Anna Nicole Smith Died Six Years Ago Today
I remember six years ago writing about the death of Anna Nicole Smith and all spring and summer there were these huge fights between Howard K Stern and Larry Birkhead and there was this confusion about how Ana's son had died and what happened in the Bahamas and who gave Anna what and why were they giving it to her and there are still things happening in courtrooms today related to her death. It is hard to believe it has been six years and how everyday there just seemed to be something new to discuss and one more bombshell after the other.
Oh Anna. It feels like it has been so long. You were beautiful and are missed.

R.I.P. Anna :(. I was suspicious of Howard K. Stern the minute I saw him on her show. He was jealous of anyone who had her attention for more than 5 seconds. Plus, the way her son died, after being clean for months just never felt right to me. I'm happy that Danilynn is with her father. She seems like a very happy little girl.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever happened to Stern?
ReplyDeleteRIP. I'll never get over her losing son Daniel in the very same hospital room where she was recuperating after giving birth to daughter Dannielynn. And I'm still celebrating Larry Birkhead's paternity victory over douchenozzle Howard K. Stern.
ReplyDeleteLet's not deify her. She was gorgeous, married smartly and then became an utter mess and died at her own hands. Hopefully her daughter will have a more balanced, healthy life.
ReplyDeleteOh man, that was such a train wreck! Her little girl is adorable, I hope she doesn't fall into the same path.
ReplyDeleteRemember the episode of her reality show where she was decorating a neighbor's house and she turned one of the rooms into a sex den with black walls and a sling? I know she was kind of dumb, but she did make me laugh sometimes, and she seemed to have a sense of humor. I liked her.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I just adored her. Poor thing. And yeah, what IS Howard Stern doing now??
ReplyDelete@Audry, I agree. She was beautiful, but the rest....meh....certainly not one to look up to.
ReplyDeleteAnother one who liked her. She was deeply flawed, but aren't we all?
ReplyDeleteSo much other nuttiness around her death ... The name change for DanniLynn ( she was re-named for her brother after his death ) IIRC...ooooh and that creepy hubs of Zsa Zsa, Prince Von Sketchy, alleging paternity along with Stern. Larry Birkhead, despite his penchant for hideously frosted tips, seems to be doing right by his child ... Who'd a thunk it?
ReplyDelete*sigh* Poor AnnaNicole... And how did 6 years fly by?
Anna Nicole just had something about her that made her likable. It's hard to explain but not everyone has that ability to be well liked among the public for doing absolutely nothing.
ReplyDeleteMay she and her son RIP.
I used to rip her guess ads out of magazines and put them on my wall she was gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI was definitely affected when she died. :^(
A beautiful disaster. Hopefully that gorgeous little girl will grow up in a stable, loving home with her father.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry she chose that path in her life but it was her choice. Hopefully her daughter will have a normal life.
ReplyDeletePoor Anna Nicole. I really did like her. I hope Danilynn has a good life.
ReplyDeleteI forgot all about her poor son. May they both rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteI'll always remember the day she died because its also my mom's bday. Same with Amy Winehouse. She passed on my bday as well. =(

ReplyDeleteI really liked her too. I think everyone tried to take advantage of her and she really didn't know who to trust. I think Stern killed her and her son. I wouldn't be surprised.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds silly, but I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard she had died and broke down sobbing. I wasn't surprised at all, but was heartbroken for reasons even I don't understand. I really held out hope that she would somehow turn her life around.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered if truthfully if she didn't really die of a broken heart after her son died.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to kim?
ReplyDeleteI will never forget when her son died. He and my Step son have the same name so it was very surreal to hear it. My heart broke for her. I knew she wouldn't be long behind him. He was the love of her life and probably the only person who truly loved her back.
ReplyDeleteR.I.P to them both.
Does anyone know what Dannilynn's original birth name was?
ReplyDeleteNo but good question Redd.
ReplyDeleteI was so devastated when her son died. He was always so sweet and just seemed like the only positive force in her life when I watched her show. Then when she died, oh man. I mean I know she died of an OD, but I always wondered if she just gave up after Daniel died.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad, strange incident all around.
I also remember exactly where I was when she died.. It was kind of weird. I was working a day shift bartending at this hole in the wall dive bar. Someone walked in and asked if we'd " seen the news " and we stayed glued to the tv the rest of my shift. It was kind of weird how there was continuous coverage on several news stations for hours.
ReplyDeleteThe baby's birth name: Hanna Rose Stern per Wikipedia.
ReplyDeleteName changes
ReplyDeleteA little over a month after the birth, a copy of the baby's disputed second birth certificate dated October 11, 2007 was made public showing she was renamed and registered as Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern on October 9, 2006.[3] From September 7, 2006 to October 11, 2006 the baby was in the records as Hanna Rose Stern. After the birth of her daughter, according to G. Ben Thompson, a former boyfriend of hers who is a real-estate developer in South Carolina, Smith wanted to put him down as the father on the birth certificate, but he refused. Thompson also was not convinced it was his because he had a vasectomy.[4][5] Although Stern is named as the father on the earlier certificate, attorney Dion Smith Jr. signed his name where Stern's signature should have been. This discrepancy made the birth certificate invalid so that it could be possible for a new birth certificate to be asked for and a DNA test sought to determine the father's identity.[6] [7] In April 2007 following the official results of the paternity test, Birkhead changed his daughter's surname to his last name, renaming her Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead.
DanniLynn seems to be doing well. We rarely see het, which in my mind is an awesome thing. I am happy to see that her dad hasn't pimped her out to various news media for publicity.
ReplyDelete@PuggleWug,
ReplyDeleteDannielynn is only six and already a model and all over Access Hollywood, ET, Sun, ABC, Daily Mail...Larry Birkhead is a parasite who exploits little kid in tabloids because he has no his own income, job. Why do you pretend that you know nothing about Dannielynn's modeling career and tabloid life?
I believe Dannielynn only had one modeling gig, wasn't it the Guess one, in 'honor' of Anna Nicole? I'd hardly say she's all over all those things willingly. I"m not sure he pimps her out as much as you say, considering the hype over the Guess ad.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell, woody? I think I have seen that child once in the past few years. I am not "pretending" anything. Chill the fuck out.
ReplyDeletePuggle- what woody doesn't realize is Anna set up a really nice trust fund for Her daughter. Her dad can't touch it. If I am not mistaken.
ReplyDelete@woody
ReplyDeleteShe did ONE modelling shoot in tribute to her mother which LB said was just a ONE TIME THING, and insisted was NOT done like a modelling shoot at all but DaniLynn just thought she was playing (in a tree I think?) and someone was taking her picture.
That is the ONLY time I've seen her since about a year after her mom died.
Did anyone see the Anna Nicole movie masterpiece starring my favorite one hit wonder, Willa Ford, or am I the only person on earth who sat through that?
ReplyDelete@woody, while numerous tabloids may cover the occasions when Dannielynn surfaces, those appearances are few and far between. A one time Guess modeling tribute to her mother, and once a year public appearances with Larry at the Kentucky Derby horse race do not an exploitative, parasitic father make. If Howard Stern was raising Dannielynn, I dread to think how he'd be promoting her for his own advantage.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting fact I neglected to mention is that Larry & Dannielynn's yearly Kentucky Derby appearance has personal significance for them. They live right there in Louisville for one thing, and the Kentucky Derby is where Larry and Anna Nicole first met.
ReplyDeletemy heart breaks at all this...i remember it freakishly well. i do take comfort in that larry birkhead fought like a mofo for that precious baby girl...remember howard stern and what seemed like a never-ending press tour claiming and 'proving' that *he* was the daddy! i cringe at the thought of that slimeball raising dannilynn.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was a one time photo shoot. Thanks for having my back on that one, you guys!
ReplyDelete@Silly, woody seemed fairly heated for no real reason. The only time I have seen the little girl was in that ad. I subscribe to a few trashy magazines, and have never seen her dad doing any interview, let alone a front page one.
ReplyDeleteWith Anna's death, her child ended up getting a normal life. Anna probably would have stayed on all of her meds, with Stern enabling her the entire time. If Birkhead did het custody, it would only be part time. As much as I hate to say it, Danni didn't stand a chance at normalcy if she were to be raised by Anna.
Get, not het. I hate you, autocorrect!
ReplyDeleteShe was one of the most beautiful women out there. Totally fucked up, but drop dead gorgeous. I was really shocked by her death. My mom was too - my born again Christian mom.
ReplyDeleteIt was heartbreaking hearing that her beloved son died, but hearing she died soon after was a total shock.
It is funny what a personal stake we seem to have in these types of stories. I was obsessed with this story and love seeing the yearly photos of Birkhead and Dannilynn each year at the Kentucky Derby because they are the only ones you ever see...I think it speaks to how wonderfully this story turned out.
ReplyDeleteThe judge in that trial is a bona fide nut job.
