Richard Pryor would have been 72 years old yesterday. If you are making any top comedians list of all time he is going to be on that list. I found this great collection of clips of him. Look at the first from 1964 even if you don't watch the rest. So different from his later standup.
One of my heroes.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe he would only have been 72
ReplyDeleteLove that man so much. Why do the likes of him die young and the Kardashian and Lohan cockroaches survive everything?
ReplyDeleteHe was a genuis abd hikarious, but ive never seen anyone abuse his body and soul like he did. Rip. .
ReplyDeleteAnd hilarious it shod hv read. Sigh.
DeleteHe's one of those people who when he passed, the world was a less happy place. One of the greatest comedians of all time. I love this man!
ReplyDeleteMad, mad love for this man! Happy Birthday in the beyond, my fellow Saggi!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant, and one of the saddest, unhappiest humans ever to walk the earth. He's been gone for years, and still no one can touch him. A great stand up and a great comedian.
ReplyDelete@Sandy - you've said it better than I ever could.
ReplyDelete@Sandy: simply but beautifully said. Demons are a bitch.
ReplyDeleteI miss Richard Pryor and George Carlin so much. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant man.
ReplyDeleteHe was the funniest human being ever. I really miss him. R.I.P Richard.
ReplyDeleteLoved him. He was so damn funny.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it: Richard Pryor was a genius albeit a tortured soul. Let's face it, he was the comedian who broke the barrier and was loved beyond the racial divine (typo and it stays!-Michael K). Truly like MLK he did so much for positive racial relations (not to downplay Crosby) but he brought the cool. Thank goodness he graced our world and especially my generation.
ReplyDeleteDidn t he also try to freebase while on a plane?
ReplyDelete(and got badly burned). I always remember this when I m in a plane s toilets ...
babo..No he freebased at home and got burned. Remember the joke everyone made with a match jumping up and down..He made mention of it in his shows afterward. It was about him running down the street.
ReplyDeleteTop of the list, bar none.
ReplyDeleteLoved Richard Pryor. Drugs are a bitch man.
