Jennifer Lawrence Goes Boom

Jennifer Lawrence might have fallen during her walk to the stage to accept the Best Actress award, but she covered nicely during her chat with the media. Kind of looks she was doing a Tebow.

  1. My unpopular opinion is that I'm sick of JLaw being shoved down our throats. At first I didn't mind her and I'll take her over AnnE any day, but I'm over her now.

  2. I would have loved if she had said "I fell! I fell in Dior!" (SATC reference). She's still my favorite for a long time for saying "I beat Meryl!" (First Wives Club) at the Globes

  3. That was a lot of dress....

  4. Damn I can't stand her. She knew she had that Oscar just like Anne did. Had too laugh when she fell. Hell she probably fell on purpose, don't see what is so likeable about that chick.

If someone has a problem with Lawrence, they're just looking to have issues with someone for no good reason. She seems to be nice, self-deprecating, and taking the Hollywood thing in stride without going off the rails.

A definite case of damned if you do, f*cked if you don't. This is why we can't have nice things. We get someone decent a star and we still gripe about it.

I agree, I do get that people have their own reasons for like and dislike but personally I don't see much of anything to dislike about her. She's so refreshing!

    2. Agreed! She's a breath of fresh air. Not nearly as insufferable and rehearsed as AnnE. JLaw, please don't change!

someone AS a star, I'm trying to say.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Thank you Layna, I agree completely. People need to realize you DON'T KNOW THESE PEOPLE! Just watching them in interviews and whatnot does not make you an expert on their personality.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I like Jennifer Lawrence, but it just seems like as a 22 year old, she was horribly miscast in Silver Linings Playbook. But apparently, the academy does not share my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I love Jennifer L. I think she's a breath of fresh air in the industry. Hopefully she'll make it OK to keep an extra five pounds on.

You just can't complain about everyone. If they're too nice, they're faking it. They're reserved, they must be a b*tch. They're ugly, they're too skinny, they're full of themselves, they're too theatrical. Folks, they're actors, we have no clue who or what they really are. Have fun with it, snark away, but honestly? Some of them seem alright but we hate them, anyway. What gives?

And really? No one trips on purpose during the Oscars.

  11. I think she's hilarious, so not in danger of disappearing up her own arse, like so many are.

Over here in Blighty, one of the BBC Radio's entertainment correspondents scored an interview with Ben Affleck (quite the coup), and then asked him if he felt he'd come a long way "since Gigli". Affleck was stunned, silent, and next to him was Clooney, who was absolutely livid about the question!

Back to the clip. Don't some interviewers/correspondents ask the dumbest questions? Points to Lawrence for showing them how stupid they were.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I think she is a beautiful and charming young lady. I don't get why people want to knock someone so polished. Oy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. As a person who found Jennifer Lawrence intolerable up until recently I must say she's really grown on me. She seems sweet, down to earth, a little goofy. I resonate with her because I am all of those things. Oh and clumsy. I fall constantly. Plus she has an incredible booty. Yes I am jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am always saying exactly these things about Angelina, how we don't actually know her, and nobody listens.
People make up their minds about someone, and fit everything that person does into the mold they've created, anything that doesn't fit is forgotten.

Just like they attack Anne for everything. Everything this year. She's not surprised she won, but would you be?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sorry, I was talking about what iheartgoss said.

    1. I agree. I guess I shouldn't be surprised people do these types of things. We all judge people on limited knowledge about them. Even our own spouses, there's no way to ever know absolutely about someone except yourself so we really can't judge people at all. Poor Angelina... Hated because she stole a man, but I just miss her pre-Brad because she was all crazy and sexed up with Billy Bob. Miss them together.

  16. I love her but that dress is hideous. I usually love everything she wears, she always looks great, but she should have said no to that big bunch of tissue paper.

    ReplyDelete
  17. She is so genuine and adorable in interviews. I love that she doesn't have the jaded filter that most stars have. She looks like she'd be fun to hang out with. Her falling in that monstrosity of a dress is something a normal human would do.

I guess we all really do have different taste. I adore her.

    ReplyDelete
  18. She handled that fall with such great humor. It's good to see an actress with a real sense of humor and not one who just fakes it for the camera. I'm glad she won.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Her stumble actually made an old-fashioned dramatic looking picture -- lovely, too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love her, she's sweet and funny and sounds a little bit like Brenda Vaccaro.

    AnnE otoh....

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think she is cute and real and seems to be pretty normal, unlike a huge number of people in that town. She appears to be sincere and hasn't turned into a Hollyweird b*tch yet who thinks she's better than everyone else. I hope she never does. In the mean time, I think she is very easy to root for and I like hearing what she has to say. It isn't necessarily profound, but it's honest.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think Rachel Zoe is Anne's stylist too. I think she secretly must hate them both, judging by their dresses.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well said everyone! Okay mostly well said.

I know this is a gossip site, and the mode of operation is build them up, tear them down and stomp on them but, I like her, I find her charming in a Sandra Bullock kind of way.

And I loved her dress. It was very Dior, and she looked lovely in it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh and VIPBlonde that would have been EPIC! lol

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like her because she reminds me of Sandra Bullock (before her Oscar win), a little goofy, a little unrehearsed, which is the total opposite of AnnE who just tries too hard to be liked. IMO

    ReplyDelete
  26. That picture with 'I volunteer as tribute' written on the top is making the rounds. It's pretty funny.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can't help but laugh at the "she fell on purpose" theories. If anyone was going to do a fake fall, I'm sure they would've tried to make it a little more glamorous. I think the humongous skirt caused the fall, but at least it hid how unflatteringly splayed her legs must have been.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was horrified for her! No one wants to fall during their glory moment and she was so gracious about it.

Poor thing was wearing an enourmous dress that made her unsteady! Who would have had good balance wearing a giant bell!?!

And lets remember that she is only 22 years old. I was no where near as poised or confident then. I was wasting time dancing to techno at Raves and gay bars. Yes I AM a Geriatric Raver!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Absolutly love this chick. I found that so hilarious. She was herself and that is refreshing...she's not kissing any ass.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just laughed and laughed and laughed at that clip! I have not seen any of her movies but now I am a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I know people say we don't actually *know* these actors, and that it's not fair to say they're horrible/insufferable/etc., but whether they like it or not, they project an image. Sometimes that image is likeable, sometimes it's not.

I love her. I think she's a great actress and she seems really down to earth in interviews. I loved her dress last night, I thought she looked really lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Ok I just watch the video! I like this chick even more!!!

I want to do shots with you JLaw!

And some old dude reporter who says "aren't you worried about early success ruining your career". And she's like, "well now I am. thanks for ruining my moment! Asshole!"

    ReplyDelete
  33. Regarding the dislike towards some celebrities...I think each of has hits a saturation point with them. Same as a song you would listen to over and over gets boring and you can't stand it anymore. Or maybe they remind us of someone we didn't like in our past/present. They portray the same qualities of the person we don't like and by extension we don't like them either. It may just be a matter of the tolerance tank hitting "full".

And all the Gigli comments towards Ben last night...show me one person in that room that has not thrown a stink bomb of a movie. Just one. How clever they all are to pick on him. Let it go. He moved on from that failure and did pretty well for himself.

  34. I love Jennifer , and Hugh Jackman is a real class act to spring out of his seat to try to help her up. I noticed Bradley Cooper didn't move, and he was sitting right behind her

    ReplyDelete
  36. @kitty I agree. I think that stumble pic is kind of beautiful somehow!
I really like her. I wish her much more success. It's going to be hard to top herself at such a young age, but if anyone can do it, she can.

    ReplyDelete
  37. JLaw +1000! Love her, the interview, her sense of humour (it started with an F!), all of it. I'm with you, @Seachicka.

    ReplyDelete
  38. goss, Alex, I'm talking more about people that get a certain rep, and people never let go of that. No matter what they do after, they're judged for how they acted, what they did in their 20's.
After people have shown they've grown, that could maybe mitigate the hate? That's all I'm saying.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Count me on the Jennifer Lawrence team. I loved her speech last night and I thought she handled her tripping up the stairs with whimsy and humor.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Renoblondee I was thinking the same thing!! she looks beautiful, like a princess from a fairytale

    ReplyDelete
  41. LA Mac---Are you serious?!? I totally missed that. Cooper is a jackass, probably tripped her. Of course Hugh helped her, he's such a gentleman.

I told my BF about Cooper possibly being a beater, and my BF (who had never seen Cooper in anything) said, "Oh yeah. It's in his eyes...look look!!"

    ReplyDelete
  42. Over-saturated by this trick from Hunger Games alone. Don't want to see her for a while. The goofy schtick got old quick for me. Disliked the dress because it looks like the Happy Birthday Barbie dress. The facial expressions look like Nicki Menage. Oy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Her interview afterwards cracked me up and def on board the Jennifer Lawrence train now. I'll admit I didn't want to like her, but that was more to do w me hating the hunger games and chick flicks which is what Silver Linings playbook sounds like. But first wives reference and her hilarious answers to those dumb questions, def like her now.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I like your comments about Ben, Patty.

Maybe they are all mad because he was supposed to be the golden boy who crashed and burned, and not the golden boy who grew up and became a great director? Hollywood is a petty, petty place.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I felt sorry for her. How embarrassing!

I thought Meryl Streep was super-classy and gracious when Meryl mentioned stepping all over her dress as she mad her way to present just after this happened. I sensed that she was letting JL know that "this kind of thing happens all the time."

    (PS - crappy grammar...apologies!)

  46. Love my fellow Kentucky girl! She's got a great attitude and isn't kissing ass. That look she gave that reporter was priceless, like, "wtf??"

    ReplyDelete
  47. Does this picture remind anyone of Drew Barrymore in Ever After when she runs away from the ball in her torn angel costume and falls?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Libby - you could see Hugh come into the side of the screen and extend his hand to her but she waved him off and stood up herself. You only see his side, but it was him

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ahhh!! she was my favorite of the night! but her dress i thought was too princessy and wedding dress-ish

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't feel like she's been shoved down our throats at all. I feel like Anne Hathaway has been. I currently love Jen L.

With that being said, I think Jen Lawrence is still a good, sweet, normal and genuine person...but see if fading within the next year or two, especially since the oscar win. She'll be a nasty, self absorbed diva before we know it. They all start out sweet and humble...then their heads all blow up and they become holier than thou.

    ReplyDelete
  51. The maternal in me rose to the surface and I just wanted to pick her up, dust her off and give her a hug. Like her or not, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think if Chastain won, we would currently be hating her.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I now absolutely ADORE her. Her answers to the questions were genuine and funny and NORMAL. I totally heart her. It doesn't hurt she's a Kentucky girl, too :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. LOVE Hugh for instinctively jumping to get rescue. Did anyone else catch Anne cheering with Oscar in hand when Jen got back up? That was sweet too.

The real show stated in the press room. What kind of question is "are you worried you may have peaked too soon?" Lol she was a good sport about it though.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh and I loved her dress. It's Dior, doesn't remind me of a wedding dress at all. Amy Adams dress had more of a wedding gown feel, the tulle was a but much.

    ReplyDelete
  56. She needs a new stylist. She had s dress compartment from the lining (that was not a design element), she is fit and tall and young do she can wear some amazing stuff. That little black number she wore recently was great on her.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I second @Lauren Eaker's opinion. So many actresses are contrived, full of themselves or just regurgitate what their PR people tell them to say. Here is a broad that really seems human, something your Kidmans, Anistons, and Hathaways of the world will never be.

Look at what a twat that Stewart ho is after being in one franchise movie. Lawrence has 2 franchises going, along with 2 Oscar noms and a win. And she's not papped all over the place and daily tabloid fodder. If she handles her $$ right, she could walk away by 30 and not lift a finger the rest of her life.

I only hope that all this success doesn't keep her from showing her tits in a film.

P.S. Next "Your Turn" should be: What actress would you have rather seen fall down on their way to get an award?

    /ramble

  58. I love her! I loved her in that winter bones movie, and in the hunger games and my least fave movie she was in was silverbook... She was good in it, but I didnt feel it was her best stuff.

From her interviews etc she seems very kind, down to earth and kinda raunchy humor. she doesnt kiss ass and she says it how shes sees it. I like her

  66. I get the "love to hate" celebrity thing, I do. I do it too. But it always fascinates me as to who gets sh*t all over and who gets a pass. Everyone hates Anne but gushes all over he insufferable ass that is DDL.

Seriously, he's a complete a**hole on a personal level (dumps Isabelle Adjani BY FAX because she got pregnant. Goes off to Europe and gets married - meanwhile HIS LIVE-GIRLFRIEND that he had at the time finds out about it when her friend, hearing that DDL got married, called her to say congrats. Girlfriend is like, uh, he didn't marry me, and *he didn't even have the balls to tell her*

And his insufferable priggishness on the professional level. He's at the Golden Globes, at the same event Bill Clinton spoke at, and when he gets up for his speech says, "Is there room for two former presidents on stage?"

Let's think about this. On the one hand we have a man who worked his whole life, campaigned for, and was elected (twice) to the highest office in our country. He was freaking leader of the free world. He had all the power and responsibility and everything that comes with such lofty office.

On the other hand, you have DDL who pretended to be a president in movie LUMPING HIMSELF IN WITH AN ACTUAL PRESIDENT. Like that's totally appropriate. Like his importance is on par. Please.

I know I"ll get crap for this - I'm just genuinely interested in who sets off the hate-o-meter and who slides by, and why.

I also thought the Presidents comment was funny, especially since he is such a method actor.

  67. @ Livia You won't get crap from me, I CANNOT stand DDL! he is full of shit. Anne became insufferable when she started campaigning for her Oscar because it seemed desperate, I hope the Oscar-greed wears off and she goes back to her old self.

AND---I love him if he really did say no to a movie with Julia Roberts, but only AFTER she'd flown out to f*ck him as a 'convincer.'
IF that story's true, it's a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I kinda have a love/hate relationship with BCoop. I want to believe he's all nice and good but I just can't believe it. I did feel though that he needed some love because of his efforts in saving Jennifer ;)

I do love love love DDL but he is/was a major MANWHORE. I read an interview with Isabella Adjani where she said that it was her who phoned his live-in girlfriend to congratulate her on the marriage but lo and behold, he had married -Rebecca Miller and not her. I still love him though. It's unexplainable.

I've never warmed up to AnnE Hathaway and I doubt I ever will. I do enjoy her performances though, I just mute her speeches.

And Jennifer Lawrence can do no wrong in my book. I think she's the only young actress these days that I like. I can't name any other 20 something chick that I like! And that conversation with Jack is one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

  74. Sounds like we're all supposed to "hate" Jennifer Lawrence now she's got an Oscar. Boo, I refuse to be goaded, implied, innuendoed into this. She seems like a good kid, I've seen nothing to the contrary, and that was a great recovery after her fall. Oh, and DUH, of course she's being promoted with an Oscar. The "unexpected" win by a young woman over seasoned veterans is an Oscar perennial which really ought to be retired. But won't be.

    ReplyDelete
  75. They left off that clip right after the last guy asked his stupid "peaking too soon - don't you wish your career was going much worse considering your age" stupid question she said something like "What is this? A room where everybody takes turns making fun of me?". Then the disembodied voice announced "Last question" and JL said loudly "Thank God!!".

    She's great.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Of course she fell, LOL. If she hadn't, I'd have been surprised. Love her - ever since "Winter's Bone"! I don't know that she deserved to win, but suspect she did because she is so likable. She comes across as the average girl next door, and seems genuine. Damn good actress, too.

That being said, the Oscars are soooooo predictable. And this year it looks like all the money went into the garish set design rather than towards good writing and production.

    ReplyDelete
  77. i really like j-law. there's something humble and endearing about her that i just don't find in annE hathaway types. good for her for having so much grace in an embarrassing moment. i thought everything about her last night was lovely, and i hope her stock continues to rise. we need more of her and less of annE, k-stew, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Oh man, J-Law covered so well. "I love all your movies..." while she fumbles for the Taser in her clutch.

Jacky-boy, she's waaaay too young for you, and could kick your decrepit ass.

  79. I do wonder how inadequate JL makes actors feel who spend years going to drama schools learning techniques & theories about acting and here JL who never took an acting lesson walks on camera at 16 in The Poker House and gives a performance 99% of the actors in Hollywood will never match no matter how many lessons they take or how many books they read on the craft. Then she follows that up with Winter's Bone & Silver Linings Playbook. I almost felt relieved for her that she finally got to relax in X-Men First Class. That seemed like a day at the beach for her compared to the heart wrenching dramatic performances in her indie film career.

    ReplyDelete
  80. @lazyday, she was so good in The Poker House... was trying to remember the name. Did you know that's Lori Petty's story? She wrote and directed it, that's how she grew up. Harsh. I saw it after I saw Winter's Bone and I went looking for more JL to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I adore her. And after last night I love her even more. That media interview was cracking me up last night. "You don't worry about peaking too soon?" Throws arm in the air "Well now I am." I also love when she said, "I feel like I'm picking people to make fun of me."

    ReplyDelete
  82. @EmEyeKey, back when "A League of Their Own" 1st came out I couldn't watch Lori Petty's eyes without starting to cry. She could show so much pain at how her older sister could do everything better than her, no matter how hard she tried. After seeing & reading about The Poker House I learned how she came by those pained eyes. What an awful way to grow up.

    ReplyDelete
  83. So where is the explanation for JLaw giving a middle finger in her press appearance last night?

I knew last night watching the show that it was Cooper who jumped up to help her, he was sitting right next to her so of course he was the one who showed up on camera. Not sure why so many people thought it was Hugh, but glad to see the gif shows it was both of them.

    ReplyDelete
  84. You know damn well that Nicholson had an 8Ball with her name on it. A man is only as old as the woman he is having sex with ;)

    ReplyDelete
  85. @lazyday, I agree. It explains those eyes.

I also didn't know LP was a painter. I really like some of her work.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I like Jennifer Lawrence, but she was miscast in the movie she won for. She's only 22, so where is her career going to go? I have a feeling she will go the way of Halle Berry and make bombs. At least she's not married and saved from the Best Actress Oscar curse.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I just re-watched the clip and it is Hugh on camera, which is funny to me that I thought it was Cooper. Cooper is there hugging her right before she tripped, so maybe I just thought it was him right away on my little TV. Still glad that it was both of them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. I both love and hate her dress and I'm not surprised it made her fall. (Incidentally, it looked white on camera; I was surprised at reports that it's actually pink.)

I loved that post Oscar interview. She does seem genuine and I hope that this series of wins won't change her. She mentions her family a lot. Hopefully they will help keep her grounded.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ben Affleck has no reason to be angry about Gigli. No one forced him to make that movie. He and Clooney should have stock answers ready when reporters ask they about Gigli and Facts of Life. They weren't angry when they were accepting paychecks for those jobs and they shouldn't be pissed off now that they're breathing rarefied Oscar air.

    ReplyDelete
  90. "I do wonder how inadequate JL makes actors feel who spend years going to drama schools learning techniques & theories about acting...."

Lazyday, I can tell you exactly how the hard grifters of the craft feel about people like that: some resent them, but the real pros admire 'em. A little ruefully, but not with resentment. They're the "naturals". They just walk in off the street as young punks, no training, read through the script once and then--almost always reading for the role that everyone wants--gives the most utterly perfect performance possible. There are those rare few, and if you've ever worked with them in-scene or watched them work close-up, it's mind-boggling. They can be right there before you, then turn away for a few seconds and turn back being a completely different person.

I don't think that J-Law truly has that gift, but she's got a voice and she should follow it. The director in me wants to tell her, "Don't let anyone tell you how to act, for the next ten years at least. Just keep doing what you're doing."

    ReplyDelete
  91. Interesting tidbit Livia. I did not know that about DDL. And Libby, I want to hear the story about Julia Roberts trying to get him to work with her.

I love Jennifer but feel a little jaded by the mention the other day that Harvey bought her an Oscar. I sincerely think Jessica earned it and Jennifer could wait but we know that H'weird rewards youth.

And it looks like JLaw did an amazing job in the movie but again..Why a 22 yr old with a 39 year old man? That role should have been cast someone in their 30's with all the baggage the character apparently had. Again, crappy casting even though she did the part beautifully enough to earn an Oscar.

I absolutely loved her in Winter's Bone and in that interview. She was sharp! And when she met Jack Nicholson. Lord, I pray she wasn't left alone with that lecherous old man!!! But girlfriend looks like she can hold her own. Hope all this doesn't make her a huge Diva PITA.

  92. She looks like my mother's annoying dog so I can't like her. Not that I've ever actually seen her in anything or plan on it (hate movies and don't watch TV but love gossip). She also looks like a completely different person in every picture and her mouth is super weird. She's got too much skin around it, makes me think of the Stephen King story about the library police, if they make that into a movie she should play the monster. She's probably a nice person or whatever, I don't really care, but looking at her weird face creeps me out.

  93. I hope this doesn't offend you but if you don't watch movies or TV, how do you know who is being gossiped about? I skip the reality TV and hip hop blinds because I don't know anything about the players, so the gossip doesn't mean anything to me.

  94. Well, this does not look good for Dior. They have had two dresses deconstruct, and one take down an Oscar winner. I think the dress is a work of art, but at what cost?

  95. I love her with all my heart, so much I even kind of didn't want her to win since I'm so afraid of the backlash. I too didn't like the Harvey Weinstein bought her an Oscar-remark, but even though she's only turning 23 maybe her body of work speaks for itself already.

So maybe there won't be one; she has Hollywood at the palm of her hand. Sincerity is so fucking rare in Hollywood these days, she's like a ray of light and not even the most jaded H'wood star can resist just relaxing in her presence.

I've met people like her before and they are always the most sincere, charming and witty people. The most endearing thing is that you sense that they aren't even fucking trying; they're stars just by waking up in the morning! I carry a MAJOR torch for this lady and I hope she never changes!

  96. I think she's a nice girl and loved her in Winters Bone, that should have won her an Oscar IMHO, she was good in Silver Linings but I agree that she was miscast and not completely believable in the role. I think the problem is her handlers and movie execs like Weinstein who maybe did buy her that Oscar and have pushed her down our troaths to get that award. I hope she continues to make good movies, she has a lot of talent.

  97. She has what, 2 more Hunger Games and probably 2 more X-Men? With those pay days ahead, she can cherry pick 2 movies that she thinks will get her nominations, and be set for next 3-4 years as far as work goes.

  98. Liked JLaw in SLP, like her even more after seeing how she handled last night. Hope that she stays as she is, relatively unaffected. That's gonna be the hard part.

I worry how TPTB in Hwood will use her here out. If you thought SLP was awkward and age-inappropriate casting, wait for her next Russell film: she'll be playing a FIFTY yr old woman. That's how old Marie Weinberg was during the abscam antics; unless they plan on changing the characters age thereby really fictionalizing then she's playing more than TWICE her age. And all the male leads are almost twice her age. It boggles a bit.

She's a good actress though and it'll be interesting to see how she plays it.

  99. I thought she was freakin' hilarious.

  100. Jennifer is my BFF fo sho. She is unbelizeable!

I can agree with the miscasting in SLP, I never read the book, but from what I heard her character was a lot older. When I saw the movie I thought she had been cast to play someone in their mid 20's, not portraying her actual age. Whatever it was, I see the issue there.

The thing with Anne is that she comes across as a huge facade. Nothing about her seems genuine or real, everything she says and does is like a carefully constructed act in order to make the public think that she is this humble, nerdy, down to earth, oh shucks actress.
If she owned who she was and gave us a glimpse of that person I would definitely reconsider my dislike for her. But as it stands, she is still the same, insufferable, "who me?!" Ann with an E.

And really? You think Jennifer Lawrence face planted on live, national television at the most prestigious event for her profession, on purpose? If that really is what happened, then she deserves that damn Oscar every year for fooling the entire world into thinking she is the badass person that she is.

  101. I can't believe I am the only one who thought - her fee just went up for the Hunger Games sequel(s) still left to shoot. Then I thought of Liam & Miley and wondered what they thought and what kind of WTF looks they had on their face when she won...and I had a rather large, satisfied grin.

  102. Right Pink Palace? And it almost seems like she shouldn't even continue with that franchise, like it's almost beneath her now that she has her Oscar. I do wonder if they'll try to renegotiate her fee.

But one thing for sure is at least she has stuff lined up and will avoid the Oscar slump that so frequently happens when one wins that coveted Oscar. For women at least. Doesn't seem to affect men though.

  103. Before I get started:

*climbs ladder to roof of CDAN building, pushes door open in spite of snow piled against it, shovels path to water tower, turns on Iron Man signal*

OK...now, where was I? Oh, yeah...

A site I like to read a lot during movie awards season is Awards Daily; I've been following them since they were Oscar Watch back in the day, before AMPAS came after them and necessitated a name change, and overall I've enjoyed it a great deal. Even when I don't necessarily agree with the people who run the site and/or the commenters, it's still an interesting place to follow the long and winding road to Oscar. This year, though...oy...*holds throbbing head; goes in search of Advil*

A number of people were Really Not Happy with how the awards finally turned out, and I understand feeling that way; yes, there's definitely an issue with ageism and sexism in Hollywood, and that needs to change. Unfortunately, well...the discussion became a bit heated, and after reading enough of it, I finally felt compelled to get on my own soapbox:

    http://www.awardsdaily.com/blog/2013/02/25/old-white-guys-prefer-hot-young-babes/

Read some of the other Oscar-related threads if you want to get the full context of my rant; if you're a JLaw fan, though, you might want to pour a stiff drink or pop some Ambien first, because I'd rather not be responsible for anyone's blood pressure spikes. Anyway, I put in my rather-more-than-$.02-worth, so here's hoping I don't end up dodging too much abuse, eh? *sigh*

(Hi, Himmmm! Thought you might appreciate that I gave you a shout-out in the midst of my ranting, so I turned the light on for you...Oh, and you guys were all way too cute last night. :-)

  104. i think she's cute as a button. and i don't even like any of her films!!

  105. JL only won the Oscar because Harvey bribed and bullied a win for her. Dont' get me wrong, she does have talent but her role was nothing special. Actresses such as Kate Winslet or Reese Witherspoon could have played it in their sleep. Yes, she is popular thanks to the X-Men and Hunger Games franchise but let's face it, she hasn't had the sole reponsibility of carrying a film on her own. I feel that Selena will be a test of her star power, where she and not Brad will get top billing. If the film tanks, she will not doubt get the blame. BTW, was Bradley that po'd because she won that he couldn't have gotten up and helped her after she tripped? Thank goodness, Hugh Jackman was gracious enough to help her.
