Zac Posen Replaces Michael Kors On Project Runway

Part of the explosion of Michael Kors' fashion line and brand has been the fact that for the past 10 seasons he has been sitting as a guest judge on project Runway. There is nothing like hours of free publicity on national television to make your brand explode and sales go higher. For the 11th season though, Michael didn't have the time to shoot and is being replaced by Zac Posen. Zac has been a guest judge before but this will be the first time he is there for an entire season. Michael will be back for the season finale, but I'm wondering if Zac does really well in the ratings if Michael might be shown the door. He can get on my nerves after about three or four episodes.

  1. Zac "Posen" on Project Runway...how convenient.

  2. Disagree... Kors is irritating, but also a consistent (if inadvertent) hilarious judge. His presence was sorely lacking in the All-Stars Season. I will also miss the imitations of him that the contestants used to do.

  3. Kors is irritating, and Nina's been lobotomized compared to previous seasons. If Posen will expect DESIGN and not just pretty dresses, this could be a good thing.

  4. Oh, I'll miss Ms. Kors' snarky comments! : (

  5. Why all the Kors hate? He keeps it funny! Nina on the other hand makes me cringe sometimes.

I think he's funny and keeps things snappy.

  7. That's not even the biggest or worst news about the new season. That would be that they are going to an ALL TEAM CHALLENGES format.

Losing the Dutchess was bad, but nothing other than teams (i.e., maximum histrionics) week in and week out? I'm done.

    1. Is that for true, Dewie? I haven't heard that. I think everyone does a poor job when they have to work in teams.
I like Michael Kors and I have a full on girl crush on nina garcia. She has fantastic hair.

  8. I don't watch pr regularly. I just got tired of it. occasionally I'll catch a rerun. I liked him on it, I thought he brought a certain gravitas as the owner of a major label.

however, I will say, I used to like his stuff alot. but lately whenever I see his stuff at the store or online, its usually tacky looking. I think of how he would have made fun of it had he been judging it as another's work instead of selling it.

PR is one of the few reality shows where the people actually have talent (some more than others) and DO something constructive as opposed to getting drunk and pulling each other's weaves or being a-holes. I'm talking to you reality housewives.

  9. Awww I will be sad to see him go. I love Michael. He made me laugh.

But please tell me this isn't true about the ALL team challenges? Ugh. I don't care for drama filled reality shows! They bore me!

  10. Zac Posen is a fantastic designer, so I hope he brings a lot of critical input so these people can actually learn from him. Doesn't hurt that he's pretty, either. :)

  11. Zac Posen is great! Idk his personality but I'm cool with this decision.
However, I would have liked them to get a designer from a previous season to judge.. Maybe Santino? LOVE him haha
    I'll miss Kohrs :(

  13. I love Michael Kors! If the team challenge thing is true, I guess it means they are trying to make it more realistic since on every team challenge episode they stress how that's how real fashion lines are produced. It COULD be a push to give the show more credibility or it could crash like when Tyra tried linking with Vogue Italia it fell flat. Or it could not even be true ;) Zac Posen will be interesting. He seems young, hip and funny like a mini Kors

  14. Zac Posen is fantastic and far better looking than Kors, so I rate this an Upgraydd.

  15. Its good to see that for this show the judges are so talented. both MK and ZP are great tailors and have the business knowledge behind of their own empires (i appreciate this in a time where most designers design for other houses).
Mk will do fine without the talent show, it may have helped a tiny bit, but that's it

  16. The only judge that irritates me with Nina.I agree with @Vera, Nina is so lifeless, especially this season.

I want Joseph Altuzarra to judge. He may not have the credibility and power in the industry yet, but my oh my is that a good looking man. Looking at his pictures makes me weak in the knees. And vagina.

  17. Michael Kors company went public earlier this year and he's now worth almost a billion dollars. I think he's hilarious and will miss his snark.

"He looks like a reggae Jesus."

"She looks like an Amish cocktail waitress."

"It was like a hooker convention coming home late at night."

"I mean you might have wanted Carrie Bradshaw, but to me she's Toddlers and Tiaras gone berserk."

And he was usually right! It's not as if he was saying these comments to be funny (like that HORRIBLE Top Chef judge Toby Young). His critiques were spot on.

I was surprised that they didn't bring on Isaac Mizrahi for this but word is that Tim Gunn LOATHES Mizrahi. Not sure if that had anything to do with Posen getting the job.

  18. @Mango-don't forget the "Disco Pumpkin" from a few seasons ago. :)

  19. Yeah, that all teams challenge thing is brutal, but I don't think I can quit Runway. I'm it's bitch.

  20. Tim Gunn loathes Mizrahi? I would love to know what that is about. I adore Tim, didn't care for IM, but he's growing on me. Darling.

  21. Well, good for him. His last fashion week showing was a little played out and I think this gig will jumpstart his creativity.

On a side note, his self-proclaimed best friend is...sigh..I'd change my number to avoid their brand of crazy that could mess up a great opportunity.

  22. I love Project Runway! I have been watching for a few years now. I love MK and will miss his snarky bitch tude he gives.

  23. I like Michael.

I read yesterday tho that this season all the challenges will be in teams--and I hate the team challenges!

  24. I haven't watched in awhile, but I've never understood why Kors has been on for so long. He had a well-known brand before PR, and still does. Seems this should be a minor hobby to him by now.

  25. Isaac Mizrahi will always hold a special place in my heart. Way back when my weight skyrocketed me into plus sized territory leaving me unable to shop at my regular stores anymore, issac launched his line at Target. I believe it went up to size 16 which was unusual. It meant so much that a REAL designer cared about us forgotten ladies. He's always stressed that women should always feel special and beautiful, and I don't sense an ounce of shadiness from him. Michael Kors was another big name designer who was early to do plus sizes. Kors actually may have been first? but Isaac was kind to also think of us who could only afford Target.

  27. Michael and Nina are the only reason to watch the show most of the time. Michael will be missed.

  28. Zac Posen is yummy in that picture. Delicious-yummy.

  29. I'll miss him. I hope Zac has the personality to pull it off.
