Scott Weiland Found Out He Was Fired By Reading About It
The rest of Stone Temple Pilots finally reached their breaking point with lead singer Scott Weiland and fired him yesterday. How did Scott find out? By reading it online. From drugs to doing his own thing at all times and not caring about anyone else in the band except for himself, Scott did not make any friends with his behavior. I think the only reason he lasted this long with the band is the extensive break they had which gave everyone a long time to be away from the guy. Scott has a solo tour that starts tomorrow and says he will let his lawyers handle the rest of the mess with the group.
I love this guy's talent. Hate that he's such a self absorbed asshole.
ReplyDeletePerfectly said!
DeleteThis is sad. As a whole, STP are super talented. But being an addict in that lifestyle gives a person a mountain with seemingly no top to climb. Wish he'd get cleaned up, but it's probably about the end of his career now.
ReplyDeleteHuge STP and Weiland fan. I just hope he's OK and gets his life together. Please let there be a Velvet Revolver reunion in the future.
ReplyDeleteDamn I didn't know they were still around; I used to love STP but Pear Jam was always my favorite. I guess I let PJ overshawdow my love for STP. They both made really good music.
ReplyDeleteSo sad. He's so talented and they are an amazing band. Drugs suck!

ReplyDelete@nevermindthat, Pear Jam wins for best typo of the day!!
ReplyDeleteMmmm pear jam.... why is is that super talented people are so self absorbed so often? He is SCARY skinny. I can see what he had for lunch, nothing.
ReplyDeleteBoo @ a Velvet Revolver reunion. Slash is doing well with his solo work with the infinitely more talented Spokane native Myles Kennedy. Who, incidentally, was my ex-wife's guitar teacher for three years.
ReplyDeleteHe is an amazing performer, when he gives a shit about actually singing. His performance was blah when I saw them in San Diego after he left Velvet Revolver.
ReplyDeleteHe should do the flipside of Mark Wahlberg's role in Rock Star. He can start an STP tribute band. That way he can be his own boss, take all the drugs he wants & not have to deal with any pesky interventions.
ReplyDeleteLongtime lurker, first time poster. I adore STP and Scott Weiland, but he is truly a poster child for the effects copious amounts of drugs & alcohol. I saw STP in 2008, and while Scott could still sing (and sound amazing!), anytime he tried to speak to the audience, it was a garbled mess. To add insult to injury, it was the first year Jones Beach went dry (no alcohol sold within the venue) and Scott came on with a HANDLE of Jack Daniel's. Not a little bottle, not a snifter, but a handle. It was ludicrous.
ReplyDeleteBut what will happen is this: Scott will do his solo thing (which isn't very good) and the DeLeo brothers will do their thing (which also isn't very good). (Eric is kind of the free spirit of the four). And in about 5-7 years when all parties need money again, they'll do a reunion (provided Scott is alive). While all four members of STP are talented musicians, apart, the music is lacking. Together, magic.
His downward trajectory reminds me of Axl Rose. Ridiculously talented artist who is now an unrecognizable shell of his former self.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, they would have fired him by fax.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I saw them play this past summer! They kicked ass, but you could tell Scott wasn't sober and had done did too many drugs! They were 30 minutes late getting on stage and Scott was not very talkative to the audience... but the music did kick ass.
ReplyDeleteOh Scott what a waste!!
ReplyDeleteI saw STP in 1999 or 2000 and they were amazing. Scott stayed sober for years before falling off the wagon again. He needs to give it another try.
ReplyDeleteI used to think Scott was so hot back in the day. That's all I have to contribute to this discussion.
ReplyDeleteI thought I read somewhere that Scott Weiland was bipolar and has only been diagnosed in the last few yrs. the drugs and alcohol are probably an attempt to self-medicate. It's tragic. I hope someday he chooses to straighten up and hopefully live to see his 50's.
ReplyDeleteI know his Mother. She was pissed that not only was he a heroin addict, he got his brother hooked too. Scott could afford rehab. The brother could not.
ReplyDeleteYears ago there was a site called Dickipedia that had a posting on Scott. It was the most hilarious thing I ever read. Why does it seem like artists are such tortured souls?
ReplyDelete@greenmountaingal: I concur. He was so sexy back in the day.. I could watch their MTV Unplugged performances all day long.
ReplyDeleteI saw STP in 1993 and Velvet Revolver in 2007. Such a sad, sad difference in looks/talent :(
He lived with a good friend of mine and got him into heroin.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's still around... but how!? How is he still alive?
