  4. In a few billion years, the gravitational pull from the sun will cause Mercury's orbit to rotate a little too closely to the sun. Then the sun's gravitational pull will cause the rest of the planets' orbits to move up accordingly. A few hundred billion years later, the same thing will happen to Venus, then we're next in line. Learned all that in about the third grade :)

    1. Sorry, forgot to say Mercury will explode when it gets too close to the sun. Then Venus, then us. Gravity is a bitch

  7. I don't think the earth will go away. I do think drought, disease and war will end civilization.

  8. If you mean how humanity will end then nuclear war. But mass killings can happen with solar flares, mega volcanoes, or even meteorites (although I think we do have the technology to prevent that)
The Earth however will die when the sun turns super nova.

  9. Lack of potable water and energy. Overpopulation out of control and forced to savagery for ever-decreasing natural resources.

  10. VIP Blonde, my youngest son was discussing that very thing last night. Only he thinks that their orbit will go too far out, away from the sun, or something like that. Was only half listening.

I think some kind of biological warfare will get most of us, like in The Stand.

  11. We'll do ourselves in before the earth blows up or aliens invade..;)
Sad but I really believe mankinds undoing will be man.

  17. Or the sun will die.

  18. Humans will tap the earth out of its resources, kill themselves and 99% of living organisms, then over millions of years the remaining 1% will evolve into something else to someday ruin themselves and everything else.
    Same shit, different millenia.
    Circle of life.
    Whatever.

  19. we will die out, and the cockroaches will take over.

  20. The worlds not going to end, we are. The world is going to be just fine. To her, we're just like cockroaches. Just ask the dinosaurs....As George Carlin said it best, "She'll shake us off like a bad case of fleas."

  21. The world will die when we get pulled into the sun. Long before that, though, human beings will be severely devastated or made extinct due to some natural phenomenon - either an asteroid that collides into the earth or a super volcano that causes a major drought from lack of sunlight.

Me, I'll hitch a ride on a spaceship, right after the dolphins mysteriously disappear. So long and thanks for all the fish.

Marlolovespatsy - I was totally going to quote Carlin!!!

Mankind will end itself long before the world ends...

And I'm sure mother earth will say good riddance

  27. I don't know. I do know how it will sound.
The beeping of PASS alarms on the Firefighter's Turnout coats. That was my thought on 9/11 when I heard it live. This is how the end of the world will sound, while everyone runs away, they run in.

  28. For this to be a so-called doomsday, this has been one of the better birthdays I have had.

And I believe we will do ourselves in.

  29. Humanity will be long gone before the end of the world.

With that said, Happy 4th Birthday to my wonderful son. I wanted to throw him an Mayan themed party, but sadly I was outvoted. Something about tempting fate....boooo fuddieduddies.

  30. The end of the earth or the end of mankind? I think pandemic for mankind. Supernova for the earth. Man will be long gone by then.

  31. After I watched the NRA press conference today, I expect the world will end in a mass shoot out.

  33. People become really inventive when they really have to. I think we'll solve our problems if the problem gets big enough (hopefully, still in time). So I think it'll be by natural accident (meteor hits or the sun dying).

  34. something violent, caused by humans

    ReplyDelete
  35. The show Life After People on the History Channel is fascinating. Each episode explains a certain time frame like, 20 years after humans died, 200 years after....

  36. Anyone read The Road? Man that was a downer. Good, but a downer.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I believe we're being protected from doing so, by God or angels or whatev. Seems to me as humanity we're so close to doing it all the time, and then things have a way of just going on.

I DREAMT RECENTLY THAT I WAS HOLDING A BOX OF GLAZED DONUTS WITH ONLY 2 ROLLS OF DONUTS LEFT AND I EATING ONE WHEN SOMEONE SAID THERE WAS BREAKING NEWS ON TV AND WE ALL STARTED WATCHING PEOPLE GETTING RAPTURED (I.E. FLYING IN THE SKY)...

THEN I TURNED AWAY FROM THE TV AND CONTINUED EATING MY DONUT WHEN A GOT A WEIRD SENSATION IN MY LOWER STOMACH AND THEN I STARTED FLYING...

I REMEMBER TELLING MYSELF TO RELAX AND JUST LET THIS FEELING IN MY STOMACH BE BECAUSE AT FIRST I REMEMBER WANTING TO FIND A WAY TO STOP THE SENSATION, BUT I LATER RATIONALIZED IT BEING NECESSARY TO FLY UPWARDS.

    SO....YEAH...

I BELIEVE MY DREAM BECAUSE WHY NOT!

  40. I want it to be zombies, but it will probably be the sun exploding.

The world.will not end. Mankind will go through massive changes though. Wewill not b the same "people" in a hundred years, IMO. When man has depleted Earth resources it will continue.to.do.what it does........SPIN. Earth doesn't need us, we need it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It will end with a Justin Bieber concert featuring Lindsay Lohan.

    ReplyDelete
  43. When the sun burns out via supernova. That is several billion years away, thankfully. By then, if we haven't exhausted the world of all resources, mankind will have possibly evolved into something else or simply left the solar system. If we don't kill each other first.

    Hahahahaha!!

It will be taken over by housecats and humans will die of overwork.
