It is Friday today. Nothing really new to report in the weekly announcements so will just remind everyone that I will be here all weekend and will have a reveal or two from the archives tomorrow. I'm thinking of a really big blind item to reveal if I hit 20,000 followers on Twitter so add me @entylawyer.
On set romances are nothing new. They happen all the time so they are not really blind item worthy. It is not even that big of a deal if one of the people happens to be married. This particular hookup though is important for who it involved and the circumstances and the bonus they gave the world which is about the only clue anyone knows they even met. Our actor is A list in looks and A list in talent, but on the scale of Hollywood is probably B list. All movies. Married. Academy Award winner/nominee. One day not that long ago he was visiting a friend of his who was shooting a movie. They got to talking and suddenly this now married, but then single A+ list celebrity spots the actor and screams and runs over and says that she is his biggest fan. Our actor is flattered, but despite her fame, he is not quite sure who she is. He is amused though and she wants to talk to our actor all day and knows all his roles and has a hundred questions. Our actor has never met a fan like this and she is certainly attractive and won't stop touching him. He is used to women wanting to be with him and he is picking up the signals. He excuses himself after an hour, but the next day he is back. The next day the pair spend more time together, but again nothing happens. The third day he is back for more and this time, they spend an hour in her trailer. People on the set were shocked how she went from diva to groupie in a second and how she won't stop smiling. This goes on for about a week. Everyday. All day when she is not shooting they are together. After a week, he has to go film and back to his wife and she knows she needs to go back to her real life and her boyfriend. As a fitting send off though, our actor films just a few seconds for the movie so they can always remember their time.
Damn, this is a good one, but I can't think of anyone.

Beyonce/Clive Owen is GENIUS. Pink Panther came out in 2006, Beyonce/Jay got married in 2008. Ding ding ding. I could see him not knowing who Beyonce is, she was not quite as huge then.

ReplyDeleteI started looking up actors who are talented but underrated and thought of Gael Garcia Barnal. He had an uncredited role in 2012! BUT it was in a terrible looking movie with no one who fits the A+ description. Clive Owen fits the description to a T, though. Can't get past the 'not that long ago'

She seems like the type that would study films and Ethan, I think, has a larger and more notable filmography than Clive, as well as a more distinct acting style. And is Clive Owen still B-list?? When's the last time he did a movie? One blind about a foreign actor who was out of work and turned to escorting had him as a popular guess.

I did also think this was weird that "the world" was mentioned...it makes the movie seem more important than Pink Panther or AUstin Powers. Where the cameo was a surprise everyone loved and raved over. And oddly enough, two that I can remember being "epic" cameos were John Travolta in Goldmember and Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Which, obviously, it's not them.

Adam Carolla often tells a story of meeting Bey in the DC days -- they all ran up on him at some event (awards show, I think), squealing that they were big fans, that just *loved* Loveline and could they be on it? (And they were.) Me, I can see Bey putting on the groupie for someone GORRRGEOUS who might not know exactly who she is. Being flattered by someone equally pretty would definitely work (as, apparently, it did).
What I'm wondering is, was Steve Martin done with her at that point? I can't imagine him letting an opportunity like Bey get away.

Weren't they in the movie together anyways? Why would he film just a few seconds of a movie that he's got a big part in? The only thing couple I can think of that might apply are Brad and Angie on Mr and Mrs. Smith. She seemed like a big fan girl for him, always gushing about him and saying what an amazing guy he is.
ReplyDeleteThe unexpected celebrity cameo happens all over the place. Sean Connery pops up in at least 2 films I know of uncredited - "Time Bandits" he shows up as Agamemnon, and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" he shows up at the end as "King Richard" in the last few seconds.
