Your Turn

I saw an article the other day that says that one piece swim suits are going to overtake the popularity of bikinis in the next few years. Agree or disagree?

  1. But they're so hard to pee in!

  2. I sure hope so. I'd love to be fashionable again.

  3. Disagree. People get annoyed enough about tan lines from bikinis - there's no way that many women would want pasty mid-sections. Plus, have you ever tried to go and pee while wearing a one-piece? A bikini is more practical for that reason alone.

  5. I recently went back to a one piece, but I'm a 35 year old mother. I did find a very cute style that isn't stuffy.

  6. I disagree. I will always wear a bikini, I don't feel comfortable in a one piece. But in general? Who knows. Probably.

  7. This brazilian is sticking to a two piece. I hate the funky tan lines.

  8. I disagree. A one piece may be the fad for a season or two, but they'll never take over.

  9. Wait? I only do bikinis, but why is it hard to pee? Do you actually try and take your bathing suit off??? Why? Lol.

  10. tankinis are a great compromise. No peeing problem! And if you are not in perfect shape for a true bikini, you get additional coverage. Not sure where tankini fits into this post about one piece vs. bikini though. Since I've gotten a little older I finally had to get over that I WILL NEVER NOT WEAR A BIKINI thing. Especially after seeing some of the women at the beach near where I live.. just not flattering (and I am not picking on heavier women, it's just that you can choose to wear something more flattering to your body... or NOT)

  11. One piece is for night swims only. Agree with everyone about tan lines. Fortunately I have a private yard.

  12. Disagree. I got my Mom a LIFE magazine from 1945, the year she was born, and it featured women's swimsuit styles through the decades (including those full-body contraptions from the early 1900s!). The two-piece by 1945 had already established itself and no way does it just become less popular now.

  13. I've only ever worn one-piece swimsuits.

  14. agree...people are fat and it needs to be covered up.

  15. As a child I remember having so much trouble, you're wet so the bathing suit is clinging on extra tight and yeah having to take off the suit and put it back on was terrible!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Bikinis or tankinis for me. I remember the annoyance of pulling down a wet one-piece suit to pee when I was a kid.

  17. Is it the one piece with the scooped out sides that you need an amazing body to wear? Like Sofia Vergara's double bag suit?

  18. That's WILD! I was just thinking when I saw Enty's post of Demi playing in mud that bikinis seem like a law requirement now or something. Even when completely unflattering to the body. That one chic in the one piece looks like she might as well be wearing a burka!

As my body is not, nor will ever be, bikini friendly and I think there are some hot classic one piece bathing suits (see enty's pics of cindy crawford and axel's ex) I would love to read that article-LINK it Enty!!

Hi beautiful CDANERS, sorry for the run-ons!! :)

  19. Yes b/c it hides our gut better.

  20. I read that same article. Bikinis will never leave us, there will always be some hoochie mama slapping some string across her nipples and butt crack and calling it a bathing costume.

I am glad one pieces are being seen as sexy again because sometimes I like to drink while in my swimming suit, and sometimes my stomach becomes not so nice because of said drinking.

And come on ladies, you just pull the bottom to the side. Old trick I learned from competitive swimming years ago after angrily trying to yank a soaking wet, two sizes too small swimsuit back up my body while crammed into a tiny bathroom stall.

  21. I think the right one piece can be very sexy! So it could happen - but some women go to the beach just to show their shit off so no I don't think it will happen1!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. P.S. yes I am one of those women that wants to show my shit off :)

  23. @JSierra, I wish you were around to tell me that back when I was in elementary school!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, you just pull the crotch part to the side to pee, sheesh!

I doubt bikinis will every be truly replaced by the one piece - not when it comes to the hotness factor.

We all know that if we looked fantastic we'd be wearing a bikini, when you've gained a few and don't want the world to stare you cover it up, it's as simple as that.

  26. I hope so, I'm really tired of seeing everyone's belly buttons.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I tried doing one of those monokini things, and I couldn't. When it's hot and I'm hanging out at the pool/beach, that strip of fabric feels too hoootttttt. I don't know that I'll ever be able to do a one piece.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have no idea. But I LOVE the term "bathing costume".

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm really surprised so many didn't know to just move the crotch to the side!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wear a tankini since it's easier (and I'd be horrific in a bikini) but agree with JSierra - I have a one piece I occasionally wear and I just pull it aside in the stall.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Crotch to the side is the only way to do a one piece.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Karen I started swimming year round when I was 6 and I don't think I figured that one out until I was probably 10, there should be an instruction guide on the tags. Soo much time wasted in my own WWE match against my suits.

  33. You can't pee in a one piece. Really, that is a reason for not wearing one? If a fish can pee in the ocean, so can you. Urine is non-toxic believe it or not. But, don't pee in the pool. ewww.

I prefer tankinis. They are the best. Hides my pouch, and I can lift the shirt up and still tan my midsection. Problem solved.

    ReplyDelete
  34. @LuluG, tankini's all the way, I embraced them years ago and have not looked back. Comfort of a two piece, coverage of a 1 piece, plus if you just have black, brown and navy bottoms, you can switch up your look all the time with just a new top. What a random your turn question though!

  35. Not if Mr. Disco has his way.

I'm a fan of the one piece.. They can be very sexy! I have stretch marks below my belly button that all the crunches in the world can't hide so I've found the perfect one piece.. It's UV Friendly no line swimsuits.. Sun goes right through the material so no tan lines at all!

  37. One-pieces now, (I'm 50).

I wore bikinis before I had kids, because I'm tall, and it was a real problem to find one that was long enough in the torso. Plus, the one-pieces are so much more stylish now.

My figure's not that bad, but I've had 3 kids and I have some stretch marks that I don't want anyone seeing, plus your skin isn't as tight as it is when you are 25.

Yes, though, I think the one-pieces are really nice. Teenagers will always wear bikinis though, I think.

  38. Ladies, there are some awesome websites featuring women of all sizes wearing gorgeous one pieces and bikinis. It can be done and you can look super fabulous. Google Venus swimwear, Lehona swimwear (www.lehona.com.br. I'd do more but I'm about to board a plane overseas to attend grandpa's funeral. Heartbroken right now. Google plus size and gorgeous swimsuits. You can get some ideas that way.

  39. I think my one pice is way sexier than wearing something unflattering. I found a really cute pin -up style suit with ruching and cute details, I get plenty of compliments on it.
It's not as sexy as my 17 year old self in a 2 piece, but if we are talking about my 35 year old self it's much better.
Dress for the body you have, not the body you want!

  40. I have a navy blue and white polka dot pin up one piece...AND I LOVE IT.

"DAMNNNN that's sexy." - the boy.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sure, why not? Everything changes over time.

  42. Except for the bathroom thing, i like one piece better. I like the beach, like to swim,, walk around- and I dont want to worry the whole time that something might get exposed. I want to be comfy. However there are some 2 pcs that give alot of coverage too

  43. Always wore bikinis. But, if the swelling does not do down around my incision site I may be forced to wear a one piece. That's irony for you, I lose 15 lb after surguery and now I got a pooch:(

  44. god i hope so. 9 out of 10 people should not be wearing bikini's. as a kindness to the world, fashion should go in the direction of the 1 piece.

Thanks for the websites flirtychick and condolences for your grandpa :(

  46. Bikinis all the way, traditional triangle top for me.

  47. I hope so! After 3 pregnancies, one of those bearing twins, this momma is NEVER getting into a 2 piece again! Now if only the little skirt suits would become the rage ;)

I've always worn one pieces as well. I've just never wanted to lay out in the equivalent of a bra and underwear. I love Modcloth for sexy, retro ones. And I slather my virgin skin with SPF 70 so I don't tan or get wrinkles ;)

  49. The baby boomers probably feel that the one piece gives good coverage. A lot of trends follow the baby boomers

    ReplyDelete
  50. I wear whatever I don't feel fat in. Usually a two piece with some belly coverage if needed.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Am I the only gross one who figured if you have to pee that bad while wearing a one piece, you can always run into the water? Not while in a pool, but a beach is another story.

Bikini girl here it keeps me motivated to stay in shape and I hate having all that wet material on me when you wear a one piece and it sucks to go pee in a one piece too
