Barbara Walters Is Retiring
Barbara Walters is making plans to retire. A few weeks ago it was thought Barbara might be heading out the door in a matter of weeks. It turns out though it will not be quite that fast. Barbara is set to make an announcement that she will be leaving The View in May 2014. So, yeah, over a year away. I understand the network would probably like to plan ahead, but, 14 months is a loooong time. In that time span, Lindsay Lohan will probably be arrested a few more times and might even get another acting job. It is so long that most people will probably forget that she even announced her retirement now and will treat it as a new story next year.
How often is she even on The View as it is? If she's retired, then ABC can just make it a bigger deal when she comes back to do her Most Fascinating People special each year.
ReplyDeleteMost fascinating people is so lame.
DeleteYou know she's thinking she can't possibly "retire" w less fanfare than Oprah, and that includes the year long run up.
ReplyDeleteShe sounded exhausted and her speech was slurred last week when she hosted 20/20. I'd be surprised if she makes it the year.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye and good riddance! Words can not express how much I despise Baba Wawa. I got compared to her constantly as a child because I had a speech problem--instead of punishing the bullies who called me retard or foreigner (because my voice sometimes sounded Japanese or British) i always got the lecture from the teachers about Baba Wawa. She was an excuse for me to get the lectures because I was too sensitive and for the bullies to be vindicated, because after all look at how they made fun of her on SNL, right? So youre getting off easy by being bullied here honey--that was the attitude i got every day in school till I finally dropped out.
ReplyDeleteShe's not Oprah. She has to get over it and move on.
ReplyDeleteWow. She has never been pretty.
ReplyDeleteOmg fucking hilarious! You read minds lol hoooo lol
DeleteI thought her face would look fresher than that. That pic looks ancient shiiiiit.
DeleteWeren't there rumours that she was suffering from some dementia? (I mean recently, not the ego dementia.)
ReplyDelete@scratchy, ugh, I'm sorry you had to deal with that. :/ Bullies suck.
Wow, she was old even back in the day.
ReplyDeleteShe should have retired 5 years ago!
ReplyDelete@jbeebs...exactly.
ReplyDelete@jbeebs - I'll do one better. She should have retired 15 years ago. She's boring and plastic.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to endure that Scratchy. I got teased too although not as bad as you.
ReplyDeleteBaba does need to retire and sooner rather than later. Her day is over. She should be gracious about it.
Babs had quite the career. Kudos to her for all the BS sexism she endured in her career. She kicked the door open for a lot of women. Time to graciously retire.
ReplyDelete14 months from now, LiLo will be dead. She will try to die a martyr, like her idol Marilyn Monroe. Doesn't LILO turn 27 any day now?
ReplyDeleteJust like all the greats, she's not going to really retire. she might take a vacation, might even film a retirement special, but she'll get bored and go back to what she loves.
ReplyDeleteScratchy, sorry you went through that. Hope you have found good people to surround yourself with.
ReplyDeleteBarbara Walters is a pioneer in the world of Broadcasting and I admire her for that but I am old enough to remember Nancy Dickerson and wonder had she not died young what she would be doing now she was sharp, beautiful and an excellent journalist.
