Amy Locane Sentenced To Three Years In Jail
Amy Locane of Melrose Place fame was sentenced yesterday in her vehicular homicide conviction and received 3 years in jail. Combined with time off for good behavior and the 81 days she will be credited, Amy will probably get out of jail in a little over 2 years. As you can imagine, the family of the person she killed are not happy. They had expected and wanted the judge to sentence Amy to the maximum of ten years. The judge gave her a break because one of Amy's kids has a serious medical and mental disability and would suffer more if Amy is in jail.
so will the family of the murdered woman, but she can't come back now can she?

ReplyDeleteWas this the result of a DUI/DWI?
ReplyDeleteDrunk driver kills someone, but she's too necessary to her handicapped daughter's well being to do the time? I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteMakes me think of Matthew Broderick and the two Irish people he killed. No consequence for him. She should have gotten the max, imo.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?
Delete@agent yeah WHAT???
Delete@Lotta, her blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit at the time. The crash killed a 60-year-old woman and seriously injured the woman's husband.
ReplyDelete@phoenix- sheesh! I'm not familiar with the case. Glad you cleared that up for me since enty left that tidbit out.
DeleteGood to know that if I am black out wasted and kill someone, I won't be spending too much time in jail.
ReplyDeleteOh wait, I'm not famous so those fancy rules don't apply to me.
Well said :)
DeleteThis is a ridiculous sentence. It pisses me off.
ReplyDeleteMy friend lives in Hopewell and knows Amy, I remember when the accident happened because I was visiting my friend at the time. Before killing the women she also rear ended another car and left the scene.
ReplyDeleteCelebrities really never get punished, do they?
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm sure the deceased's daughter would like some help from her mom, but that ain't gonna happen, is it?
ReplyDeleteNever understood why Broderick got a pass for his accident in Ireland. I did read that he went back years later and met with the families...which is something, I guess.
And im sure he shoveled a shitload of money their way.
DeleteI'm sure you're right, auntliddy.
DeleteShe can't claim to be in jail for being young, anymore.
ReplyDeleteOh and the best, the defense actually tried to blame the husband since he made the left hand turn into his driveway thus crossing the lane Amy was traveling in (mind you she was also going 53 in a 35mph zone) when she had the right away. Not that her blood alcohol was almost .24, not that she rear ended another car (she also blamed them for going so fast as they were following her trying to get her to pull over) no it was everyone elses fault.
ReplyDeleteidk about Matthew Broderick, now I must go search and learn.
ReplyDeleteI do remember the Broderick story. Really sad! but I don't think he was intoxicated. I might be wrong but I don't remember hearing that at the time. It was just an unavoidbale accident..again I think but I do recall him dating Jennifer Grey at the time and apparently she was in the car with him when it happened.
ReplyDeleteIf she had not hit that other car beforehand, she could have plead out for 3-6 months and might have been acquitted if she'd gone to trial.
ReplyDelete"Makes me think of Matthew Broderick and the two Irish people he killed. No consequence for him. She should have gotten the max, imo."
ReplyDeleteBut Matthew wasn't drunk, was he? IIRC, Jennifer Grey was with him in the car as they were dating at the time, but it was merely an accident. That's different to me than driving while intoxicated.
I don't remember all the specifics about Matthew Broderick's accident, but I do recall that Jennifer Grey was with him, and that he wasn't driving drunk--it was just a horrible accident, pure and simple. That's a very different issue from getting drunk, smashing up several cars, killing someone, and leaving the scene. (From what I've seen, leaving the scene will get you nailed much harder than if you'd stuck around, even if you are drunk. I don't think I need to remind anyone here not to do such a thing, though...)
ReplyDeleteAmy Locane was on maybe the first season of the original Melrose Place, and was gone. I mean she wasn't even part of the cast for the years it really took off and is best known for. And that was so long ago now. It's unbelievable that she's still getting special treatment or is considered a celebrity of any sort by virtue of that one maybe 12-episode run.
ReplyDeleteI mean Amy Locane is like that guy who married Courtney Stodden and all the original headlines said he was a star from Lost. He played some minor character who appeared in a handful of episodes.
ReplyDeletehere is an article from People about it. He wasn't driving drunk, just American and a bit arrogant for not heeding a Police man's advice for proper directions. This was way before the TMZ era and I think Matthew was lucky to not be charged with negligence.

Deleteand here is more recent wiki info about the Broderick crash. Seems he was charged and it was pled down to a lesser charge. Star power!
ReplyDeleteOn August 5, 1987, Broderick was in a car accident in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, while vacationing with Jennifer Grey, whom he had begun dating in semi-secrecy during the filming of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The accident, which was the event through which their relationship became public, occurred when the rented BMW Broderick was driving crossed into the wrong lane and collided head-on with a Volvo driven by a local mother and daughter, Anna Gallagher 28, and Margaret Doherty 63, who were killed instantly in the accident. Broderick suffered a fractured leg, fractured ribs, a concussion, and a collapsed lung. Grey received minor injuries, including severe whiplash. Broderick told authorities he had no recollection of the crash and did not know why he was in the wrong lane. "I don't remember the day. I don't remember even getting up in the morning. I don't remember making my bed. What I first remember is waking up in the hospital, with a very strange feeling going on in my leg," he said at the time. Broderick was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and faced up to five years behind bars, but was later convicted of the lesser charge of careless driving and fined $175,[10][11][12][13] which the victims' family called "a travesty of justice." Martin Doherty, whose sister and mother were killed in the crash, later stated that he forgave Broderick, amid plans to meet with Broderick in 2003, in order to gain a sense of closure. As of 2013, the meeting has not taken place.[14]
White girl swag...nothing new under the sun.
ReplyDelete...Now if this were Lindsey Lohan...she would have gotten a slap on the wrist and a warning not to kill anyone ever again. Then as punishment, she would have received a bunch of new acting gigs from a bunch of directors in hollywood.
ReplyDelete"Amy Locane was on maybe the first season of the original Melrose Place, and was gone. I mean she wasn't even part of the cast for the years it really took off and is best known for. ReplyDeleteHmm, see, I remember her from CRY BABY and AIRHEADS, so in my mind, she WAS a movie star. Ish. I wasn't even watching "MP" that first year. But anyway...
A couple of things, I am so sure the parents of the deceased are cool with her not doing too much time due to Amy's child having medical and mental issues. Like that's their problem. Amy is still getting off better than Chris Brown! It's okay to kill, just not beat that shit out of a woman.
ReplyDeleteHa, just curious has an issue with this light sentence, but thinks Chris Brown's public shaming is too harsh. Obvious troll is obvious. Go back under your bridge, prick.
ReplyDeleteNo,I think Charlie's public shaming isn't enough. For instance,if Charlie smack your ass,no one would care because Charlie was being Charlie.
DeleteOr if Amy Locane with her fine skinny ass ran over and killed you because she wasn't sober. This would make news not because someone died but because Amy is a fine ass WW.Not if Amy hit/ran a damn dog, more attention would come because whitefolks love their animals more than their fellow human being.
Uh oh..... The troll crawled out from under his race card pulling bridge!
DeleteWARNING! Don't feed breezy!
There is nothing wrong with preferring animals over people. I do.
DeleteThere's something wrong with getting a longer sentence for killing an animal than killing another man.
DeleteI really hate this time of the year. They have to show Blackfolks at their weakest, getting attack by police dogs and shit.
Maybe Vick was onto something...fuck a dog.
Except they never do. Animals get tortured on a daily basis and the perpetrators rarely go to jail. Get your facts straight before you spout off bullshit. People who torture and kill people, always go to jail when caught.
DeleteMy facts str8,you're sprouting bullshit!!!
DeleteYou equate animal cruelty to murder, you're fuckin' idiot!!!
I am a compassionate person who cares about animal welfare. I sleep very well at night. I feel sorry for you, you must be very unhappy to constantly come here and act the fool.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI'm a compassionate person as well which is why I don't put beast B4 Man.I'm quite aware of a dog's loyalty. Some dogs are more loyal than most spouses.
DeleteI DON'T feel sorry for people like you.I think you're the type who reads theie morning paper, bypassing the murders, muggings and obits BUT will get shaken to bits over a thumbnail article concerning municipal funding cutbacks to an animal shelter. So shaken, you'll fire e-mails to the paper's editor, your city council and congressman.
I like to think when you die, folks will ignore your obituary because they were too busy reading a thumbnail article about a litter of puppies stranded after a snowstorm.
Like most of your other diatribes just curious, you are 100% wrong in your assessment of me.
DeleteThe thing that bothers me was where was her concern for how much her children might have suffered because she was drinking and driving? Had she killed herself they would have been without her anyway. I guess since she only killed someone else it's easy to worry about her children now. The judge was wrong in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean I am not allowed to enjoy CryBaby anymore?
ReplyDeleteOur resident racist, just curious, is back. Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteI knew you'll miss me just to show you the error of your ways.
DeleteThe public seems to need a scapegoat. I don't think that Amy Locane will be a scapegoat. Lizzie Grubman was for a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteRight now it's Chris Brown. He is the reference for every piece of domestic violence that happens. LeAnn Rimes is another one. As annoying as she is, she seems to be the reference point for infidelity. Angelina Jolie must thank her lucky stars every day for LeAnn's existence, because before LeAnn came along, it was Angelina.
I thought that one common thread between these people is that they have never made a public apology, or seemed remorseful. Chris Brown did offer an extensive public apology back in 2009. I had not realized this.
Warning: this link does not open a new window, it is in the same one. Just to let you know in case you don't have 'back' capability.
Chris Brown tapes video apology to Rihanna - Entertainment - Access Hollywood - TODAY.com
Funny, how this became a Brown post... not because of me.
ReplyDeleteGood god, Tuxedo. What about the fight with Drake? Going apeshit on Good Morning America, the fight with Frank Ocean? He keeps doing the same damn thing. He apologized once. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI guess my point was that while this crime is notable, even the fact that someone was killed and someone else injured, the public will forget about it in a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad people can't express their opinions any more on here without being called trolls.
ReplyDeleteLocane isn't a household name.I remember her from MP,don't know why she left.
DeleteIdk how the media pick and choose who and what they want to highlight, maybe there's a bias going on.aside from the obvious.
Gotta admit,I gotta laugh out of Halle Berry's hit/run and saying she blacked during the accident. She should've gotten an Oscar for that.
If had been at the height of her fame instead of dropping back to D-list, she probably would have just got probation. As Lohan shows, the more famous you are, the less time punishment you get. If anyone of us did any one of these things these people get busted, we would have done serious time and completely screwed our financial futures. They do something and it actually makes them more money. (Betcha Locane shops a book around in two years)
ReplyDeletetimebob, thanks. A little under the weather. August 5, 1987, Broderick was holidaying with then fiancee Jennifer Grey, of Dirty Dancing, when his BMW crashed head-on with a car carrying Anna Gallagher, 30, and her wheelchair-bound mother Margaret, 63.
ReplyDeleteHe was driving on the wrong side of the road and both Anna and her mother died.
Martin Doherty, who lost his mum and sister on that day, and who has been confined to a wheelchair since contracting an undiagnosed illness, said: "Of course you wonder if he got off lightly because of who he was."
"He got the same punishment he would have got if he'd run over cattle".
I think there was a lot of payola to authorities on this one to get the lesser charge. He could have faced up to five years in jail for causing death by reckless driving.
re: Broderick accident, I didn't realize that Dirty Dancing came out days after the accident. Jennifer Gray was in a difficult position, thrust in the spotlight while probably suffering PTSD from the accident. Never been a fan of hers, but reading about that put her in a new light for me.
ReplyDelete"Martin Doherty, whose sister and mother were killed in the crash, later stated that he forgave Broderick, amid plans to meet with Broderick in 2003, in order to gain a sense of closure. As of 2013, the meeting has not taken place."
ReplyDeleteJudging you now Matthew...
If he's forgiven Matt, why meet for closure???
Delete@just curious, perhaps to accept an apology Matthew apparently doesn't think he owes him.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.but if you 4give someone, wouldn't that be closure enough.Meet me for what? To broadcast it on tv like Lief Garrett did that guy he left paralyzed in his DWI accident?
DeleteIf the family DOESN'T forgive Matt,I understand that as well but the whole "I forgive you but letz meet for closure" thingy, idk.
Just Curious, did you forget to take your meds again?
ReplyDeletejust curious- Animals are more human than most black people. You want racism, I'll give it to you. Your own people kill each other (and everyone else) and I'm supposed to care? God knows "EBUL RAYCISS WHITEY" subsidizes you useless trash enough with our tax dollars. I'm not going to cry over some Trayvon thug that gets what's coming to him because he's out polar bear hunting or flash robbing whitey. There's a REASON whites hate you, but of course since you have no self-awareness, future time orientation or an IQ over 85 (and that's the HIGH end for y'all) I don't expect you to understand. So let me just say BIX NOOD OOK OOK SCREE MUH DIK...maybe you'll understand that.
ReplyDeleteWell this discussion went to hell in a handbasket quickly. And people complain about off topics but this one veered into the oncoming lane of ugly.
ReplyDeletemmhmm Sherry, sooo ugly.. smh
ReplyDeleteI remember watching a behind the scenes on Cry baby where Amy said she felt left out during filming of the movie because most of the cast and John Waters had been arrested before and she hadn't.
ReplyDeleteThere's a sad irony that she finally gets what she was moaning about.
Just curious may say some off the wall sh#t, this digi person with the CB sh#t is random but 888 is the epitome of race baiting/ bashing that is not normally seen or tolerated here. How utterly ignorant!
ReplyDeleteHow Just Curious is a racist for stating the obvious? I'm not AA but I'm not blind to see that the Justice is more complacent with Celebs and White people. Also I have noticed that Chris Brown and Charlie Sheen who are both losers are not treated the same in this one Blog. Please... Just say you don't like privileges to be denounced.
ReplyDeleteWow @ 888 post,
ReplyDeleteexcept for 1Jazzimom comment,
I'm sure he/she will never be get dissed by people the way other are coming at Just curious, such is life.
