Robin Roberts Is Back

If you turned on Good Morning America this morning, you probably noticed a familiar face. Robin Roberts is back after a six month absence. It honestly did not feel that long because even though she was no on the air everyday, it seemed like ABC and Robin did their best to keep her very much in the public eye and not to let audiences forget about her. Considering that most audiences love her like I love bacon, that is probably a smart move on their part and why they continued to crush Today even while she was gone. Huh. Robin is likable and the show wins. Matt Lauer is not likable and their show loses. Seems simple when you put it that way.

  1. Don't know her, and I'm sick of her. Way too many promos.

  2. Welcome back Robin - you were missed. Matt Lauer can lick a toad...

  3. Glad to have her back. I am worried that it must've been a bit rushed, but if she's feeling ok enough to be back then good for her.

  4. Welcome back Robin!

The women who read my local news were beyond happy for today. They have Robin or usually Josh do a lead in to GMA at around 630 every morning on my news and those two were in tears, that's how happy they were.

  5. LOVE her. aside from ratings gold, i hope this return is in her best interest, not just the network's.

  6. Yeah Robin's back! Glad she's feeling better :)

And RCB - thanks for the shout out yesterday! Glad you had a great birthday!!!

  7. I like her but I think the network is using her illness & comeback as ratings gold to make for the a*holery that is Matt Lauer & what they did to Ann Curry. Hope she gets a very good offer from a better show!

Someone is sick of Robin? WTF???

  10. I like Robin and I'm glad she's better.

I always preferred GMA to the Today show, except for Lara Spencer. She irks me.

    1. Me too green mountain! She's so plain and boring, she might as well be vanilla pudding. Her and George are so put of place. I wish they'd bring Biana Goligreva (sp) or the blonde that filled in for a robin (her name always escapes me) and make Josh the main anchor. Him and Robin have such great chemistry. George is nice but belongs on the political Sunday morning shows.

Thank goodness. Now they can stop talking about her. It was too much. Glad she's better, though........

  12. Yeah, sorry, but it was all a bit too much. She's a t.v. host, which is good for her, but give me a break. There are lots of terrific under-valued un-promoted people out there who are far sicker. This reeks of ratings hyper vigilance.

The woman had cancer and MDS. She had a bone marrow transplant. Far sicker is subject, because that's pretty damn sick to me.

I gotta assume that many GMA fans ask about her, so the promos served as updates.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say some of you rather she stay away. Like you're blaming Robin. It SEEMS that way, JMO.

No layna. We just don't need 20 reminders a week that she's returning. One or two would've sufficed. Nice LEAP though.....

Being far sicker is subjective, I was trying to say.

  15. I read the Kneepads story about her, and her mom died right before she got the bone marrow transplant. She isn't married, so she went through this without those important supports. And she has a great attitude and doesn't feel sorry for herself. As someone who suffers from a chronic illness, she is an inspiration

  16. I wonder if they ran a repeat or color bars over at Today this morning, the only people watching them this morning were in their control room.

  17. I haven't watched regularly GMA since Diane Sawyer and Charlie Gibson were the hosts and she was the third but I like her a lot. She is very genuine and it's easy to care for her.

  18. Yes, agreed. Far sicker is subjective. So, that is my view as I said.

  19. Not blaming Robin. ??

Blaming the network for the hype.

Again, I don't get the criticism. Robin is happy to be back, ABC is happy to have her back. Of course they were going to promote the daylights out of it. One of their own--who had been VERY sick--was returning.

GMA is already getting great ratings. Does Robin's return bring in more numbers? Sure. But's it pretty cynical to take that from the situation.

I didn't leap to squat, the side-eye attitude was already planted. I just pointed it out.

Whatever, indeed. Have a different opinion and it's automatically wrong and someone lept to something. Couldn't possibly be another way of looking at things.

    Whatever, yeah.

Sit down the glass of wine and go back and read your first comment. you made a snide comment towards anyone who was not over the moon about Robin being back. Several of us commentors didn't practice perfect herd mentality and you got snippy. But yeah it was just your humble opinion.

  25. Amazing how some people can find the worst of any situation and then hone in on it. I'm glad she's recovering. I have admiration for people who go through and remain so positive.

  26. @ fancy -- YES!

Or someone owns Robin Roberts stock or something.

  27. I think she's as boring as rice pudding. I watch ABC's World News Now (love Rob Nelson), and the promos for Robin returning were way too much. I understand she was sick. I get that they care about their fellow newscaster, but there was WAY too much promotion about it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like Robin and am glad she is on the road to recovery.

That said...really over promoting the networks? Of course, it is always for ratings. Just once, I would love it if these network shows tried new people, really talented people who just need a chance...but no it is not to be.

Yeah, because if someone doens't agree with you, they MUST on the rag.

If the rest of you wanna bitch about the press over Robin's promotion over coming back? It's on you. I find it to be looking at the negative rather than appreciating her return. What

Don't have to own fan stock to have that opinion--do I? Only in your world.

@layna...u were either on the rag or drunk because of your questionable emotional state over such a trivial matter. IMO

Can we end this now? Lets just agree to disagree.

    :^)

I don't have to agree to shit, especially with someone who is questioning my emotional state. We don't each other like that.

No one has to be drunk or bleeding to disagree with someone. That's weak sauce, come up with better putdowns.

    You've got some nerve--IMO.
