 4 other, usually clear, exits.

  9. I think one of the most beneficial reasons for having a bodyguard if you're famous is to keep the paps from getting too close. Maybe should consider it for the kids sake if nothing else.

couldn't agree more, thanks for the reveals Enty! You're the best.

  11. And now you can understand why Suri looks so unhappy and why her mom carries her. The paps are idiots looking for that one moment when a star loses it in front of the cameras so they can verify that Mr Nice Guy is actually a raging maniac, or that a child of four or five is capable of crying, and freaking out. I hate that they do that--especially to kids.

  12. I have seen paps just once, the day MJ died and Janet and Kate Hudson were in town. I was staying at a hotel and still have no clue who they were teying to pap - as the MJ news broke about 12 hours later.

However, Jakey G was in my city and checked out of a hotel because the paps were "chasing" him. Dude is clearly paranoid, because a much bigger star was here too and he never got papped. Of course Jakey G decided to take a local spin class and wasn't worried then!?!! I now have zero love for the guy!

    1. I grew up in the shadows of the industry...suburbs and the 80s. The kids I knew from show biz families were screwed up enough...flash forward 20 years and add technology. It's another world. Good on the celebs that shelter their kids.

  13. I can't believe how many typos were in my comment. I guess I had fury fingers thinking about someone yelling at a 4yo girl. GRRR.

Audrey, I've said the same thing when people are questioning why Katie carries Suri. Streets of New York and photographs constantly in your face, taking pictures and asking questions. You bet I'd be holding my kid everywhere we went. Including self-defense classes.

  14. Hi guys, OT but just had biggest laugh of the day so far. Bieber's bday ruined; hilarious...

  16. This is why they carry Suri - speaking of, WHY haven't any of our sites covered Tom Cruise's visit with her from the 27th? He sent a jet to pick her up from NYC & take her to London - no one has covered it and I think it's not fair.

I'm no Cruise apologist but I think it's not fair.

  17. Bridget,
I agree. This is the family that courted the paps for the happy family shots for awards season.
Boundaries were definitely crossed. Paps should not get that close to the child nor should they say a word to her. Good for Ben for protecting his daughter.

  18. Ben Affleck picking up his daughter from school picks are worth like $50.

Ben Affleck beating the fuck out of a paparrazi will be on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC.

They're yelling shit because everyone knows Ben's got a temper and you take a couple of punches and cash in large.

  19. They don't have zoom lenses? They have to get in the kid's face?

    So wrong.

  20. Ita, leave the kids alone. They have nothing to do with their parents fame. Maybe thats why we DONT see pics of suri with tom, they keeping it private and i am down with that. Also, dont want to rile up other cos's who cant see their family members. But the kids, as much as i enjoy looking at pics of them, are strictly off limits.

  21. It's one thing to let the paps take pictures of the family from a distance, but getting right up in people's faces, esp. little kids? NOT OK. Almost anyone will lose their temper if pushed far enough, particularly if they feel their children are being threatened--and this is noteworthy? Congratulations, assholes--you made a little girl cry! Was it worth it just so you could try to make money off your shitty pictures?

I know this is rich coming from someone reading a gossip site, but the whole notion that celebrities owe us all kinds of access in exchange for their fame has gotten way out of hand. Yes, they should be reasonably polite in public spaces to fans and people in general (if you treat retail workers, waitstaff, etc. badly, I don't care who you are; civilian or celeb, you're still an asshole). But putting up with pap attacks 24/7/365? Um, no, and don't tell me it's necessary to get gossip, because it seems to me that at least 90% of what we read here and elsewhere doesn't come from pap photos, but from personal accounts by people who witnessed the goings-on. While I certainly don't wish physical harm to the paps (the karma the mean ones are building up should do the trick nicely...), I can't say I'm entirely surprised about the one who was murdered recently--if you push the wrong people too far, they will strike back; the obvious ones get into physical fights w/the paps, but I could see someone w/the ability to make it happen having someone taken out permanently. (No, I doubt it was Brad; surely he would have done something before now if he were that kind of person?) People have already been hurt and killed on both sides, so when is enough enough?

Maybe this is one of the sad reasons certain celebs use nannies so much, as a form of protection from the paps in public.

  23. I do believe a legal argument could be made for the use of mace in situations like that. Because - horrifyingly in these ridiculously violent days - you never know who could be hiding in the guise of a pap. Step off or get face full of mace.

Clever link thing is pretty easy to do Munchkin. I just memorized the code to do it when I learned years ago at The Majority Report blog [h/t the Sunny J] .. remove the spaces between the < a and the ending >'s below and use whatever link you want and whatever text you want between the < and >'s in the middle bit ...

    So .. < a href="http://blog.pawngo.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/tiffany.jpeg" >My Gift to You!!< /a > .. will become My Gift to You!!

Nice description of linking using HTML

  27. OT and back to the beav, how is it that a 14 year old is the bieb's best friend? and where are his parents saying you don't go to clubs and drink? did he get flown to london to party with bieber who has been all over the press smoking and drinking narcotic cough medicine? seriously????

  28. The celebrities who don't pimp out their kids don't have issues with paps. I have no idea what Matt Damon's kids look like. Affleck is 100% responsible for his kid's distress, and probably set this up too so he could get support from the minivan crowd for being a 'protective' dad. Vomit.

  29. @ parissucksliterally - Exactly! Paps can take photos of Princess Kate's tits from 2 miles away, yet they're feeling the need to get into a 4 year old's face? Yep, they're trying to provoke Ben. "Enraged Oscar winner strikes photographer".

@ munchkin - Bieber's birthday was ruined??? Waaaahhhhh! And who is Ella-Paige Roberts Clarke and why does she have so many names?

  30. Hunter, it was covered. There were plenty of sites with pics of Katie taking Suri to the plane. If there haven't been any pictures of them together, it's probably because Tom wants to keep the visit quiet from the Scios.

    ReplyDelete
  31. While campaigning for an Oscar he pimped the hell out of those kids and now that the Oscars are over he's pissed at the paps for taking a picture of his kid.

I am so over celebrity hypocrites who think they get to pick and choose what the paps take pictures of or don't.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Enty do you pay to use the photos in Random Photos? If so, lay off the kid photos in the future. Let them have a childhood. They didn't choose to have famous parents.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how Ben (or Jen) pimped out their kids per Oscar? They went about their usual parental duties, as we always see them do. School, farmers market, etc. same ol', same ol'. The pictures of Ben swinging his leg out are from closest range I have seen in a while of any celeb, but def a celeb with a kid in arms. This doesn't look like a set up (by Ben) at all. It looks like an over zealous pap wanted a reaction and didn't care about involving a kid. I think it is shameful and disgusting. We don't see Damon's kids because they live in FL, not LA (though they did recently buy a house in Pac Pal). We see the kids who live in NY and LA, where the paps are. I wouldnt wish for fame in a nightmare, especially nice kids are involved.
