Last week I told you about Dafne, the girl in Mexico who gave birth. Originally, police had been told the girl was 9. t turns out that after the world jumped all over this, police discovered the girl was actually 12. I'm not sure how that makes it better, but I guess it does until you discover that the father of the baby is the girl's stepfather who is 44 and that the stories about mom wanting the girl to start turning tricks at 12 to help the family make a living is true. Oh, and that the stepfather sleeps with all the daughters is true too. The stepfather (above) turned himself into authorities who made him answer questions of the media.
Vile. I hope the mom goes to jail as well.

ReplyDelete@Karen - I played with Barbies at 12 also - and thought boys were icky. Jail is too good for both the stepdad and the mom. Child rape should be punishable by at LEAST castration - and I wouldn't say no to death. Same for the "mother" (in name only).

ReplyDeleteI have daughters aged 10 and 11 (almost 12). I swear to all that is holy of anybody ever even spoke to them in an impure manner all Hell would reign down upon them.
They are only children for a very short time. They have years to deal with adult issues and situations. My heart goes out to her.

ReplyDeleteTechnically, the age of consent in parts of Mexico is 12, but that's the absolute cut-off; below that age, sex is always illegal. From 12-18, the laws vary by region, and tend to depend on the circumstances.
