My Bloody Valentine Is Back

After 22 years, My Bloody Valentine has finally released a new album. They did so as a surprise on their website last night. The site promptly crashed because of all the traffic. The last album they released was called Loveless. That was a great album. The band had been teasing the new record for four months but there was never any release date and then last night they just sprung it on the world. The group formed in Dublin back in 1983.

  1. Ahhh. Some of my Facebook friends were talking about MBV and I had no idea what they meant.

  2. Heh. I thought it was the movie My Bloody Valentine. I know the guy who wrote the screenplay for that movie.

  3. So excited! Between this announcement and Stone Roses playing Coachella, my 14-15 y.o. self is in heaven.

  4. When I was a teenager, I had a boyfriend whose favorite band was MBV. I had never heard of them, but I saw a My Chemical Romance CD in a store & got confused (valentine/romance/I'm an idiot) & said, "Hey isn't that the band you like?" And my boyfriend FREAKED OUT, got this look of absolute disgust on his face that I have since never seen on any other person's face, and broke up with me.
So I never bothered to listen to MBV after that, though several people have told me I'd love them.

  5. So excited. I thought my husband was bullshitting me when he pulled out Loveless, put it in on the record player, and gave me the news. I can't believe Kevin Shields is finally giving us a new mbv album - even 22 years later I'm ecstatic.

    1. LOL good movie, not a biased opinion. Todd's the guy who was the bald truckdriver. He's an excellent writer. Just don't tell him that so he doesn't get a swollen, bald head. :)

    1. @Derek - I'm ridiculously into shoegaze britpop. Swervedriver-A+. Check into Tindersticks & The Swirlies. Toshack Highway is a side band of Swervedriver. Just some recs based off of the two bands you mentioned. Let me know if you dig 'em :)

  11. @Burnout that IS a travesty. IDIOTS. Well didn't one of them kill themselves and then their last album was very very commercial (but still pretty good). I had music festivels anyways, unless it NXNE in Toronto.

Don't know, don't care. I'm 31 years old and have no need for rebellious punk/teenage music. Just not my thing. God I sound old. Turn that racket down!!
