Blind Item #3

This former A list Tweener with A list name recognition has been going through some rough patches in her life. She has not been doing much at all. An acting job here or there so she has lots of time to worry about her boyfriend and a lot of time to self-medicate. Not a good combination. She has been cutting herself. A lot.

  1. This was so easy you could have just as easily said Miley, ni blind needed.

  2. Time for Miley to cut her losses and end things with Liam.

    1. She has an album coming out, worked w/Pharrell, Doctor Luke, Wiz K, Mary J, Tyler the Creator, WillMadeit, and a bunch more ppl on it. I think this is her, but could easily be Demi. She's back w Wilmer, and that doesn't ever end well.

  6. Isn't Demi the cutter?

  7. Wow, I'm horrible at blinds and even I know this one....that article in the DM yesterday didn't help her at all, did it?

  8. Miley, I remember a recent picture showed some cutting by he wrists. I'll try to find it.

    1. @lottaColada great link. I saw this picture several times and never noticed the cutting scars. How sad.

  9. I don't think this is Miley. She just doesn't strike me as the type that gives enough fucks about things to do that.

  10. Miley, get it together girl!

  11. I know it's hard, Miley but in the words of Dan Savage, "DTMFA."

  12. First thought was Demi, but I wouldn't say she has A-list name recognition and I'm not sure she has a boyfriend.. Miley fits this to the T sadly.

  13. miley. pretty sure she admitted to being a cutter when she was younger?

Oh Miley, he's not worth it honey. You can do better.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yep, you can do better all by yourself Miley.

  16. Demi has been photographed w/Wilmer again recently. Either girl is a great guess!

  17. Miley admitted she cut a couple of years ago, so this isn't really surprising.

  18. No attacks please, but- I recently read the article from a couple of years ago that outed Enty as a fraud. I'm just curious if anything else has come From this article or if anyone has ever proven that Enty is, in fact, the real deal. any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  19. No thoughts Dunne, but thanks for playing.

So being an older person, the whole cutting thing first appeared several years after I entered adulthood. Who was the first person who said "I think I'll draw some blood to show the world what a tortured tragic teen I am"? And how did that emo innovator spread the word to all the other tortured teens to where it could become the phenomenon it is today?

  20. @ faux101 - Thanks to Hannah Montana, Miley has A list recognition. That shit was everywhere a few years ago. I couldn't get a Big Gulp at a 7-11 without seeing a shitload of Hannah Montana crap for sale on the counter; gum, lip gloss, etc. She might hate it now, but it made her MILLIONS.

  21. @LazyDay603 I think hurting yourself so you "feel" something and so you also feel like you have control over what you feel is not a "tragic teen" or "emo" thing. I also don't think it's a recent phenomenon. I'm in my 40s and saw it when I was in high school.

But hey, you should just go about your day judging people. Good luck with that.

  23. This is a beat one. Everybody saw Miley's cut marks in the Clive Davis party pics.

  24. I think it's Miley too. She has invested too much in Liam and refuses to let go even if its for the best. I hope she can let go before it ruins her.

  25. Miley is definitely at least a former cutter. Some of her scars are quite visible.

@lazyday, I used to cut as a teen. It was not to get attention (I would cut where scars wouldn't be visible), and this was before the "emo" trend. It started before I started seeing a shrink. I was severely depressed and had no outlet. Typically after a bad crying jag, I would choose to cut. Instantly I felt a release, it was almost like a drug.

Sorry to get personal! I do understand how one wouldn't understand, but it is so much more than a cry for attention. I haven't cut in ages, but feel for those who feel the need to do it now. Therapy works!

  26. Definitely Miley - girl needs to get some help!

  27. I was thinking more along the lines of Amanda Bynes.

  28. Wasn't there a blind some time ago that about Miley being a cutter? There was a link to a photo, as I recall.

  29. @karrots - thanks. I'm not a troll. I often make guesses at blinds and read the blog everyday. I was honestly just curious as I had recently stumbled upon that article. Just curious if anything ever came of it.

  30. Per Wikipedia. "The term "self-mutilation" occurred in a study by L. E. Emerson in 1913 where he considered self-cutting a symbolic substitution for masturbation."

So, apparently not a recent emo teen girl attention garnering thing.

  31. I'm sorry I was snide. I first heard of the practice in the early 1980's when I was in college. It seemed baffling then and it still seems baffling now. I grew up with 4 sisters and thought I knew about every teen girl trend and coping mechanism there was. So how it went from no cutting to cutting being common in a few short years seems strange. I really do apologize.

  32. I'm with you Lazyday. I don't understand it either so it was kind of Puggle to share. That made it a bit more clear.

  33. miley, she's been reblogging cutting photo's and depressing quotes on her tumblr a lot lately

  34. I'm so sad for her and anyone that cuts. :( My ex did. My husband's niece does. So sad. So much pain in them.

aww damn miley....i had never noticed those cuts before. And as far as her album she completely financed it herself an i remember blinds abt saying the producers are basically just taking her money and laughing at her behind her back....im have a soft spot for miley, my son use to watch that show all the time

  36. Self-mutilation is also not exclusive to humans. Birds and horses, among other animals, have be known to scrape/bite themselves or pluck out their feathers when they are 'depressed' (if they lose a close companion or due to prolonged isolation, etc)

Usually, self-harming is a way of externalizing internal pain. Somehow, being able to physically feel and see the 'hurt' serves as a coping mechanism. Other people may focus on the healing process and glean some sort of solace from watching the externalized pain heal, interpreting it as a representation of their own desire for internal (psychological) healing.

It really is a real issue and can leave permanent scars that haunt the individual long after they have moved on to a better place emotionally. Those are not easily explained away and may act as a barrier to future achievements or social relationships.

Sorry this was so long, but I really worry when people either glorify or condemn self-harm as a fad or simply attention-seeking since that only serves to further alienate people who have suffered from the condition and potentially encourage the behavior in certain social groups.

    ReplyDelete
  37. all that being said, definitely Miley. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. oh, also, as Puggle alluded to, there is an endorphin release associated with any injury that may temporarily help with the pain of depression and encourage self-harm as a coping mechanism.

    ok, I'll shut up now.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't see Miley doing this. She is more the type who will likely trash Liam;s car when she tosses his ass to the curb. [To which I say, good on you, dear!] I am thinking Demi.. maybe Selena?

    ReplyDelete
  40. isn't Miley working on her album tho?

  41. It's also that people never talked about cutting before, stuff like that was hidden away.

This isn't about cutting, but similar: A woman I know, about 15 years ago, her kid started getting bald patches. Went to the doctor, tests were run, etc. Turned out the kid was pulling the hair out, due to stress/depression. Kid would rather go through all those tests than admit the problem.

So it's good that people talk about this stuff. Not so good if it inspires one to join in, but it takes away that shame and that "only person in the world that does _____" feeling.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wonder if cutting became more common or well known after the NIN song 'Hurt' came out in 1995.
    The lyrics include:
    "I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel.
    I focus on the pain
    The only thing that's real.
    The needle tears a hole
    the old familiar sting.
Try to kill it all away
    But I remember everything."

Miley is recording a record with Pharell, I think she's plenty busy right now.

  44. @lazyday

I was a cutter as a teenager too, but it certainly wasn't for attention. I was careful to either keep the cuts hidden (usually by cutting my upper thigh during summer, back of my forearm during winter) and I always made sure they looked like cat scratches because at the time I had a totally psychotic cat and it was plausible that he had scratched me up badly.

Miley's scars look several years old to me. My scars look like that and I haven't cut since I was about 16. I scar easily, but I had the sense to cut on the back of my arm where my freckles hide the scarring pretty well.

I did it because I felt like causing myself physical pain helped release the emotional pain I had inside. I was clinically depressed but wasn't diagnosed or getting treated and emo hadn't made its way into the schools yet at the time. It was genuine pain that caused me to act out, not any kind of fad or desire to be edgy or cool or whatever. I went to great lengths to hide my cutting.
