  1. I'm not really surprised by any of the winners. I did want Jessica Chastain to win.

I don't understand why Ben Affleck didn't get a Best Director nom. I didn't see Argo. It looks like a good movie. For those who've seen it, is it worthy of Best Picture? I'm happy for Ben, but I'm very curious about his marriage comments.

I noticed that not too many people clapped for AnnE. I guess she's too insufferable for even the egomaniacs of Hollywood. "It came true" - gag me. Also, her dress looked terrible.

  2. The musical numbers were AMAZING, Seth I thought spent too much time showcasing his many gifts as if he were auditioning for something.

    ReplyDelete
  3. LOVED when Ang Lee won Best Director. And I loved Ben's speech at the end, he started crying.

Charlize dancing has turned me almost completely GAY, btw. HUBBA FRICKIN' HUBBA. Charlize is Goddess!

  4. Are there certain categories where there can be a tie and certain categories where it's not allowed? It would be hard to imagine a tie in the best picture category, or the lead actor/actress categories.

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, Cathy--a tie is a tie. Famous tie--Hepburn/Streisand for best actress....what year? googling....

  6. JLaw faceplant as the highlight of a terrible evening. Yech! Bring back Billy Crystal, or even James Franco. He could still teach Seth how to do "droll" "satirical"

    ReplyDelete
  7. I was just getting ready to "do 'droll' 'satirical'". What a coincidence! Better get my boots & gloves!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Yay for Ben and Christoph!!

Ugh for AnnE. My twitter feed was filled with equally annoyed sentiments about her.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm so pissed AnnE won.

  10. Best parts –

    We Saw Your Boobs
    Jennifer Lawrence eating it
Kristen Stewart’s “I just got fucked” hair
Ben Affleck’s Argo winning Best Picture and his speech

    Worst Parts –

    Way too long
All the damn singing…the Grammys were 2 weeks ago
    Creepy old man Jack Nicholson
Ms. POTUS injecting herself into what was supposed to be my viewing pleasure

FSP: The correct term for Mrs. Obama is FLOTUS. Much more lyrical. Not that it matters to you, I'm sure.

  12. Anne won and now Be Gone Bitch..., you know there is that Oscar curse...I'm putting a pin in her doll right now..

The make-up ! Ugh, was it me or did so many look painted....just too much.

  13. Seth is so incredibly talented..1st award show I saw from
Beginning to end in a LONG time ..

    1. @Jenny Divine
I was trying to remember the last time, if ever, I have watched an entire awards show. I thought Seth did a great job, from beginning to end.

  14. Uhm what was up with Kristen S's limp? She had the "I just got out of a gangbang" walk onto the stage.

  15. I thought the dresses were really boring.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Upon further reflection and seeing more pics, I have decided that AnnE Hathaway's dress was awful. The back is a hot mess.

I sincerely hope there are some blind items about Kristen Stewart. What a hot mess.

I think this Oscars telecast sucked, but it wasn't because of Seth. I thought Seth was good.

    1. Agreed the horse should've worn a nice frock

      Delete
    2. @susan I thought the front of her dress was the biggest problem. The neckline made it look like an apron or a bib. Then there were the cone shaped booby darts.

I think Kristen has a sprained or broken ankle. Apparently, she was using crutches on the red carpet.

  18. Did anyone stick around after for Jimmy Kimmel? "Channing all over my Tatum" is going to be running through my head all day! LOL

    1. @VIP- a bunch of us stuck around to watch, that was a funny bit!

  19. The FLOTUS' surprise appearance & words about the arts were a subtle plea about funding these things in education, reminding us that it's important. Music & art usually get cut first, it's a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was also pissed that Mr Ed Hawthaway trotted away with that award..insufferable!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Best Tweet :Mia Farrow "You can tell who's doing coke"

    ReplyDelete
  22. Agent--I saw the special kinda nose scratching myself! I was pointing them out for my BF. It was hilarious---spot the coke tickle.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Who did the coke tickle and what does it look like? I feel this is something I should know

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hubby and I noticed that most of the actors being interviewed on the way in seemed to be really unhappy. No one looked psyched or excited. Even Jennifer Lawrence was bitching about too many family members at her house when she was trying to get ready.

    Weird!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nellie--A LOT during the group numbers & presentations where they had a 'bit'. I think Renner did one, and Paul Rudd, and somebody else...goody-goody, can't remember now.
There were so many that I can't remember all the names. i will think, because there WAS one that surprised me.
NOT RDJ. Might have been JGL, after his dancing number. I forgave him for needing a booster for trying that live.

    ReplyDelete
  26. For those complaining about the singing..the theme was a nod to musicals soooooooooooo that's all I'm going to say lol

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, Nellie, I've never done coke. But I've seen known cokeheads scratch. It's like two quick hard scratches to the nostril. Very quick and unconscious-looking.
Also sometimes a VERY quick 'scratch-wipe', like obsessed with making sure you have no traces showing. ALL NIGHT I saw it. Way too many o name.

    1. Wow I feel incredibly naive for not lnowing this. I've never done coke but it seems like something I should know anyway. Now I'll be watching for it in every interview and awards show. Of course it could just be allergies... like on an old Seinfeld episode...

  28. Libby, add Kristen Stewart:)

  29. I thought the Oscars were great! Seth did such a better job than I thought he would. I loved the tribute to the musicals. Didn't love the presenter jokes, so many of them fell flat - it was jarring going from Seth to Paul Rudd and Melissa McCarthy, they were soooo not funny.

"We Saw Your Boobs"... ha! The dude who won an award for Argo being so obviously gakked out on coke... Ben Affleck slipping and thanking his wife for "working on their marriage" and then trying to cover it up during his speech... Charlize and Channing dancing in the beginning... the "Losers" song at the end in which Bradley Cooper was told "don't worry, you can always make Hangover 4"... there were tons of funny bits.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aw, Agent you noticed too! Wasn't surprised about hers, but a few made my heart weep. Like the SS Dreamboat 4-evah, Paul Rudd. I'm closing my eyes and screaming CASUAL USER! SPECIAL OCCASION!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I kinda liked it. I didn't get the Boobs song until I figured out what the Shat was doing, then I got it. hee hee hee.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I thought Seth did a good job. The show was entertaining but they planned way too many bits and numbers for a three hour show. Argo was a good movie but I haven't seen all of the other nominated films yet so I can't say if it deserved to win. I liked Ben's comments in the press room about all the other amazing directors who weren't nominated (e.g., Katheryn Bigalow). There was just too much talent this year for everyone to be recognized.

The dresses were pretty boring, but I have to give it up to Nicole Kidman as best dressed.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i didn't even watch the show but i did see half the movies. 'argo' is NOT an oscar caliber movie, IMO. i thought it was meh---plus the story is wildly inaccurate. i would much rather 'zero dark thirty' or 'beasts of the southern wild' had won best picture. they were far superior to 'argo.'

    ReplyDelete
  34. I liked Seth a lot. The show drug and drug though. I was about to pass out at midnight, but I barely made it.
And yeah, KStew was high as a kite on something. Hot mess.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Why oh why did Ben Affleck say that? Holy shit, Batman! Now that is ALL I want to know about. I don't care about anything else, even the coke users.

Enty, get to the bottom of this!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm bummed that I didnt get to watch the whole thing, I was asleep by 10:30. Props to the peeps that stayed on the live thread, I had over 700 emails this morning! Hope you all have lots of coffee today! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. It's incredibly strange that Ben Affleck's movie won, yet he didn't even get nominated for best director. If it weren't for his vision, the movie could have been a flop. That doesn't make any sense at all. I don't get the stupid academy people.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Re: KStew - I read she stepped on broken glass and that's why she was limping. She ditched the crutches to present.

The Oscars were pretty good this year if way too long. Nursing my first hangover in years. Anyone has a remedy I sure could use one ;)

  39. Blogger ate my comment..
2 things were really sour to me: the Rihanna/Chris joke and the Onion tweet about Quevenzhané Wallis. Google if you are interested.

  40. Oh and dear god Anne Hathaway, I did so much cringing when she gave her speech. You just know she rehearsed that in the mirror six times an hour for days on end. It came true....just quit it. At least I don't have to endure another breathless "quirky" speech from her again for awhile. Apologies to anyone who likes her, I'm just over her.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous7:49 AM

The Affleck thing was weird. Hope he has a better explanation this morning for Jen, although something tells me she was just happy to be mentioned. KStew was the biggest wtf of the evening she looked like a zombie crack whore.
The show had some funny parts, I liked we saw you boobs but overall way too much music.
Dresses were completely underwhelming. Kerry Washington, Charlize and Robin Roberts blue velvet stood out to me. Nicole's was gorgeous but the bottom squiggles ruined it or me as did the cut out on Naomi's sequin dress.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Agreed on the Onion tweet Agent. Too far. Just wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous7:55 AM

Me too Agent on the Onion tweet. On the Chris Brown/ Rhianna not so much. When you flaunt your ongoing relationship in the media, tumblr, release music together you should be able to handle the backlash. CB is a violent prick and Rhianna a foolish girl, a small joke at their expense is a good reminder to people (and young girls) that domestic violence is not okay.

  44. Is it wrong that I am so happy Speilberg got stiffed on Director and Movie?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I understand, maybe it was just me .

    ReplyDelete
  46. I thought Seth did a great job. The Captain Kirk bit was funny, and he was very handsome! The show itself wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it and watched the whole thing.

It's not just the scratching that gives away someone that has just done a rip. It's also when they talk, and you can tell they can't really feel their teeth at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can't believe Zero Dark Thirty didn't get more than one stinking sound editing award. It was much, MUCH better than Argo.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just had to Google the Onion tweet - are you kidding me? In what world would anyone find that funny?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous8:52 AM

Oh, that Quevenzhané Wallis tweet was just RUDE. How could they say that about such a sweet little girl? Leave the sarcasm for the 18 and over crowd. Leave the babies alone!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Liked a majority of the movies this year, strong bunch. Ultimately, I think Argo won because Ben got the shaft not being nominated for Best Director. The more I think about it, the more I love Life of Pi - happy to see Ang Lee win. I was pulling for Beasts of Southern Wild, though I knew it was a long shot. I also felt The Avengers shoul have been nominated and could have won!

Happy with all of the winners (even AnnE). Though I thought Amy Adams was better in the Master.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh, and if not for DDL in Lincoln, Denzel I believe would have won for Flight.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ben sounded like he was on coke. Sheesh, I was embarrassed for him, especially when he made his marriage slip up and the camera did a take away to Jennifer's face.

I was listening at one point and thought, "My god, who is that droll person speaking - they sound like they're in pain?". It was KStew. :(

I think DDL's and JLaw's acceptance speeches were the most genuine of the night, especially DDL's.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I guess I don't quite understand the dislike for Anne. I've never quite caught the background as to why she isn't popular here.

That being said, my ex worked closely with her a couple of years ago. He said that she was one of the most pleasant and down to earth people that he's come into contact with. According to him she was very friendly and even joined the crew a couple of nights a week to play beer pong and hang out while they were doing the show.

  54. Tonight the real fun begins: Joan Rivers. I'm a sucka for Fashion Police.

I thought Charlize was best dressed with Jennifer Lawrence a close second. Jennifer Hudson was amazing, but I wasn't feeling her hair.

I fully admit that I haven't seen any film that's been nominated (Shit. I just started season 3 of Downton Abbey. I'm always behind on these things), but I feel like Jessica Chastain was robbed in a way.

Highlights for me were Mia Farrow's tweet about coke and Jennifer Lawrence's interview AFTER the ceremony. And I do wish I saw Brandi Glanville interview celebs.

I thought the boob thing was stupid, but I did like the Star Trek bit. Seth McFarland is quite the looker (Guess I go for the clean-cut boyish grin look.) And I do have to give him props. He is so multi-talented. I hope he gets to host again. And I hope next year's ceremony focuses on the movies that are nominated rather than musicals from yesteryear. The fuck?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I also loved the bit about Shatner saying McFarlane will join the gay choir in 2015.

    ReplyDelete
  56. @Jessi - agreed. I love Anne Hathaway and she was amazing in Les Miserables. If they can give Judi Dench an Oscar for 6 minutes, Anne deserves one for what she did in Les Miserables. And Hugh Jackman loves her, which is enough for me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Didn't watch the show, but Ang Li was a surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Affleck is showing his age in that photo - he looks like Billy Joel.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The intro went on for far too long. The boob song was juvenile, but it was pure McFarland. I wish they would have quit with that song and moved on.

CDaN was not the only site snarking on KStew. A couple of other sites were talking about what a hot mess she was.

Another Oscar tie: KStew and Jack Nicholson for worst hair. Yeah, yeah, I know he's THEE Jack Nicholson, but couldn't the guy have gotten his hair cut for the Academy that's honored him three times?

I would have been fine with AnnE Hathaway's win if she could have omitted the, "It came true." She just can't stop herself from being an ass.

I just googled the Onion tweet. Let's see if Lena Dunham comments on it. Ha! Seriously though, wtf were they thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I feel like Jessica Chastain was straight ROBBED!!!! Nothing against Jennifer Lawrence- I thought she was great in Winter's Bone but damn! Jessica has been killing it in everything lately! Zero Dark Thirty was INTENSE.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Damien Francesco got screwed for 'Dog President.'

    ReplyDelete
  62. I feel like Jessica Chastain was robbed as well and I loves me some JLaw.
