Blind Item #2

This A+ list mostly movie actor with A+ list name recognition has discovered a new hobby and it is not paying off well for him at all. The actor, who has been known in the past for diving head first into things without thinking about them has spent the past few months gambling several times a week and has suffered losses of several million dollars. Apparently he has not made good on the debts because he does not have access to his money directly and needs to request it which he is reluctant to do.

  1. @FSP unfortunately a good guess

  2. Not having access to his own money would suggest someone with previous problems with impulse control, possibly substance abuse. Mel Gibson is another good guess.

    Shia?

  4. Cage, he may still be under some sort of receivership because of his bankruptcy.

    1. Cage sounds right. He's known for impulsiveness with money.

  5. The money is in a trust?

  7. The question is, however, is if either Gibson (my own guess) or Cage is still A+, which in my world is being able to open a movie on name recognition alone. RDJ certainly is A+ right now.

  8. I'm going to guess Brad Pitt and that his money is monitored by Angelina

  9. @FSP RDJ is a good guess but I doubt it's him. I don't think Susan is that controlling especially since some of the blinds I have read about them.

    Justin Bieber

  11. RDJ made $50 mil for the last Iron Man, he is not in debt.

Wasn't he revealed in a BI to be really generous and actually pay for other people's rehab stints? Not him!

  12. What else has Nicolas Cage done to warrant being called "mostly movie" rather than "all movie"?

    ReplyDelete
  13. "dive head first" reminds me of that video clip of Kiefer diving into a Christmas tree...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think Kiefer would warrant a "mostly TV now" descriptor. His show Touch is coming back on the air this month.

I refuse to think this is RDJ. Nic Cage is a good guess, the clue, been known for diving head first in to things without thinking about them, should be very significant, just can't think what it's referring to though.

  16. Possibly Johnny Depp. His money is looked after by accountants, he's ridiculously generous, and bought a mansion for his baby mama last year. The $18 million boat has just gone on the market. He earns shitloads, but spends it.

    1. I like this guess! He is known for being rather impulsive and doesn't always think things through. I mean he left Vanessa for Amber and look how that blew up in his face?

Sadly I just watched Once Upon a Time in Mexico last night. He and Banderas were gorgeous then. A far cry from the scruffy greasy look he is employing lately. :( Even Rourke wasn't so bad. Wasn't the Chihuahua in that movie his beloved pet he lost few years ago?

  17. Mickey Rourke?

He blew all his money before his "The Wrestler' comeback, and he spoke in interviews of how his agent gives him a weekly allowance cause he's useless with money.....

    1. Tho I wouldn't describe him as A+.....

  18. @lottacolada just to piggyback off you RDJ also wrote a check for 60 thousands on the spot for that movie theater that was about to be shut down so I doubt anyone controls his money.

  19. Is Depp still A+ when he's not wearing his pirate costume?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well tbat could be the exact reason his money needs to be monitored, wben you just impulsively throw down serious cash without a moment's thought. (RDJ)

  21. Crap, this sounds like Nic Cage. He sort of has that OCD mania, and gets into collecting things. At least with things you can resell them and hopefully get part of it back, but with gambling, if you don't win anything back you might as well have flushed it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'd say Depp is more a+ than cage, gibson or rourke.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That being said... Affleck? With wifey controlling the money?

    1. Yes--that is my vote!

  24. Most actors/musicians have business managers who handle their money. They get a monthly deposit into a personal spending account. If they need more, they have to request it.

    1. @j - co is absolutely correct. This could be almost anyone. And a good entertainment biz manager will lay down the law and reel your ass in...

If you lose all your money, they lose a paying client and part of their livelyhood. They want to keep you on an even keel, set for life.

So anyone with a good biz manager would be scared to ask for the money and have to own up to it.

  25. Nic sounds like a good guess, but he's not "mostly" movie. RDJ, no way, he's got loads of money from Iron Man and, as someone pointed out above, he's more than willing to drop a wad of cash for someone in need.

That said, I got nothing. I was hoping it was Ashton (he's in the DM today) but I don't think he's mostly movie. Just mostly jerky.

  26. @Redd it was a charity event to raise money and that was RDJ's donation (Jeez,

  27. I thought of James Franco immediately.

  28. I was thinking Pitt, too. He seems stupid and I totally believe Angie controls the finances.

  29. In order to lose that much money, wouldn't you have to have a serious amount of money to put down first? I didn't think any yahoo couldn't just sit at a big money table without putting down quite a bit of money. The only way I could see this happening is if the people running the table thought he was someone with a lot of money ( ie he seems credible). If they thought he was someone with impulse issues they probably wouldn't let him play because they can't guarantee they'll get their money.

    1. By credible I mean someone who isn't just rich in name but also has money in the bank.

  30. What about Jason Statham? Former professional diver would fit with Enty's clue.

  31. I do so want this to be Tom Cruise

    ReplyDelete
  32. I was thinking it was someone younger, like Haley Joel Osment, but I don't think he's A list any longer.

    No clue.

  33. Leonardo DiCaprio.

    1. @agent I was going to say him too. Brotha is partying it up in Miami.

  34. Daniel Radcliffe. Alcohol first.

    ReplyDelete

    1. @Vikingwench: Daniel sounds like the perfect candidate. Everyone would assume he has tons of money because of the potter franchise. He does come across as impulsive. Like the time he crashed some party. Young footballers or something.

  35. I could see Brad rebelling @ Angies controlling of everything, including him.

    ReplyDelete
  36. @ caralw - Gambling wouldn't be a new hobby for Ben Affleck.

I think Cage is a good guess.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Tom Cruise ! Requesting money from Scientology maybe ?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I immediately thought of Tom Cruise. The cult probably has tight reins on his bank account. Although, with his team of handlers, how would he sneak out to gamble? Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm thinking Brad Pitt - known for diving into other interests: jewelry design, interior design, etc. A+ mostly movie actor - he was hilarious on Friends. With as many houses and outside ventures as they have, I'm sure his money is tied up and I haven't seen much of him and Angie Jo together lately.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would guess Brad Pitt, with his money tied up into his production company and the movie produced that's been delayed. Wasn't he the guess for a blind about gambling debt and maybe why he filmed that commercial? Other guesses for those high stakes games were Damon, Clooney and DiCaprio, and maybe the diving hint fits "Titanic" star Leo better?

  41. @Bravura...yes...that was his chihuahua
