Extended Version of Budweiser Commercial

I actually liked four commercials last night during the game. Tide, Mercedes, Samsung and Budweiser. If I had to choose just one though, it would be the Budweiser one. here is the extended version. I think the Stevie Nicks song is probably what puts it over the top for everyone.

    1. Lmao it was not! I thought it was so beautiful and moving. My sis in law and brother thought I was crazy lol. I think that one and the taco bell one with the old people getting loose were my favs of the night

    2. Where's Shelly, I just watched it at work, have the tissue out, dabbing the eyes.

  2. @Where'sShelly Not just you! I totally cried, and hugged my dog a little closer :)

  3. @Where's Shelly?, I cried when I watched it...and then I cried again when we rewound for my fiance to see. I'm pretty sure that I could see this commercial 100 times and still get misty.

  4. I found the Clydesdale commercial too fake. I really got a lump in my throat during the Ram "I Am a Farmer" or whatever commercial.

    1. It was "So God Made a Farmer" and the audio was a Paul Harvey speech. Loved it

  5. Thanks to the Puppy Bowl, Sandy Hook choir, National Anthem and the Clydesdales, I cried a lot yesterday.

  6. Was anyone else put off by the Audi commercial?

I thought it was sexist. The father gave the boy and wink and said have fun and then boy basically forced himself on a girl he’s been lusting after. AND the girl didn’t defend herself, her boyfriend defended her “honor” by punching the guy.

The underlying message of that ad: “Get an Audi and do what you want with the woman of your choice”, was offensive.

    1. I was put off by Audi too, for the same reasons you were. I hate commercials where women are treated as objects like that.

The Audi commercial was the best, hands down; the one with the kid taking his Dad's car to prom.

It was also great to hear Paul Harvey again.

The rest pretty much sucked ass.

@Audrey: Relax. It was all about confidence. If you're attracted to the milquetoast type, cool. Some chicks dig a dude with some swagger.

I really loved the Jeep/USO commercial, but that's probably because we've been through way too many deployments! It definitely struck a chord and I was appreciative of the commercial's gentle reminder.

    1. @Michelle, that was hands down my favorite. Jeeps commercials always have a way with making you feel a great sense of American pride.

Taco Bell one was awesome but I didn't really like the Samsung commercial with Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd. It was not as funny as one would think it would be.

  10. That Go Daddy spot with the hot model & the not so hot dude grossed me out so much I threw my nachos in the wastebin. Just no.

  11. I felt the Clydesdale commercial was a blatant rip off of Christian the Lion video. So it made it not so weepy for me.

The I am a Farmer was amazing..didn't see the Audi one but it sounds gross.

Overall it was a lame year for commercials. Step it up Madison Avenue.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Kind of hard to ask Madison Avenue to step up since most ads get butchered by clients before they make it on air

  12. @ Schmucky - I'm relaxed, I just asked the question. ;)

  13. I thought the Audi one was funny. It wouldn't have been funny or cool if the girl had been upset that the guy kissed her, but she looked dazed/impressed.

  15. Okay back to this commercial..Yes it made me cry too. It reminded me of this: My friends and neighbors in the country have a dog named Woody. He's a black lab and he's 13 and healthy as can be..But he has been waylaid with a foot injury and is limping when he walks. He used to be up and running everywhere. I go visit and Woodrow is laying down and I'm talking to everyone...He gets up and comes directly to me and lays his head on my lap and nuzzles me for about 5 minutes. I was so very, very touched. Love that dog! So moral of story..yes animals remember who you are.

  16. Ahhhh LOVED the Budweiser commercial and I DID get misty eyed too...love horsies! :)

  17. I thought the first coke commercial was the best.

  18. Aw, I just teared up! I dont know how I missed this one. I liked the Tide one & the Taco Bell old folks commercials the best.

  19. re: Audi
To me, it felt like the end of a John Hughes movie sort of shrunken down to commercial length. Made me nostalgic for Jake Ryan!

    ReplyDelete
  20. We played "commercial bingo" and I could NOT believe there wasn't a single flippin' pizza commercial the whole time! And the Ram Truck one came pretty late. And no drug commercials either!

By far the weirdest wtf?!?!? commercial was the one for Scientology! None of us saw that one coming. The VW Beetle one with all the Rasta- sounding dudes was pretty darn funny!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous9:17 AM

@ Audrey- Fair enough. In that case, no.

    ReplyDelete
  22. After watching the Audi spot I concur with VIP, very 80s John Hughes.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I teared up during this commercial, but I'm pregnant and I cry a lot. I also grew up with horses so I'm sensitive about them. My favorite commercial was the Pizza Hut commercial where the dog is playing quarterback and barks for his owner to snap the ball.

  24. I agree with timebob -- it was one of the worst years for commercials that I can remember. The only ones I really liked were the Budweiser Clydesdale and Taco Bell ones. Otherwise, it was like a bad SNL episode -- lots of skits that tried too hard, without getting any laughs.

  25. The Calvin Klein commercial was nothing short of art. Certainly made me squirm.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, very artistic, certainly my favorite...for the artistic value of course

  26. Cried my eyes out! And I also loved 'And God made a farmer'

  27. My summation last night was that the Ram commercial was the best, the Go Daddy commercial was the most disgusting, and the Samsung commercial was the most disappointingly boring.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah the Samsung commercial sucked. Can't fucking stand the dude with Paul Rudd.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, I loved the commercial. I cried yesterday when I saw it and cried again just watching it now.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Loved the Budweiser commercial and yes it made my cry :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks for making me cry on a MONDAY, Enty.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was totally going to make fun of you sentimental fools for crying at a beer commercial.

    Then I watched it.

I agree, the song just put it over. I was sure it was going to be him comforting his old horse in its dying days, but they pulled a fast one.

  33. Evidence in my case is the Christian the Lion youtube video if you haven't seen it yet. You really will get weepy.

  34. I thought the Taco Bell ads with the senior citizens kickin' it out on the town was great.

Other than that, meh. Even with Stevie Nicks.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well I just went and watched the Audi commercial and I didn't think it was that bad. Guess it's your perception.

Off to watch the Taco Bell Ads..

    ReplyDelete
  36. I had to google Christian the Lion - the video just looked like young zookeepers having fun with one of their charges. Interesting story!

I'd hazard a guess that the people in charge of the commercial have some vague memory of the Christian the Lion video and the "lost dog travels 400 miles to find home" kind of stories, and worked them into the commercial. The lion was quite a bit before my time, but I remember Milo & Otis.

  37. I didn't see the Scientology commercial. I have to watch the game again when my man gets home so I will keep another eye open. I agree this year was pretty good. A little to sexed up, coming from a 25 year old chic, especially that godaddy ad. They had another godaddy ad with couples that I thought was much more funny.

  38. Ok, I am about to give birth any day and super hormonal...but that made the tears come!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I loved the Budwiser one. After that, the Taco Bell, Doritos goat, and the Benz one were great (the Benz one is much better in the extended cut).

    ReplyDelete
  40. The goat one was the only one that literally made me lol...When the goat is on, like, bag 200 (crunch...crunch...crunch) and the guy is lying in bed wanting to die... Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I got a lil teary but only because it was black beauty condensed to two minutes and I loved Black Beauty.

Also, for real? You guys liked that i am farmer commercial? I was like WTF? Bored the shit out of me..

    ReplyDelete
  42. Okay I just saw the GoDaddy ad everyone said was creepy..Ugh! Just ugh!

The story of Christian the lion is that these guys buy him at Harrods Dept store back in the swinging 60's and realize that they must release him to a zoo or the wild. They get him into a lion sanctuary in Africa and the jumping on them at then end is when they come back a year or so later and he remembers them.

  43. Stevie Nicks makes everything better.

I also really liked the Ram/Farmer one with the Paul Harvey V/O.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh boy, umm yes I may be hormonal right now, but that got the tear ducts working.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @Onyx, I didn't care about the commercial, it was just pure nostalgia for me. My grandparents loved Paul Harvey and he was part of my childhood.

Here's the scoop on the $cio commercials. They only aired in major markets, so if you live in Podunkville, like we apparently do, you wouldn't've see it. Video at the bottom, after the "written by change-makers" text. My favorite:

"You're powerful beyond measure and the fuel of that power is not magic or mysticism, but knowledge."

That we are gods created by aliens is apparently "knowledge" and not magic or mysticism. Thoughts to chew on a rainy Monday morning...

can't believe I just lost my shit at my desk to a beer commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  50. OMG, I cried. I hate when commercials do that!

    ReplyDelete
  51. The folks at Budweiser have no clue how to make a beer worth drinking, but they sure are marketing geniuses.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Absolutely true Count..The beer sucks ass.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Aaaaaw.

But what does it have to do with mediocre beer?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I bawled big ole crocodile tears.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Has no one seen Amy Poehler's Best Buy commercial? It was hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I know everyone thinks the ads, for the most part sucked, but if you knew how much went into making them you might change your mind. Months are spent trying to come up with an idea, put it to paper etc and then almost every client tears it apart. More frustrating than you can possibly imagine. Then add in most of the country's watching and nitpicking...very tough job

  57. To all regarding misty comments .. TOTALLY! I was sitting on my couch thinking .. "Holy crap .. I am about to have a crying fit over a Bud commercial!"

God damned Stevie Nicks and her god damned "Landslide" .. I will not even speak about what happens just THINKING about the ending of the "You're Just Getting Old" episode of South Park!

That song just kills me. You could be showing me pictures of rainbows and soap bubbles .. won't matter .. tears.

  58. @CrazyCatLady clearly you work in advertising of some sort, and it was just meant as a joke. I'm sure everyone works very hard on these ads and we are just goofing on them, hits a nerve with you.

So don't worry there were some home runs this year, don't focus on all the negative.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Taco Bell. Those folks will end up in a new sitcom. The only commercial that ever got me misty was the Bud commercial in honor of Sept 11.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I love this commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @count lol you reminded me of a joke..why's american beer like having sex in a canoe?

    It's fucking close to water.

    ReplyDelete
  62. CrazyCatLady- I kindly disagree that you think we don't appreciate them. There were actually only one or two commercials I didn't really care for but otherwise they were all very well produced. :) as I have said my very least favorite was the making out godaddy ad, the other one was cute with the old couples.

  63. Sam Adams is a good beer!

  64. I cried too, luckily I was at home. I hope he took the horsey back home - that'll teach him for selling it!

  65. Comment of the day, from Stephen Colbert: (paraphrased)

"Everyone got all upset about the commercial with the model kissing the nerd, but no one cared about the one with the guy who's fucking his horse?"

  66. LOL @ Mooshki - Glad I came back to this item and saw your comment!
