Geraldo Rivera Running For US Senate
I had to check my calendar and make sure that it was not April 1 instead of February 1 when I saw the news that Geraldo Rivera is going to run for US Senator from new Jersey. yes, the man who once gave Jerry Springer a run for his money and opened Al Capone's empty vault on national television and now just says whatever is on his mind whether it is true or not is going to run for US Senate. Geraldo? I guess he can say he has been in battle. Not military battles, but there was the one time his guest or audience member punched him and broke his nose. Oh, there was the time back in 1985 when ABC fired him because his assistant bought pot for Geraldo using a company courier. He bragged about how he cheated on all of his wives so that should make him the perfect politician. When his third wife was in the hospital giving birth, Geraldo called two ex-girlfriends and they spent the entire time his wife was in the hospital having sex. He also said it was a requirement for any woman who worked for him to also have sex with him.
I thought it was a chair that was thrown that broke his nose.
ReplyDelete@FSP - that sounds right - impressive recall, sir.
DeleteI thought it was a chair too. Too bad the chair didn't knock any sense into him!!!
DeleteHe's such a slimeball... He's a shoe-in!!
ReplyDeleteI guess stranger, or at least as strange, things have happened in politics before. Jesse Ventura, Arnold Swarzenegger, or Ronnie Reagan, anyone?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Geraldo figures he's a shoe-in because all of his skeletons are already out of the closet - he's got 'em flapping around in the trees in his front yard like Halloween decorations.
What a douche- he's sure to go far!!!
ReplyDeleteConsidering Sen. Bob Menedez is in the hot seat right now for similar indiscretions, I say he'll fit right in.
ReplyDeleteThat's it. I give up.
ReplyDeleteI always like to pronounce the G in Geraldo, because I love Flea's cameo in "The Chase" :)
ReplyDeleteYou know Jerry Springer, host of trashy tv? He's a former politician and extremely intelligent. Al Franken is a successful politician, as is former wrestler Jesse Ventura.
ReplyDeleteStranger things have happened.
(BTW, the link above is to Cracked's article, "6 Celebrities Who Are Way Smarter than You Think." Interesting read.)
Just what we need.. another crackpot running for political office. I give up too.
ReplyDeleteEntward, he's "considering" a run for a US Senate seat from New Jersey in 2014. Wow, please get better entities.
ReplyDelete@Fru - the halloween decorations flapping is a GREAT visual!
ReplyDeleteNon-stop lolz.
ReplyDeleteI won't be voting for him..
ReplyDeleteI thought the time he gave away our military strategy by writing it on the sand on camera was his biggest fuck up. I hope I'm remembering that right.
ReplyDeleteHe's a fool, therefore he'll probably get elected!
@Em - why, thank you, ma'am :-). Here in the Sooner State, my Halloween ghosties are forever flying off my trees; the wind really does come sweeping down the plain!
ReplyDeleteToo bad he isn't running in Minnesota. He'd probably win, considering we had Jesse The Body as Governor.
ReplyDeleteThis guy has some ego!! He makes trump look demure.
ReplyDeleteHehee. I love the pics Enty chooses for these stories.
ReplyDelete@Amber - I'm still cracking up over your "grip tests" comment yesterday. You crazy!
ReplyDeleteI think Geraldo's a little hottie, but I don't think I would want him in office.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he will open the US vault to uncover wealth that we didn't know we had.
ReplyDeleteOh, right.
@FSP - hahaha! Sometimes things pop in my head and I have to say them.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember when Geraldo was sort of a respected journalist, or are you guys too young to recall that?
ReplyDelete@VIP. I, too, pronounce the G in Geraldo. lol I thought I was the only one!
I do---young 'uns should google Willowbrook and see the difference that Geraldo made. He wasa great activist reporter.
DeleteI still laugh when I think about him getting hit with that chair. His reaction is priceless.
ReplyDeleteVIP and Reeses count me as a member of that club, I don't think I have ever said it the proper way.

ReplyDeleteA few years ago, Hurricane Ike wiped out Galveston Island, Texas, where I live. Geraldo was here reporting on it, among other major news networks. Live on air, he got completely wiped out by the waves... just a funny clip. Any time I see anything about Geraldo, I have a good laugh. Happy Friday Cdaners :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FziScjyf4Ic
ReplyDeleteI assume he'll be doing most of his electioneering on Fox "News."
ReplyDeleteIn short, the quintessential politician for this day and age.
ReplyDeleteSeachica, LOL but with tears as well.
ReplyDeleteI met him twice in SoFla, he had a self depracating sense of humour.
ReplyDelete@Connie151: If he runs, he will have to leave the air or FNC will have to give equal time to his opponents.
ReplyDeleteI think he will run - and probably win!
Yeah Amber? Well in CA we had the Govenator! So our crazy trumps your crazy. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love when people get frustrated with government and decide to become part of the problem. They think they can fix it within and find out something very, very dfferent.
Sherry, we have seen that happen first hand in Australia. We had a group called Midnight Oil, very political, bagged the government. The lead singer, Peter Garrett, goes into politics & discovers that you can't just fix things because of the behemoth surrounding you. I never liked their music & I thought in some ways he got his just desserts. He would have been more effective continuing to agitate outside the political realm.
DeleteIt was a chair, which should have been bronzed. Enty, you make a lot of money from this site, a little fact checking wouldn't hurt. Plus, it was a glorious sight to behold and I remember the news shows repeating it constantly. It was wonderful to see newscasters trying not to look gleeful and be professional!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he the one who was kicked out of Iraq during the ground war in 2002 because he was live on the air drawing troop movements in the sand that pissed off the military because they were afraid the enemy was watching? He's a schmuck. I remember watching that Al Capone's vault thing too. You'd think he would have checked first.
ReplyDeleteOH GOD NO!!!!!!! I know a girl who dated him for 4 years. He dumped her for his wife.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever meet him, just call him Jerry Rivers.
ReplyDeleteHe'll go apeshit on you!
Isn't Jerry Rivers his real name? I thought he did the "I'm Hispanic" thing for ratings.
ReplyDeleteAt least with him you know where his skeletons are buried. There really is nothing to "out" him on except being a Republican.
I want to know about his feud with my fave, John Stossel, why do they hate each other so much? I miss the days when they were on 20/20 with Hugh Downs.
Attention whore
ReplyDeleteSince he's a total slimeball he will win in a landslide. He will fit right in with all the other cheaters liars and douchbags already in public office.
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather was being interviewed by Geraldo once and he said he was such an asshole that my grandfather stood up and walked out in the middle. Needless to say, it didn't air...
ReplyDeleteI was listening to CNN on the radio the other day when they announced this and all of the news anchors couldn't stop laughing.
ReplyDelete@erin - YES!! I was actually coming to comment that Enty should have posted that video for this post! That video made me laugh a lot in watching all the super scary/depressing Katrina coverage.
