Blind Item #1

This former A+ list celebrity/actor has slid a long way down the list ladder in the intervening years. Still popular, but generally with an older crowd, although most young people know at least a few of his early works very well. Actually with the older crowd he still sells out lots of places. At a recent show, our former A lister looked wasted and there was a woman a wheelchair trying to give him a gift and he kept ignoring her. She said "I have something for you." He said "I've got something for you and I'd like to sing some more songs." He also told people to stop shouting while he was singing.

  2. Iggy Pop, maybe.

    William Shatner maybe?

  4. I thought Wayne Newton or Tom Jones.

  5. I don't understand what the blind is? What did this person do that was so awful?

  6. The reason I vote for Iggy Pop - though I never would've thought of him for this, is because he's in the DM on set of a Chrysler commercial. Plus, "Lust For Life" and "I Wanna Be Your Dog" are still played and used in things quite a bit.

  7. The only actors named so far are Shatner and Hasselhoff, neither of which I believe has ever been A+.

    1. Shatner was... Star Trek forever

    Tony Danza.

  9. I'm going with the Hof too. He's an actor and a singer and was certainly A list in the 80's. Also, he's known for getting wasted and rude.

  10. Neil Diamond was in the Jazz Singer.

  11. @Amber - Was Iggy Poo ever A+ list though?

  12. This sounds like an actor who sings, not a singer who acts.

My guess is Jim Belushi. A company I worked for hired his Blues Brothers band for a private gig and he was rude to some girls who asked for his autograph.

I think Shatner would of been A+ back in the Star Trek days. Everyone knows who Captain Kirk is. Also George Takai always talks about what an ass he is when he's on Howard Stern. Now Shatner does that lounge act.

  14. Has Billy Crystal done any comedy shows recently?

  15. @FSP - he's a legend. He's in the RnR HoF. It says "celebrity/actor", which I interpret to mean the person did something before they were an actor. But oh well. It doesn't matter if no one agrees with me.

    1. Amber, I can't believe Iggy would be an ass, if that's what the blind means. Be yes he is A++ freaking legend if you're into punk rock. And yes he's an actor too. I got your back lady!

  16. One would think that Jim Belushi would be happy for any recognition. I liked Blues Brothers and everything but really.

  17. @Amber - hmmm...he IS in the DM.

  18. @Tuxedo Cat - Agreed, especially since the only reason he is even famous is because his brother died.

I was thinking Justin Timberlake, but obviously that is way off. I'll go with Shatner. I've heard a few 2nd hand, "Don't you know who I am?" stories about him.

  19. Kevin Costner for the WIN

Costner is a very good guess, but I think he's still riding a little comeback wave on the heals of "The Hatfields and McCoys."

  21. Not Iggy. Saw him at ACL in Oct. he called fans on stage yo dance, posed for pics with them, never missed a beat and his show was energetic start to finish. ACL security was over run by fans and it was great! Not in a scary way but in a super cool Iggy way.

  22. Jim Belushi is HORRIBLY RUDE, IRL. If there is ever a blind for a horribly rude guy, it's him. Superbowl 1997, New Orleans. He is a big jerk. Dan Ackroyd was good and John Goodman was as nice as could be. Belushi, however, was a dick.
Sorry about the OT, but someone mentioned him and I just remembered about it!

  23. If Shatner IS doing lounge shows, I say him, fo sho.
Can't you hear his voice saying that line?

I love the man, he's a national treasure (hence the kinda former A+), but he hasn't gone ANYWHERE for the past 40 YEARS without people swarming him and trying to give him things. Seriously the man is just stalked while being fawned over, by so many very well-meaning people. He is known as hard-hearted to fans because of this. Maybe not short with every fan every time, but these kind of stories about Shatner are almost trite.

As for the blind--Younger would know him as Priceline guy, also for being hilarious bloated old jackass in cameos everywhere.

  24. I'm on the Costner train...

  25. Anonymous8:21 AM

I don't think it's Shatner, because he's still very popular. He does the Priceline commercials, and there are many young Star Trek fans who still worship him. Plus, his forays into "singing" have always been a goof. I don't see anyone paying to hear him "sing" songs.

  26. Younger people know shatner from Star Trek. Big Bang theory etc. they're not all dumb

  27. Neil young? Just to throw another name out! He is well known for his politics and some of his earlier music is still a hit among the hip kids

  28. Billy Bob Thornton? Here's a list of actors in bands: http://www.listal.com/list/actors-turned-singers-alix87

  29. I'm on the Iggy train.

  30. Rick Springfield?
He was on General Hospital and currently tours.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think this would be Tom Jones but he was never an actor but he was a celebrity.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Most likely Neil Diamond. Iggy's never acted.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nor was Iggy A+, ever. Among rock stars, maybe, but in the general entertainment field? Nah.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Tom Jones- sexy bomb ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Russell Crowe. I'd also be yelling at him to shut up if he tried singing around me ;) I know this can't be him but I just wanted to get in a dig against his annoying vocal performance in Les Miz. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't see Jim Belushi being this nice when he's irritated at fan behavior. David Hasshoff sounds like the closest match in my book. If the blind hadn't specified "actor"', I would be on the Iggy Pop train for this.

  37. Well u can't disturb a man while singing

    ReplyDelete
  38. Barry Manilow is on Broadway right now...could be him.

  39. @Mel - ou stole my answer! Billy Bob would say something like that. We Canadians are still pissed at him calling us "mashed potatoes" a few years ago.

That being said..I think the Hoff is a great answer, too. He was definitely A list back in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @triggerua Sadly he was my first thought.

  41. Some of you might not agree, but Rick Springfield was huge back in the day. I think I'm still missing part of hearing after taking my daughter and her friends to a concert in a coliseum....and he's on tour now.

  42. Just to clarify it was John Belushi in the Blues Brothers may he RIP

Rick Springfield was f**king funny on Californication playing himself as a drugged up sex crazed arrogant rockstar - was that method acting?

  43. I wish I had Jessie's girl.........

  44. Good lord, does Jim Belushi really have a Blues Brothers act? Pathetic! Talk about riding on his brother's coattails...

    ReplyDelete
  45. I second David Cassidy. I recently saw a billboard for him playing some casino locally (or maybe in AC). And he always, ALWAYS, had a rep for screwing groupies.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wayne Newton can't sing anymore, and he has so many legal troubles I don't think he's performing anywhere.

Tom Jones is still a big draw in Vegas and he goes to well known local places and sings the night away after his show.

    I'll go with the Hoff.

  47. Just to be different- Bruce Willis.

  49. Jim Belushi DOES have a Blues Brothers Act with Dan Ackroyd. I saw them Super Bowl 1997. He's a complete and total jerk.

Got busy today at work and wasn't able to check but Shatner is on tour right now with his "one man show"

  51. Rick Springfield! Gotta be him.

  52. Speaking of Russell Crowe, I remember the revealed blind that he used to force the crew members of his movies to sit in his room and listen to recordings of his singing. I couldn't think of anything but that when I saw Les Mis - he sounded so awful and I feel so bad for that crew!

  53. On July 5, 2013 Enty revealed this to be David Cassidy. Two people guessed it right!
