Sure, David and Victoria Beckham's kids loved Los Angeles and the weather and their friends and the schools but David Beckham wants to prove to the world and to himself that he is still a soccer god so is signing with Paris Saint-Germain today so he can try and win a title in his fourth different league. Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham being in Paris is a no brainer for her. It is always where she has wanted to be and feels her craft has suffered in Los Angeles. Umm, she has done pretty well for herself while being in LA. I think parents should go wherever they want if it makes life better for their kids, but at this point is uprooting your kids for the umpteenth time so you can reach your own personal goals selfless or selfish? They have more money than anyone. They are not going to be able to spend it all and their kids have made it clear that they were really happy in Los Angeles and didn't want to go anywhere. Right now they are in London and apparently they will stay there while the parents shuttle back and forth to Paris or maybe they will have to move to Paris. It is not like the family was in LA for just a year. They were here six years. I remember Victoria's failed reality show like it was just yesterday. Well, David by himself in Paris could prove interesting for the tabloids. It did when he was alone in other countries in the past. He got himself into a bit of trouble back then. More than once.
This guy is suuuuch a tool. And not even a sharp one.

ReplyDeleteI think it's just fine. The kids get a little more exposure to different cultures, and they're young enough to make new/more friends. My group of friends have had the rare quality of having been friends since elementary school, and I came along after high school graduation. Kids, for the most part, are pretty fickle.
ReplyDeleteWhat you're suggesting enty is that the kids stay let's say in London at all times with nannies while mom and dad go off to work around the world? I would of rather traveled and be with my parents than with a nanny 24/7 but that's just me.

It's not out of the question that they could live in London while he's at Paris St. Germain - I know of someone who commuted daily to Paris from London because he got a great job offer but didn't want to uproot his kids in the middle of their schooling. It's about an hour flight or about 2 hours by train, so easily do-able.
ReplyDeleteI went to 8 schools in 12 years and lived in all parts of the US. Yes, there were downsides. Some moves were harder than others and it was tiresome always being the new girl in school, but overall it was a good experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Too bad Paris couldn't have been one of the cities I lived in!

ReplyDeleteEnty you definitely do not understand the sport football. It was a good thing he returned to European to establish his legacy as a proper football player. In my opinion it was early in his career to go play in the states, and now he is known more of being a celebrity rather than a player. Now he can re establish himself as a real player in a good club.

ReplyDeleteNobody is going to move to Paris. He explained that he would most certainly have an hotel room but will decide what fits the most for when his family is coming.
It is of course selfish but if I had been one of the most important players for almost the last two decades but played 6 years in the MLS (no disrespect but you are far from having the best players to challenge) and I would have the possibility to play at PSG, which since it has been bought by the Qatari is buying the dream team for a few months, I would not think it twice!

This is Becks' last hurrah, and because of the strength of the Beckham brand, he's getting to do it at PSG. Good for him, and good for them. I guess Ibra wasn't selling enough shirts.
ReplyDeleteI don't see what the problem is with moving the kids. Families move all the time. At least now that they're back home they'll be closer to their extended families. They had 6 happy years in LA, and now they get to live in London and visit Paris often. Sounds like an interesting life to me. And Brooklyn will get to train at a proper football academy.
There's a lot of shit that can be said about how Becks and Posh operate, but the one thing I can't rag on is how they are with their children. It's their saving grace really. I think they'll find a way to make it work for the whole family. And what's 5 months anyway?
I don't know what their marriage is like, but when I see them with those kids I see nothing but happiness and love from all sides in a way that I don't see as photo-op faked.

The salary donation is most certainly a PR stunt, but as long as good is coming from it, I can get behind it. I've always liked the Beckhams, and I think he wants to play with a world class team (sorry LA) and she would be overjoyed to be able to pop to Paris on a whim.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why Enty is so pissed. They may have made a home in LA for a few years but the UK, where they will be based now, is their home. Plus both sides of their families are there, I absolutely don't grudge them wanting to be near them again.
I don't think these kids are going to live and die within 25 miles of where they were born. School in Paris or school in LA?!?!?!?!?! Clearly not rocket science. Add in all the crazies, on the streets and in government, Paris looks as good as anyplace.

ReplyDeleteHe doesn't want to play for any other team in the EPL if he cant play for Man United. (Good man Becks, love it).
He gets to play at a good level for 5 months and keep his fitness up. Brooklyn just recently had a successful trial for Chelsea and can probably be in their Youth Academy for a couple of years.
I really don't think it is selfish at all, in fact I reckon they are doing this to help Brooklyn in his future football career, by being in Europe and remaining in England.
And then to donate his wages for the 5 months to a Parisian children's hospital is just a classy thing to do.

Seriously the chunnel train takes 2 hours to get from London to Paris... I know people who do that commute everyday each way.. it's no biggie!
ReplyDeleteI'm just so excited to see how Beckham is going to do next to Zlatan Ibrahimovic! Now THAT guy is a star, and has everything that David Beckham has but, like, better. The only advantage Beckham has is that he is a bigger name in the states, but pretty much everwhere else in the world Zlatan is the bigger star.
ReplyDeleteThey both have beautiful, successful wives, but Zlatans wife is a hardworking, independent and intelligent woman who made a name for herself in advertising long before she met Zlatan, and she refuses to be branded as a "soccer wife". She actually said once, and I'm paraphrasing, that she gets frustrated at times, because she's not a beauty queen and she doesn't feel that she has gotten enough cred for who she was before she was the mother of Zlatan Ibrahimovics' children.
Also, both of the men have children and they both have moved around a lot with their families, but Zlatan has made a point of protecting his children and keeping his family life and the ones he love away from the spotlight. You hardly ever see pap-photos of anyone in the Ibrahimovic family, and considering his massive popularity and fame, that's quite a feat. And the oldest Beckham boy has gotten into modeling, so they obviously have different theories on what makes good parenting. I could never see Zlatan and his wife letting their kids do any of that at such a young age.
Wow lol it sounds like I'm a massive fan of Ibrahimovic, but I'm not even a big fan of soccer (or football, as we say in my country). And I'm not slamming on the Beckhams either because they seem like a nice family! I just think it's going to be really interesting to see how well the men will get along, since it's a meeting between a man who is more of a pop-cultural icon than he is a player, and a man who is such an icon only because he is such an amazingly talented player. Sounds like a massive diva-off to me!
