Your Turn

iPhone or Android?

119 comments:

  1. I got tired of the same boring Iphone format and switched to Android. Liking it a lot more so far.

  2. Android. never apple.

  3. Android - too cheap to buy an iPhone, then pay the outrageous monthly charge. But I'm seriously secretly considering the switch now that Virgin Mobile supports the iPhone. Even though I just told Mr. Frufra just last night that I still like my phone - I'm a LIAR!!

  4. If I had the money - iPhone.

  5. I am probably the last person in the world that does not have a phone.....

Although, I am pretty sure Jack Nicholson also does not have one:)

  6. iPhone. Have tried switching to android just because I like the openness but the quality of apps just isn't there for me. At this point I have so much money invested in Apps for my iPhone, iPad etc. that it's dumb for me to try switching over again.

  7. I had the first Android and I liked it (Google was supported much better), but I got the iPhone 4S when it came out. I really wanted Siri. :)

It's such a pain to switch phones anyway that I'll probably just stick to Apple.

  8. iPhone. Worth it, and not too bad with the monthly bill as long as you're not streaming videos left and right or downloading TV episodes.

    1. If you have wifi at home you can connect to it and it will not go against your data limit.

  9. iPhone, DUH!
I have the iPhone 4 and have had it for two years, no issues whatsoever, even after I dropped it in wine a few times.
My girl friend has a droid and it isn't even 6 months old and it freaks out and already doesn't work.

    1. Also, you can upgrade to iPhone 4 for a penny if you have AT&T or Verizon.

  10. Neither. I am strictly against smartphones.

  11. I've had both. Love my iPhone

    ReplyDelete
  12. I've been on Team Android since day 1, and now everyone's hopping on the already left Trolly, iPhone people are dumb

  13. my android ALWAYS glitched. hated it

    ReplyDelete
  14. I paid $150 for an Android & have a $25/month unlimited text/web/whatever plan.
Until iphones can give me the same deal (iphones will never give me the same deal), I say Android.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've had both and hands down prefer the iPhone.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Why chose either when you can have a flip phone! OMG when I see someone with a flip phone, I almost want to take them straight to Best Buy and welcome them to 2012.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Android all day. I just got the galaxy 2 and love it!

  18. Obama phone! Lol!
    Bad joke...
    Android. Always.

  19. Android. Droid Razr Maxx. Year old and the battery still lasts for so much longer than normal phones, especially my bf's iPhone, which he constantly has to charge. Apps are great, and FREE.

    1. Razr! My battery kinda sucks, love everything else.

  20. *snort*

Neither. A cheap old-school Nokia that only makes calls and texts.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am not savvy enough to know what's so special about either one, ok maybe I just don't care that much about a phone.

    ReplyDelete
  22. iPhone, droid people are fooling themselves, anything Microsoft is easily hacked.

    ReplyDelete
  23. iphone. they work. all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I've had both and will never go back to iPhone. Android all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have a Nokia Lumia which I know isn't an iphone, so I guess it's an android. Use it mainly for phone calls and e-mails and frankly I wish it had a flip top so I didn't have to put it in a case when I put it in my purse.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @AKM I recently upgraded to one that can take pictures. Nothing beats that fancy feeling of knowing your phone can double as a kettle bell.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I've had both and I'll never go back to Android. I don't know if I got a crap phone or what, but the thing bricked batteries every 3 hours and half of the apps didn't work right. My 2yo iPhone has been a major relief.

What I do not get, however, is why someone who bats for the other team is a (insert insult here)? iPhone owners are dumb and Android owners are fooling themselves? How about "I like my phone and here's why"? See what happened there?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I used to have Android, but it was buggy -- would freeze, reboot, etc. And it really couldn't handle the group texts all my friends send one another. Switched to iPhone, and never been happier! Plus, all the apps I used to use on Android I've noticed are SO much better on iPhone. I think they design them first on the iPhone platform and then change them for Android and they aren't as functional.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Droid! Never ever wanted an apple.

Hubs and I just upgraded from the Virgin Mobile (sweet deal for 25+ tax if you don't talk a lot) to T Mobile Galaxy III and love it!

And we do that sharing thing all the time =)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I finally got a smart phone because my plain one finally died. Just got an iPhone 4 because it was free and my husband already had an AT%T account along with my son, so the monthly is OK.

    ReplyDelete
  31. iPhone, have been for years. My husband had a Droid until he switched to iPhone when the 5 came out earlier this year, and sorry, that Droid SUCKED. Glitches constantly, froze up all the time, internet NEVER worked. It was awful. Same thing when I had a PC in college before I got an Apple. Apple is so much more user friendly, no viruses, never freezes, nothin'. Would never go back.

  32. Droid, for many reasons:

    flac,
4G lte (and the unlimited plan I've had for 2 years),
    1080p screen (htc dna),
    plays all formats of video/audio,
feel like less of a sheep,
    better camera,
    better headphone amp,
    wireless charging,
    nfc,
steve jobs was a greedy asshole.

  33. Hey my CDAN family. I don't know where else to say thins so I figured here was ok. I'm not sure if te Michigan folk have heard about the woman murdered at Eastern Michigan university yesterday ( where I also attend) but I have known her, her twin sister and parents for over 10 years. I worked with all of them and it hurts so bad to senselessly lose someone that had so much life and love to give. My friends and I are just numb. Just asking for some good thoughts, wishes and prayers towards the family and friends. It's been a very long 2 days. I feel like I'm just going thru the motions and needed to just get stuff out.

    3. Thank you so much to everyone. The autopsy is back but there is no visible signs of the cause. Waiting is the worst thing.

  34. @The Dude, no disrespect meant but you're fooling yourself if you think Android is a Microsoft product or that iOS is hack-proof. Android is from Google and is based on Linux.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @FalseProfit...feels like less of a sheep? Hahaha, I love that reason. You're one of those people who stops liking a band when they get a little success, aren't you? :)

  36. @Amy I am so sorry for your loss. If I have learned anything from this site it is that the community is a very strong and supportive one, anything that I/we can do to help, do not hesitate to ask.

My thought will be with you and everyone else affected. Now she is in a better place and we can learn from the gifts she left behind in her friends and family.

  37. I have an older IPhone and really enjoy it. I always hesitated to switch up to a smart phone, but now that I have one, I understand what all the hype is/was about. Never had a droid to compare to, though.

    ReplyDelete
  38. iPhone, though I recently unwittingly updated from IOS 5.1.1 to 6 and HATE it. If your phone keeps reminding you to update, DO NOT DO IT. It sucks and I have tried every hack on the planet to go back to 5.1.1 and cannot. Right up until then I was a die-hard Apple fan. Now, I am pissed that I cannot have the operating system I want and am no longer flying the flag for them.

    1. @tracy Try www.quickpwn.com for instructions on downgrading your iOS. It IS doable I just found it way too confusing. I just texted my iphone expert friend to see if he has simple instructions and if he does, I'll post them for you. I've learned not to upgrade the iOS until someone else did and gave me the scoop, but most important, not until it's been jailbroken ;)

  39. @dude -- before you make big pronouncement a about the security of a platform, you'd better get your facts straight. Android is from Google. Microsoft's phone is the Windows Phone.

I want to switch to a Windows Phone, but my Mini's software is only available on iOS. Sigh.

  40. @Amy in MI, OMG how horrible! My condolences to you and her family/friends. I'm just sad that her roommates noticed they didn't see her for 2 DAYS and her alarm kept going off but never thought to check on her.

EMU is my 16 y/o daughter's first choice college (apparently they have an excellent construction management program.)

Even though Ypsi is right next door to Ann Arbor, it's light years away in safety. I feel 10x safer going to Detroit than out in Ypsi by myself. EMU has a great business program which is why I'm here getting my 2nd bachelors. But I would never live here

  41. iPhone! My hubby has an android, and while he loved it at first, he hates it now. He can't wait til his contract is up and he can get an iPhone!

Tracy - why don't you like 6? I haven't had any troubles with it.

  42. Oh, and to answer Enty's question - Android (and haven't had any problems yet *knock wood*)

  43. A reminder if you have an iPhone -- google released their mapping software yesterday. Get it before Apple Maps screws you up.

The apple maps screw up pulled the bloom of the rose for me and the iPhone

I don't think I have either one. My phone really doesn't matter that much to me. This thing I have now has a touch screen and I can access the internet on it (although so small I can't read it) but I don't think it's a smart phone. It has a typing keyboard which is good because I do text quite a bit, and my plan is $25 for 300 minutes and unlimited texting and internet. I probably won't be upgrading.

    ReplyDelete
  45. iPhone, hands doubt. Apple products are bar-none the best.

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Amy, I am so sorry! :( Sad news. Please don't be shy about sharing, community is important even if you just need to talk.

@Sea & Tracy - I updated on my iPad but not the iPhone and I'm glad for it. 6 is not as awesome as they're making it out to be. My contract is up in February and the teen wants my 4S, but not sure I'll give it up, even for Siri.

  47. I have an Android, but I'm considering downgrading to a regular. fucking. cellphone.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Windows Phone! My Lumia 920 is the best phone I've had. Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm surprised. I thought it would be overwhelming in favor of iphone but it's not at all! I have and love my iphone. Just wish flash would work on apple.
My hubs had a prepaid track phone until this summer. I teased him relentlessly until he was shamed into entering the 21st century with me.

  50. Android. Apple "sells" iPhones for hundreds of dollars, but still owns them, for all intents and purposes.

Imagine buying a new Mustang, only to have Ford blow the engine up if you installed an after-market stereo. That is literally how Apple does business with the iPhone.

I'd rather have a "dumb" phone.

I HATE apple for thinking they own my iphone. I'm just renting it! That's why I am a huge advocate for jailbreaking. I enjoy being able to tweak it however I want. I think Droids are already customizable? I enjoy being sneaky and sticking it to Apple even though jailbreaking is legal. When I get a new iphone, I sell the old one jailbroken and I've made up to $250 more than what I paid just on one iphone out of 3 I've sold. I was ahead on $$$ until te last one was stolen. Now I'm back to zero.

  63. I have an Android because I'm T-Mobile, but I have an iPod Touch loaded with almost 14gb of music that is my workout mainstay.

I don't enjoy lugging both phone and Touch with me to the gym or on runs, but I hate the Google Music app. So I'm tempted to switch to the iPhone when T-Mo(sil!) gets it next year, but I haven't had many complaints about my phone's functionality overall. Takes great photos, but I agree with the person that said the apps suffer in comparison.

  68. JSierra, I lied. I forgot that my phone WILL take pictures, videos, and recordings. I'm such a Luddite, though, that I haven't a clue how to get things off of there. Yes, I am THAT unsavvy RE: technology. :-)

Amy, I am so sorry about your friend. While something like that would always be tragic, it's especially horrific given that it's the holidays. Love and light to you and her family. :-(

  69. I have a Motorola Xoom Tablet (Android Jellybean for the OS) that I use more than I use my PC. It does just about everything I want it to do, which is more than I can say for my iPhone 4. On the other hand, the iPhone was the first smart phone to get me addicted to Smart phones. I really could go either way on this one.

  75. For people having problems with iPhone 6, they'll probably have an update soon to fix stuff, maybe that will help?

I'm always amused by the arguments people get into about Mac vs Apple. I've had Macs since 1990 and will always have one, I've used Windows and it just seems like a computer with a lot of bandaids to act like a Mac. But it's not worth a fight!

My husband got the iPhone 6 - his 4 was busted - but recently got a Windows for free (he works with lots of Microsoft people and needs to be on the internal Microsoft programs) - he's surprised at how much he likes it!

  76. I am so sorry I posted 3 times I'll erase 2 when I'm at my pc. I had to write that 3 times, 2 got erased and then I triple post! Maybe iPhones DO suck... I wish I could rearrange this keyboard bc if I hit "b" I hit "space" or I'll hit "backspace" instead of "m". And worst is as I'm typing my post here, sometimes I hit "log out" and I have to start all over.

  77. No interest. I have my daughter's old regular Sony Ericsson that was a big deal at it's time. I just use it for an alarm clock and calls from my family. Looking at the small screen gives me a headache-not interested in using a mobile for anything else. We have 4 PC's in our home, so why pay for internet on the cell phone? On vacation, we have USB internet. Cell phone charges are outrageous in our country, so we don't text or send images with the phones.

  78. My work provides my phone --my old one just died and they got me an iphone --I've had it about a month--it's ok. I'm not in love, but it's a step up from my old Motorola Q (which I loved when I first got it).

  79. Will never own Apple products ever.

Had a Windows phone for a week, piece of shit.

Now have Samsung Nexus Google phone.
Fucking love it and guess what...maps. Never paid one red cent for an app, don't need to they are all free. The ones you pay for are worse than free for hacking.

Have fun upgrading an iphone over and over to get the basic shit Samsung has been providing for years.

I had a Droid something or other (Motorola?) for two years...it got to where it would crash, freeze, delete photos. Made me hate it. But, I upgraded to a Galaxy S III and I am in LOVE. Samsung has a much better product, for sure.

Not that I do a whole lot on the phone. When the guy at Verizon was helping me pick out something new, he asked what I primarily do with the phone. Before I could even answer, hubby piped in with, "Facebook, talking to her mom, and taking pictures of our cats." Yep, that about sums it up.

  86. Don't drink the Apple koolaid and join the cult. Android is the way to go. Never have had problems, free apps, open software. I own my phone. Only Apple thing I have is an iPod for which there really isn't an alternative. Makes no sense to me to pay 3x for a laptop that does the same thing. I don't need an iPhone when the Android has free apps and maps that work etc etc. Love Google Sky Maps, sorry you Apple folks you don't get those cool Google apps .
