Latin American Idol Winner Busted For Heroin Smuggling

Talk about going from national hero to nothing in a very short time. Three years ago, Martha Heredia won Latin American Idol and the President of the Dominican Republic told everyone of the citizens of the country to vote for her. She was so popular at the time that she could have won a presidential election. Then, thanks to bad management who did not take advantage of her fame correctly and some very poor decisions and actions by Martha including killing a boy with her car when he was running across the street and a marriage which had the 22 year old calling police frequently about being beaten. Yesterday Martha was arrested after police found 3 pounds of heroin in the heels of her shoes as she was boarding a flight from the Dominican Republic to New York City. She faces 10 years in jail if convicted.

    What a dumb ass. I have no respect for anyone who tries to smuggle drugs through airports these days. However, if you do succeed in smuggling massive amounts, you have my respect becuase IMO that would be pretty impressive.

    Would you put it in your tampons? There is so much xray technology nowadays.

    I wonder if she was forced by the drug cartels. Given her history of bad decisions, perhaps they made an offer she couldn't refuse. I'm sure it happens a lot more than we think. Remember that British woman in, what was it, Thailand? And that Mexican singer who died in the plane crash?

    Dang that's a good idea on how to smuggle even though I'm against drugs. She should have lined the wedge with something to block the drugs from the scanner thing at the airport or flown through a private plane.

    I watched the video. Nothing special at all about her voice. Makes you wonder about the other contestants. Maybe she was the best of the bunch?

    I can't believe people are impressed by drug smuggling skills. When you read about stupid teenagers overdosing daily from heroin you might change your mind. Sadly, heroin is plentiful and cheap and there is a new target audience of suburban teenagers who don't realize how harmful it is.
