Britney Spears is Headed To Vegas
Larry Rudolph is Britney Spears' manager. He told Extra that Britney is definitely headed to Vegas for a long term gig, but that two hotels are currently fighting to see who gets to pay her lots of money. Not Celine Dion money though. Celine will still be the highest paid entertainer in Vegas. The reasoning? Although Britney's fans will pay the same ticket prices as Celine and will probably see the show even more frequently, they are not considered people who will spend a lot of money in the casino after. That is how the casino makes their money back. Apparently they think Britney Spears fans will stay 8 to a room somewhere at a Motel 6 and go see the show and leave and won't think about hitting those tables with the increased minimums that you have to walk past when leaving a show.
This could be so good for her. Vegas transformed Suzanne Sommers from a t.v. actress to a multimillionaire with a fleet of airplanes. (Sommer's AFTER THE FALL tell the story of that.) I hope that Brit banks some serious cash in the next few years and gets a house and a life that allows her to raise her kids and have fun and do things she wants to do. Love that chick.
ReplyDeleteThey are probably right about that. I guess this is better than hauling her off on another world tour.
ReplyDeleteWhat she really needs is some horses and four wheelers on a big plot of land and to be left alone to eat cracklins and orange Crush for the rest of her life.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this @JSierra, I thought that her & Levi Johnston would be the perfect couple.
DeleteYou are so funny, and speak such truth lol
DeleteI'm pretty excited about this! Cheetos for everyone!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's good for her in the sense that she can bank vault plenty of money to take care of her, whatever state she is in. But I think it's going to be too much for her. The pace, the schedule, the bright flashing lights, otherworldliness of Vegas. I've always felt it's like being on a party planet. The moonlike landscape, freak weather, so hot and dry, flashing lights promising riches to blue hairs, wherever you go it's just girls dressed skanky with their friends woo wooing while the one in the 2 dollar bridal veil stumbles drunkenly through the slot aisles, bored listless dealers, weak drinks, and jaded patrons. It's not my thing, but if she finds some happiness then more power to her. I hope she can make a life for herself.
ReplyDeleteI hope that she'll be happy being able to perform regularly without the added stress of getting from tour date to tour date.
ReplyDelete@Barton I have that book. I really loved her first one too. Crazy as she's become, she's a really good writer.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Brit will do well in Vegas. It's a great fit for her if they can liven the show up since she can't really dance anymore.
Britney is already a multimillionaire. I know her father manages her money, but she's not hurting in that department. I also think it would be ridiculous to charge the same price as Celine Dion simply because Celine has actual talent. I don't wish ill on Britney, I just really don't see what people see in her.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking this could be good for her, but then I read Where's Shelly's comment. :/ I wish her the very best, though.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for Brit Brit. This will be a good thing for her and the kids, she can still perform and they can have a sense of stability.
ReplyDeleteI will go and see her because I think she's actually worked hard for a comeback and wants to be 'normal' (some shade at Lohan) but I heard that she hasn't been a good performer lately - she doesn't really dance much, sings only part of the time, and her meds are making her foggy and slow. I'm surprised this deal is happening as a result? Maybe she's been working at putting a routine together that justifies her salary. Good for her, I hope it works out and that she can think about relaxing and retiring when it's done.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more about keeping her busy than the money at this point. I'm hopeful that she'll be able to work at a less frantic/stressful pace that will allow her to develop outside interests, which will lead to her finally being able to retire and fill her time with something other than Starbucks runs.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for her. She needs the stability! I'll go see her and drag my husband. We won't, however, be staying at Motel 6. The casinos are right about not gambling. I would rather spend my money on food.
ReplyDeleteI will be there - with girl friends - and we will not be at the Motel 6. I cannot wait for this to start.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad for Britney. Maybe she will finally get some peace. She won't have to tour. Her fan base is younger, naturally.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be in Vegas next month. Too bad this won't be ready by then :(
ReplyDeleteI wonder what her act will become and who will be her audience.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise I'm with Shelly. Vegas is a sad place.
I think it's a great move for her. And while Celine Dion is so not my cup of tea, I could understand why she pulls in a bigger paycheck than Britney. Professionalism alone would put Celine on a higher tier than dear old Britney.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Vegas. Every time me and The Hubs considered going, we weighed the pros and cons of other places - Aruba, Paris - and chose the other places. And now we have a toddler, so we go nowhere. And actually, I'm feeling hella nauseous this morning and am wondering if there is a No. 2 bambino popping up in my achy old-ass body. Looks like I'll be one of those blue hairs on a bus tour by the time I get to Vegas.
They wouldn't be wrong. I think this can make some quick cash for her but I don't see it working out long term. I wouldn't pay a lot of money to see an entertainer lip synch.
ReplyDelete@Susan - Vegas is really fun, and it's easy to avoid the nasty places. Any of the Cirque du Soleils are incredible, and there is an endless selection of fantastic restaurants. If you're patient, you can get really good deals at really nice places like Aria, Wynn, etc. 2 years ago I stayed at Encore, and when I was gambling there the complimentary drinks were top shelf (grey goose, etc). I drank champagne on the house for hours, and I am by NO means a high roller ($10 blackjack table). The spas are all fantastic, and the pool areas are huge with attentive wait staff. You really don't need more than 2 nights there, so dump the kidlets off on granny and head out there at least once. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww. Thanks for the advice, Amber. It sounds like a fab time. Just need to muster the strength to cut the cord and leave the kid with his adoring grandparents for more than 1 night.
ReplyDeleteIf this what Brit Brit truly wants then Im dowm. I mean I won't have money to visits I support by watching on utube.
ReplyDelete@Where's Shelly - you said "...while the one in the 2 dollar bridal veil stumbles drunkenly through the slot aisles..."
ReplyDeleteI think Brit'll be just fine, after all she already did what you describe years ago...
Yep. Spears's fans are definitely down-market with not a lot of money to spend. Las Vegas hotel showrooms factor ALL of this into who and how much they pay for performing residences.
ReplyDeleteSo Britney's fans might strain their Capital One cards for tickets and the drink minmums, but then they'll hightail it to Denny's or In N Out afterward before going back to the offstrip Motel 6. No gambling other than nickel or quarter slots. No return there.
This could be great for Britney if the show is well planned and rehearsed. She could live in a very nice place well away from the Strip and be driven in to her shows. It could be very good.
ReplyDeleteI live in Las Vegas and trust me you can party as high class or low down as you choose. Or like ourselves you can live in a lovely neighborhood and never visit downtown unless you have company.
The locals casino's are a huge business here as well, better odds on all the games, no drunk screaming frat boys and girls and a safe convivial atmosphere.
I'd go see Britney in Vegas. My first time there my options were Rod Stewart and Garth Brooks. i would happily have chosen Brit. And my husband could then go and try and win back the money spent on her tickets. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhich two hotels are fighting over her?
I go back and forth between thinking Britney should be left to retire to some quiet place and keeping her performing makes her happy.
ReplyDeleteHer parents got it together enough to save her life. Literally. I do not think she would have made it much longer with the head shaving, umbrella assaulting, pap luring antics. So I tend to think that Jamie isn't some svengali rubbing his hands together and mwuhahaha-ing every time he pushes his gravy train into a new contract. I think he has a daughter battling some serious issues and he's doing his best to make sure she keeps it together. The Trawick thing might have been a good idea at one time, but then everyone realized it just couldn't be. The X Factor was alright for a bit, but maybe it was unsatisfying for her to see other people living out their dreams. She's a born performer who has known almost nothing else since she was a little kid. Getting out on stage every night may seem like grueling servitude to you and me, but it may very well be her idea of stability and therapy.
I really agree, @nomnom. This is a broad based agreement, but especially the stuff about her Dad. I always got the impression of a good father standing up to help.
Deletethis, imho, will only work if britney becomes a top caliber performer again. she doesn't have the vocal prowess of a christina or mariah, and has always depended on heavy (and excellent) production and choreography to make her a stand-out. this is a formula that works for her. combine it w/ her mediocre voice and dancing skills of old, and you've got a GREAT show.
ReplyDeletething is, she's been phoning it in (performance-wise) for years, and should that continue, her contract will be cut really short, really quickly once the honeymoon period of britney in vegas wears off. she needs to get back to the top of her game to have a successful run. her demo doesn't want a mariah that'll walk back and forth on a stage gesticulating. they want a show-SHOW, and i'm not so sure that britney can bring it at this point. i'm sure the production value alone will cover a multitude of sins, but if they rush her into this, as they did w/ her last two tours, it'll be a recipe for disaster.
The other reason that Celine should get more money is that she can actually sing.
ReplyDeleteBrit will probably put on an entertaining show but I don't think people are coming for her voice.
I would go if i had won the tickets or didnt have to pay for it. I refuse to pay for a lip synching performer. But i do like Brit!
ReplyDeleteIf they make a deal with BritBrit to hang out at their clubs/pool, she could still top Celine's money. Having the right people at the elite clubs is what the new Vegas is all about.
ReplyDeleteI wanna go cuz it would be outrageous! I would gamble and drink maybe I'll be lucky.. Ha! :-D
ReplyDeleteHer handlers are going to have to crush her pills in her food. I think Vegas will be too much for her.
ReplyDeleteIf she lived for performing, why s it she looks terrified every time she s in public?
ReplyDeleteI don t think Vegas is a good idea for her well being. Maybe she could just try a normal life in a normal place? C est tout le mal que je lui souhaite...
