Blind Item #3
This A+ list all movie actor from a very big franchise must have heard the comments his almost A list all movie actress wife told her friends because he has been in touch with his ex who he cheated on. Despite her being cheated on twice with his co-stars, the ex loved hearing from our actor and he told her that she is the only one who ever really supported him and last week while his wife was at an event, our actor posed on the red carpet for photos at his event and then hooked up with his ex at her place and then got back to his hotel before his wife.

ReplyDeleteI wanted to go back to the blind reveals and figure out when the daily photos "revealed" the answer (on the same day, day before, day after, and within a week) to get percentages, but I haven't had time.

ReplyDeleteMost of the blinds here sound fake, to be honest. Also I've always wondered... if the purpose of a blind item is to keep names out of it so you don't get sued, then how can you reveal them? Why not just put the names in them in the first place?

And I believe that the reason Enty can reveal certain blinds is because a certain amount of time has passed, so he can't get in trouble for the information he is posting.
As for them being real, I guess just because a blind is revealed doesn't necessarily prove it's validity. If the blind is fake, the reveal is just who the fake blind was about.
Which would also answer why some can be revealed; they were not truthful to begin with.
Regardless, blinds are fun. Enty has never been big on wordplay but I do miss the hidden clues within the blinds.

DeleteAny way you'd consider putting it up as a Google spreadsheet? That way you can make it available to CDANers only via the emailing them the link and it will update for all of us as you update it. Plus, you can always go back and view earlier versions to see how ratings have changed.

Andrew, they are all fake. They (like all blind item websites) are written by people who follow Hollywood and other gossip sites in order to see what are the popular conceptions of stars. They put information together and make good guesses so that when something happens in the future they can claim they had inside information. People who like gossip believe it is true, so they keep coming to the site and the site gets ad revenue. Thus, a revealed blind does not mean it is true or not, just that the original blind was a good guess based on true information already publicly known.
ReplyDeleteMost blinds have more than one "right answer." No one cares about the ones that are never answered, but when one out of a hundred is "proven" it looks like that one was an actual prediction. It is the same thing that keeps people playing the lottery and believing in religions...if one thing is true every now and then, then the unbelievable things look true sometimes too.
It is all in the name of entertainment. None of it is real, just the same kind of spinning that takes place in politics and religion.

Delete@Karen. I was thinking of doing that on reveal day too. I was also wondering what our CDAN guessing percentage was. It seems that the correct person(s) were guessed in most instances, so can we assume that on 99.9% of the blinds the correct answer has been guessed somewhere within the comments?
ReplyDeleteEnty stated long ago that he can only make a blind item when he is far enough removed from the story that it can't be traced back to directly him. Although this was when there was only 1 or 2 blinds a day. Now that we get so many it seems that some are just stories in the news that he re-words into blinds or makes up details so that in blind form it makes a juicier story.
I don't think all the blinds are fake. I have been reading CDAN for several years and have lurked for most of that time. I remember one that was probably a year before the Tiger Woods scandal. When the scandal broke and I went back and looked at the blind, I realized that something I would not have believed when I read it was true.

I don't know which ex Enty is referring to, but he did give us a reveal that DC broke Rooney Mara's heart when he married Rachel because they had been hooking up, & he told her he loved her. She could be the ex. Or at least this is something he would do.
ReplyDeleteI think some blinds are real, some do come to be reported as real, and I think some sources are either one of the parties who is getting payback or someone close to the situation getting paid or getting paid back, or a PR person, others are altered, half truths and others could be totally made up but if you print a reveal to a blind that is fake and you could get very much sued, I don't think the passage of time gives you any protection
ReplyDeletethere is a statute of limitation on libel and slander but the time would start ticking from the date of revealing the name though the reality is there is so much false info out there celebs pick and chose their battles if they pay attention at all and you also have to prove damage to your reputation - well if your rep is already pretty poor no point suing

ReplyDeleteThis is obviously DC. I'd be very disappointed if it was true. The wording Enty uses is that the A+ actor "hooked up" with his ex at her place. Is it possible he dropped by to visit, does it necessarily have to mean they had sex?
