Jennifer Aniston Thinks She Is Better Than Everyone

The reality of making a movie is there is usually one star that is a bigger star than everyone else. They get the best trailer. While they are living the life of luxury solo, there are people who are sharing a triple banger with two other people and grateful for the paycheck. The biggest star gets a nicer hotel or house to stay in and they have creature comforts that others don't. Radar is reporting that Jennifer Aniston is being a diva on the set of her latest movie that also co-stars Academy Award winner Tim Robbins and other actors including Isla Fisher and Will Forte. She refuses to eat with the other actors including Tom, Isla and Will and instead heads back to her trailer for meals while the other three eat with everyone and that Jen does not like to be approached by anyone. Maybe Jen is embarrassed because she knows she is not as good of an actress. Here is the thing. A lot of what they report happens on every set, but Jen is in no position to act like a diva because her movies all do terrible. She is box office poison. Although it is her reps that get her these special perks, it does mean she has to take advantage of them. She chooses to be on her own and be aloof. I guess she thinks she is better than everyone else. Or she likes to chain smoke and chug wine on her own and doesn't want anyone to see her. (Thanks Lisbeth)

Launching a big answer here to support your story, so that at least people who read on the mobile site can see it near the top of this already getting long thread...
What everyone needs t realize that meal time on a film/tv/photo/music set is a whole different thing that lunch at most any other kind of work. You are only on a project with the cast and crew for a limited time, whether it be days, weeks, or months. You are all supposed to be working together with all of your talents and skills to create a good successful project. Everyone is in it together. At the same time, you only have a limited time to do this, and also get to know each other. It always makes a better atmosphere when this happens.

Everyone is running around, doing there various jobs on various schedules to get things done (including the other actors on different call times). The ONE TIME of day where everyone can sit and socialize at the same level is meal time. It's the only "family" time. It's the one time where the actor can actually stop walking into one position all day, and walk up to the guy who has been running the cables under the actors feet during that time and say "thank you. good job. good teamwork". It's the one time the lighting person can tell the makeup person "I really like what you did there". It might be one of the only times that two actors can talk or hang out who don't actually have any scenes to film together, but just want to talk t be respectful or get to know each other.

There is even more social politics involved on multi levels, but I will save that for another day or story where that becomes more relevant. For now, just know that there is no "good or down to earth" reason to not eat mealtime with everyone.

Examples from some thoughts posted below - they can have any special food served by craft services. Lots of people have different diets or dietary restrictions and all manage to eat together on sets every day.

There are hours and hours of "alone time" for an actor during the day, while lights are being set, sets are being dressed, other actors are shooting scenes, etc. That one 30 to 60 window for is not necessary for that. It would be a purposeful snub to everyone to not partake at least some of the time.

I have seen some major actors sit and eat with the crew every day. It is just another sign that they are awesome people to work with...
I have seen some minor actors pull this diva crap and refuse to eat with anyone. This has always proven to be "tip of the nasty iceberg" that will show up in the future in my personal experience.

So there is my personal take on the socio political realities of it from the trenches.

    5. Wanted to also add this info from wahoowifey, as it's along the same lines:

I'm not saying it's "wrong" not to eat with everybody but believe me when I say if the actor isn't eating with everyone they KNOW how they are portraying themselves and who knows if they care or not. There are some who go out of their way to be more DTE so crew won't think they are not. I do always love the ones who are...I remember being shocked as to how DTE John Cusack was and very shocked how much Dana Delaney was not! "Who is she again?"

  3. I can't stand her. I don't know what it is, but I just can't with her. I've only seen 2 Jennifer Aniston movies: He's Just Not That Into You (because it's an ensemble), and Office Space (because it's amazing despite Jennifer Aniston's presence). Haven't ever seen anything else she's been in. She's like the acting equivalent of Nickelback for me; I want to throw up in my mouth a little when she's on screen

  5. I hope this isn't true. I never got the diva vibe from Jen, but who knows. I also don't think she's a bad actress. Is she Meryl Streep caliber? Of course not. But she's believable at playing certain characters, IMO.

  6. The story is NBD, I was just really surprised, because I never thought Jen would snub her co-stars at least. She seems so cool with her girlfriends, but not co-workers? It surprised me.

  8. They filmed a bunch of scenes in my hometown (Greenwich) and there was a day or two of filming at a friend of my brother's bar, and he said that they were all really nice, especially Jennifer. Maybe she was sucking up to them because she was afraid that some blue-collar guys would call her out for being a bitch?

I don't think she seems like -that- bad of a person (although she annoys the hell out of me), but she is Rachel in everything!! And before anyone throws Horrible Bosses out there, yeah, it was a little different, but a difficult role to play? Ha.

  35. This isn't really news. Back when I was employed *sigh* I often ate alone. Being stuck with the same people for 9 hours straight was enough to give me a migraine. I like all of my former co-workers and still talk to the majority of them often. Does Jennifer think she is better than everyone else...probably. I'm really sick of her hair. I don't see how she isn't going to have a problem with skin cancer when he gets older. She seems obsessed with having the perfect tan.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Aniston isn't box-office poison, but neither is she a real A-list slugger, despite trying real hard to achieve that status.

It's silly of her to not hang out with Robbins, Fisher and Forte simply because they're all way funnier than her and she could pick up pointers.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Altho I personally can't stand her, I don't think all her movies are box office poison. She has a ridiculously large fan club. And while she does seem to play the same type of role, she's good at it and at least has the talent to appear natural. However, movies like Horrible Bosses get high profits not because of her but because of her co-stars. If she was headlining a movie by herself it wouldn't do as well.

I remember the story about her and J Connelly, and how she had to be the star, above Connelly and didn't even want to be in the same photos. I think she is still trapped in Junior high, and can't be friends with any other woman who challenges her "beauty" and "talent". And she's still fixated on being young and sexy.

Re: Anne, there was an article in Slate that talked about how insufferable she is but explained it as her still being incredibly insecure. JA is probably the same. Except Anne is desperate to be recognized as a good actress but she's still clamoring to be seen as such, whereas JA is not noted as a great actress.

  38. Oh! Right after I posted I perused some other sites and her diva behavior is being reported elsewhere, can't wait for some RP retaliation!

  39. Doesn't she have problems with food? That can usually make people very nervous about eating around others( being judged by others and whatnot), everything seems likes she's introverted.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Maybe she's got morning sickness and needs to rest a lot. ;)

  41. I always eat at my desk and rarely join my coworkers when they do go out to places. I'm not anti-social, I just don't want to waste 1.5 hours of clocktime (and that's how long it always takes when people go off-campus for lunch).

If Aniston is being a nasty bitch to everyone she talks to, then, yeah. Cast shade her way. But I'd have to hear a lot worse about her than this for me to give a crap.

Libby, good job, though!! I long for the day when I can send in a tip, but the closest I ever was to a Hollywood star was when I was in Ireland and one of my best friends had Clint Eastwood and Leo DiCaprio filming in her house in Arlington, VA (for J. Edgar).

    ReplyDelete
  44. i don't buy the story on the food because she follows a specific diet prepared by some nutritionists since many years and she knows many of her co-stars since some years

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Baka Neko, that could have something to do with it. There have been days in my life where I chose not to eat because I couldn't bear to have someone see me walking to my desk with food. I felt like all eyes were on me and judging me anytime I did, no matter what kind of food it was, healthy or otherwise.

At those times, there's no way that I would have eaten lunch with people. In fact, I probably would make up something about why I wasn't eating: I was going to have an early dinner, I wasn't feeling well, I already ate something, etc. Anything not to let people see me eat.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous7:35 AM

I do not know if i would judge someone or being a diva just because they ate alone. Unless I was really close friends with someone on set i would probably eat alone. I would probably enjoy having time to relax, take a nap, read a book, check my emails and have quiet for an hour or however long they have. I go home at lunch and let my dogs out and eat there. I must be a diva

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anonymous7:43 AM

I don't care that she eats alone. I don't eat with my coworkers because I like the alone time and I don't like being scrutinized about what I eat (healthy "gross" stuff according to my co workers)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't think she is box office poison simply because she's never been treated like an A-list film actress with huge 20$ paychecks and backend deals. She's always been half the price of Reese and Julia when she was named highest paid actress it was because she did 3 or 4 movies in a year. She will always have a built in audience wherever Friends has syndicated. It does seem like she has been knocked down a notch from leading lady status to ensembles but lucky for her its improved the quality of her films now that she isnt carrying them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. If she doesn't make money for the studios, why do they continue to hire her? I have wondered this since she started making crappy flops in the mid 90's. Why? Doe anyone know the answer? It just doesn't make any sense.

  53. I'm with you Taffy..Loves me some Tim Robbins.

I'm one of those solo diners also. Love people but during the lunch day sometimes I just want to read my book and eat and not make conversation. It's just that on a set people do expect a bit more comraderie.

And when I did a lousy disease of the week movie even I got my own trailer and didn't share.

  55. I would be really surprised to find out this was true. She has a lot of celebrity friends.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I should add that I think she's not what the public thinks, but eating alone isn't that big a deal. Altho film casts are usually like a big family, sharing down time during breaks in filming. This eating alone might be because of her diet, doesn't she admittedly eat the same thing every day?

  57. CONSPIRACY THEORY: I still think that she’s preggo. She and her peeps are master manipulators. Those Mexican bikini vacation pix were supposed to be proof that she wasn’t PG, but we forget that they are all tiny little stick figures in La-La Land. If some b*tch is sporting protruding collar bones and pointy shoulder blades in a PHOTO, you know in real life she looks like the Crypt Keeper. If someone looks somewhat healthy but thin in PHOTO, in real life she’ll be skin and bones. Anniston isn’t Kristin Chenoweth “bag o’ bones” skinny, so a 2-3 month pregnancy on her would look like a normal gut to the rest of us.

All of those dresses she’s been wearing on Kimmel and another appearance since their vacation (can’t remember the show) had those horrible waist ruffles and this Oscar dress looks like another concealer. Were those Mexican vacation photos with REAL Margaritas? Did she drink at the Oscar parties? Did she go to her trailer to vomit and take folic acid on this latest movie? We’ll never know and we shouldn’t know if she’s PG until she’s out of the woods. So...I’m staying on the PG train.

As for her likeability issues: I think her annoyance factor in films has a lot to do with her whiny voice. She’s not classically trained so she can’t really control her voice/breath (and I don’t mean putting on weird accents), her characters all seem to blend together. I can’t even remember the names of each one, but her characters below all register as the same annoying girl:

The Break Up, She’s the One, Object of My Affection, That Jason Bateman movie where he switched his sperm, Picture Perfect, He’s Just Not That Into You, That movie w/ Steve Zahn, ‘Till There Was You, That movie with Adam Sandler, etc.

Along Came Polly was really Zoe Dechanel’s territory. Anniston was miscast. She was decent in The Good Girl because she was playing a beat-down woman in a dead-end job/miserable marriage, so her delivery was FLAT. Flat delivery means minimal nasal whining to grate on our ears. And she played opposite Jake. Yes, I agree with everyone that says her hair is always an un-credited character in her flicks. Every wisp is painstakingly placed to look windblown or bed-head. Ugh. They keep forgetting that most of her characters could not afford those type of highlights & lowlights. It’s distracting and disingenuous. God forbid if she threw caution to the wind and went with her natural curly/wavy locks for a character.

Yes, I also agree that Anniston is much better in an ensemble with seasoned actors doing the heavy lifting instead of her carrying an entire movie. Alec Baldwin finally figured that out by the time he did Glengarry Glenn Ross. Now he's finally the actor he THOUGHT he was back when he did Hunt for Red October.

  59. I have ALWAYS liked JA. Always. I even think she's cute in her dud movies. Don't know why. She's ALWAYS seemed down-to-earth to me and not at ALL like a diva.

Has anyone considered that maybe she's got some personal problems going on and it's not that she thinks that she's better than everyone else? Maybe a mood disorder? Anxiety? This stuff could make her just not want to be around others, period. Sure, I'm gonna be a cheerleader for her because I'm a fan, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.

And, as others have mentioned, I don't always want to eat with my coworkers, either.

  62. Eh, if she was such a terrible actress, and her movies all bombed, why does she keep getting hired? A few weeks ago there was an episode of Friends on, and my daughter sat down and said you know, she really is good on here, she has great comedic timing. Yes, I think she kinda plays the same role in every movie, but I don't think she is terrible.
And I can't fault her for eating her lunch by herself. I'm sure she is not the only one, by far.
Maybe she is reading the script and doesn't want to look unprepared, maybe she wants to smoke, maybe she doesn't particularly like someone that eats lunch with the "gang", maybe someone makes her uncomfortable. Why torture yourself just for image?

I'm not a huge Aniston fan but *loved* her in Office Space. Yeah, she was playing Rachel, but still, it cracked me up when she told the manager off. That movie kills me every time.

I think the key here is "refuses to eat with the other actors." Have you ever been to an office lunch? When I go on lunch break, I don't want to talk about anything to do with work. I want a nice, peaceful break because it's my time and I'm not getting paid and I love you all but I'll see at the office lunch next week. Bring your flair.

Here's thing from someone who has worked on several movie sets (I hate that it sounds like I'm bragging but I'm not I swear! Could care less about the excitement factor cuz truth is there really isn't one...Working in the biz is very overrated!) But there is a conversational thing on set where you can quickly tell who (actors) is down-to-earth and who isn't... and there are many tell-tale signs and all eating meals together as equals is one of them that ranks pretty high up there. Everybody is hyperaware what those signs are INCLUDING the actors. 72. I've also worked in films, and always going off on your own when every one else is together is telling, far more in an office. Like I said, sets are like family. So she knows the signal she's sending. If she was not being a diva she'd at least hang out sometimes. We know she's not shy - sometimes ultra shy people come off as bitchy. And lots of actors are shy which is why they bloom so well in a production which by its nature requires trust.

But you betcha today of tomorrow there will some PR going on and it's not going to be so openly obvious as a rebuttal to this but something that shows just how like us she really it!

I too like to grab any kind of alone time I can get. If I want to be around people, then its by choice and for a very small amount of time. i can't imagine having someone in your face putting on makeup, dabbing at you, brushing and styling your hair, holding clothes up to you, get out of my space! I would eat alone, but make sure to go over and say hi to the other actors, be friendly, make it clear that I don't think that I'm above anyone. Maybe eat with them a couple of times. Go Libby!! Good insider story. I'm a big fan of yours, you're our resident character, and I always love your posts! And thanks Wahoowifey for the set insider info. I am glad that she's somewhat normal looking, and comes off in her movies as down to earth. But keep in minds guys, Chelsea Handler is her best friend, the most obnoxious, caustic, drunken, bitchiest, annoying, judgemental, rude, distasteful, ill mannered, loudest, talentless, wretch ever to be on the t.v screen. How Anniston can stand to be around that shrieking crow of a woman escapes me, but she is apparently bestest bestest friends with her. Go figure.

They get along as besties, because they have enough similar personality traits. It's still amazing to me how many posters above continue to think that she is the "Girl Next Door" or "America's Sweetheart" type of person. On the level that she ca play that part in films/tv and apparently in interviews shows that in that one aspect she really is a great actress! lol.

  75. A friend of mine worked with Tim Robbins on a set years ago and said he was a big, moody jerk. This breaks my heart because I LOVE him for Shawshank alone. (This was pre-Shawshank.)

Jen is not thin. I mean she's petite but she doesn't look as if you desperately want to cram a sandwich down her throat in order to keep her alive another day. I think she adheres to a special diet so she probably goes to her trailer to gnaw on her greens and god only knows what else. Oh! bottles of Smart Water. And cigarettes. Can't forget those.

  79. I don't work in the industry. If to be a labeled a "good" person you have to eat with everyone, I'm glad I don't. Geeez. She may well be a bitch. Don't know. But this level of judgement is OTT.

  80. The fact that people think they need that sort of attention in a professional environment is disturbing.

Deal! We can all eat together, and I'll even let you two ladies get in line ahead of me!
(That's my favorite tell-tale sign of a really cool actor, or even higher up production person - when they get in line and wait their turn like everyone else. Such a small gesture says so much in that context. ;-)

  82. Who, bri? Tim Robbins? I feel like I've heard that, too. Sounds like Mango got similar info as well. Bummer. Guess Susan's better off now, maybe, huh?

Again, I'm with caralw. This whole won't-eat-with-everybody thing seems nitpicky to me.

And I'm still gonna stand by my possible theory of some kind of emotional/mental issues making her not want to be social. A lot of folks with any kind of MI, whether ongoing or temporary, seem moody, antisocial, snobby, diva-like...and they don't mean to seem like that. Judge not lest...well, you know the rest. :-)

  83. Yeah, here's the thing. If someone said Actress X or Y deliberately insulted AN extra or runner, I would get it. But just not hanging out eating lunch? I'm afraid not. Hey, would it be nice? Sure. Is it a crime or an indication of character? Eh, that's a huge stretch. I can promise that outer appearances of being nice are just that. Outer appearances. You can be the biggest ass kisser in public and stab someone in the back when nobody is watching.

  87. Jen has always been known for only being friendly to the people in her little circle. No surprise here. She has the mentality of a seventh grader who only wants to sit with the cool people, and if she gets stuck next to a "nerd" she will keep rolling her eyes and sighing loudly.

That red dress looked like a dress for a Barbie in the 1980s. I've never gotten the appeal of those big prom-ish ball gown dresses. At best you look dated, and at worst you trip and eat floor like Jennifer Lawrence.

  88. I don't know Jen, but I met Courtney Cox and she still loves Jen. Or so she claimed (without prodding). Courtney is a sweetheart. Or acts like one. Who is to know unless you have personal experience working with either?

  89. It's not uncommon for actors to go back o their trailers during meal break. There is little to no chance her trailer was parked "miles away". Cities wouldn't approve filming and location permits for that nonsense. They want the projects contained within a small radius, including the trailers and crafter services.

    This is just BS.

  90. I'm no fan of hers by any stretch. She reminds me of the few (thankfully) snobby, catty women that I've known. They're intolerable. That being said, I can't imagine being held to the expectations laid out for these celebs. They are sky high. I think people feel this way about her because her onscreen persona seems so relatable that people expect her to be the same off screen too. They expect her to act like everyone's best friend and are surprised when she's anything but that.

Even though by nature I'm outgoing, I would be freaked out if I had to eat lunch with people that I know have swinging opinions of me based on what they read in the tabloids or saw on tv (with most of it being negative).

From what I've read thus far, it seems like celebs are being asked to make up for the extreme class differences by socializing with everyone else. I'm not sure what to think about that. Part of me thinks it's unnecessary and part of me thinks that if this is the nature of the business then JA knew what she was signing up for. It's a weird hand in hand relationship because if she doesn't do it then she knows that the crew will go on gossip sites and write negative things about her. Then she'll have to pay people to undo the damage. And honestly, she could avoid this if she would be more sociable to everyone. A smile can go a long way. It's so much cheaper than a PR team.

  91. Oh, and BTW, isn't she Hollywood "royalty"? Aren't her family members actors? Add to that her marriage to Brad Pitt and other friendships. Plus the Plan B production company. This is how she's stated afloat.

  92. In spite of this I'd still like to bang her for about two hours straight.
