Blind Item #3

This A+ list all movie actor was at one of the top 10 restaurants in the world this week. Until he was recognized by someone they were not going to let him in because of what he was wearing. When they did let him in and he ordered he said that he wanted a cheeseburger and a milkshake and nothing else. His wife did not even seem phased by his outburst and ordered off the menu and didn't cause any scene.

  2. It's "fazed" not "phased". And I wonder what the top 10 are. Don't much are who he is, an idiot, obviously.

    1. @Carol...people make that mistake all of the time and it annoys the hell out of me.

Unless you are part of a Star Trek crew, it is highly unlikely you have ever been "phased".

    1. @VIPblonde, Marky Mark makes sense, doesn't he have that hamburger restaurant with his brother?

  5. Top 10 by whose standards? Because if this is something like El Bulli, I refuse to believe the chef would cater to this asshole by creating a burger and milkshake. If, however, this is top 10 as in "big name but not really all that" -- something like The Ivy in London -- then I believe it.

What A+ list movie actor is married and an asshole? Tommy boy and Sean Penn are single. So is George C. Will Smith?

It has to be John Revolta, he loves his cheeburgers!

  7. So what, Brad wanted a cheeseburger? Where's the scandal? I doubt this actually happened--the trope of the "uncultured American" ordering cheeseburgers in fancy restaurants is old hat. In the movies, a chef shrugs Gallically and then grinds up a steak to make a cheeseburger...which makes for a great joke, but have you ever had a cheeseburger made out of ground-up prime steak? Awesome!

  8. Well what was his wife supposed to do? Scold him publicly as if he were a child?

Sounds like the guy doesn't care too much about food, but was just going to a restaurant his wife wanted to try.

  9. The "scandal", minor as it is, is that an actor used his celebrity status to get favors a typical customer would not get at such a restaurant.

And I think the last sentence is supposed to indicate that the wife ordered from the menu, not off the menu. Off the menu ordering is what the actor did.

John Revolta using his celebrity status to get "favors." Huh-huh, huh-huh. Did that chee-burger come with a happy ending?

  11. If, however, this is top 10 as in "big name but not really all that" -- something like The Ivy in London -- then I believe it.

Except the Ivy does already serve a hamburger on their a la carte menu, so it wouldn't be that big a deal that he should ask for a cheeseburger. (Milkshake may be another story.) Hm.

  12. Cheeseburger and milkshake......

    Daniel Day-Lewis!!

  13. It's not specific enough but he doesn't mention the wife being a celebrity so that could be a clue.

I could see Marky Mark doing this. None of the other A lister seem like they'd do this. Maybe Al Pacino, if the cooky/crazy blinds are really about him. Mark's snotty and self important enough to do this.

  15. I ordered Chateaubriand at a McDonald's & the fry cook threw a fit. I still don't know what his problem was that day.

  17. It's obviously Wahlberg.

    However...

    - both restaurants named in the DM are far from being in the world Top 10. These are just overhyped French restaurants or bar, but I hadn't heard of them and I've been living in Paris for two decades... So maybe, it was a third one (which had its name redacted in the article)

    - I don't see Wahlberg picking a prestige restaurant to haz cheezburger there dressing casual (and I don't think both restaurants named would have refused to let him in with such clothes). It's more likely that somebody asked him to have dinner in the capital of cuisine (most likely the missus) and that he wasn't interested in that, so he just asked for a cheeseburger.

I think this is Marky Mark in Paris.

Wahlberg's a workout weightlifter type. I see him ordering an iceberg wedge, two pounds of lean ground beef medium well, and a lemon water.

Just read the Daily Mail article. What a douche. I thought he'd grown up since the funky bunch, stuff my tightie whities, wanna be bad boy days. You mean to tell me he couldn't throw on some khakis and a nice shirt once in his life? Puh-leeze.

  22. I think the scandale! is that he ordered American food in a restaurant in Paris.

    LazyDay..hilarious!

  24. LOL Wahlberg and his wife are in DM today for a romantic dinner at Paris
BUT this blind item is untrue
1/L'ami Louis is NOT one of top 10 restaurants in the world: it's only one of most famous brasserie in Paris( french pub with traditional french cooking) L'ami Louis
2/ Walhberg goes to eat in this restaurant everytime that he's at Paris and he never eat/asked american food
3/My cousin works in l'Ami Louis (i yet said it here ) since some years and i just send him this story and he's LMFAO
4/ Walhberg also lunched at the restaurant Avenue so maybe it was there but not at L'Ami Louis

  25. I hate that I love Boardwalk Empire so much and that Marky Mark is an executive producer on it. He is the one that brought Scorsee in and to direct the pilot. UGH such a corundum.

A great restaurant can make anything on the spot. He was just being a shit for not being recognized.

  26. Where's the scandal? The guy just said he wanted a Cheeseburger. Why is that considered an outburst. Enty did you leave out part of the story b/c this one isn't worth sharing.

I'm sticking with my initial John Revolta guess. I recall him on Oprah when he said he'd want his last meal to be a Chee-burger and a milkshake.

Is RDJ bulking up for his next project? He said he just ate cheeseburgers and milkshakes for Tropic Thunder. I wouldn't mind either, if I were his wife.

  29. If it was Marky Mark, he didn't look that bad--maybe it was just that he wasn't wearing a tie?

  30. Thanks for the debunking French Girl..So I obviously haven't got it if my guess is Marky Mark..Where has John Travolta been lately?

Here's another question...If it was a top 10 in the world restaurant you'd have to be pretty sure they had the ingredients on hand. El Bulli is closed but I doubt very seriously Noma has beef to grind into a burger or cheese for that matter. Per Se may be able to do it..

Could this be a made up blind?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Marky Mark can easily open a movie on his name, and he is a big money-maker. He's definitely A+, although that doesn't make him any less of a douche.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The chef made him the cheeseburger, because he did not want to get beat up over eat.

  37. @Ima Guillotine. Another RDJ fan, love you already. But I think RDJ next big project is Avengers 2 which doesn't start filmimg until 2014. He was slated for the lead in Paul Thomas Anderson's adatation of "Inherent Vice" but had to back out. But there is a rumor that he might make a cameo in "Guardians of The Galaxy Marvels next superhero movie with less known heros.

  38. I heard the REAL story was that Marky Mark wanted hotdogs cut up in Kraft Mac & Cheese. With extra ketchup.

  39. Lol Xander!

I'd love to see what Per Se would serve as a hamburger. I'm betting it would be something crazy. Hamburger flavored ice cream, with a French fried sauce on top?

  40. nevermindthat: Actually, RDJ is apparently doing a movie called The Judge, directed by whoever directed Wedding Crashers, because I just got an e-mail saying that Warner Bros. is looking for actors. (Somehow I ended up on a bunch of mailing lists that sometimes send me stuff like this; the funniest one was the casting call for the Hilary Swank movie where she becomes a lawyer to get her brother out of prison, because one of the former partners at the law firm where I worked at the time was involved in that case, and IIRC the woman they cast was NOTHING like her.) Filming starts in May, and yes, I e-mailed back for more info...they probably won't be filming in Boston, but what the hell, I'm unemployed, right? :-)

  41. I agree with Cathy.

And El Bulli, sadly, closed a few years ago. Sigh. And no, that chef would have laughed in this star's face.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think its more about a power play with the chef than really wanting a cheeseburger. What a classless tool.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Robin the mad Yes I know about The Judge that's a Jack Nicholson project I believe. But I don't think he has to bulk up for that one and @ Ima asked if there were any roles he had to bulk up for.

  45. Sounds like actor was angry with his wife. He wanted to order room service; she wanted to go to fancier restaurant. He dresses like a slob and orders a cheeseburger to punish her for not getting his way. She punishes him back by eating a five-star meal and ignoring. (But I'd want a milkshake, too. Craving one right now.)

  46. OT on Marky Mark, but he just finished shooting Lone Survivor and I'm super excitd for it. The book is amazing, heartbreaking, and eye opening. I hope they do it justice.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with nevermindthat. This is wicked overblown. He was underdressed. Has anyone here been to a top 10 restaurant and seen what people wear? (I'm thinking specifically of Alinea in Chicago. I've seen guys in SHORTS there! Bleurgh.) And the guy ordered something that might or might not have been on the menu (doesn't say) -- but isn't dreadfully hard for a top 10 restaurant to whip up. It wasn't like he ordered chiles en nogada. (That wasn't off the top of my head. I looked up a difficult dish that needs a lot of prep. It looks yummy!)

I don't think this is "outburst"-worthy. Sounds to me like bitchy customer or server complaints and/or a chance to poke at someone Enty doesn't especially care for.

  48. I immediately thought of Nicolas Cage. He's "eccentric" and moody and his wife is a former waitress...and people who have worked in restaurants are generally pretty bullshit-free when they go out to restaurants. Sidebar: "Valley Girl" was on TV last night. That movie captured Nic Cage in the, possibly, one moment when he was young and hot as hell. There's a brief kissing-on-the-beach scene where his body looks SICK. Interestingly, his chest hair is shaped like a rising phoenix. His eyebrows looked weird though. I LOVE that movie & the soundtrack.

  49. One of the best chefs in my town trained at El Bulli. Food is fantastic.

I'd have to hear a little more about what he was wearing bf gasping. Did he smell? I don't see the biggie in ordering off the menu. Esp with an A+ actor doing the ordering. Seems like they'd want the publicity that they dined there.
